Matthew and Thomas continued their conversation in Abner’s office, the awkwardness between them palpable.

“It looks like I’ve touched on a sensitive topic,” Thomas observed.

Matthew looked embarrassed. “It’s something, isn’t it? It wasn’t supposed to be a sensitive issue. The wedding day is approaching, but for some strange reason, I keep making my fiancée handle her work matters instead of focusing on the wedding preparations.”

“Have you sent out the invitations?” Thomas asked gently.

“No,” Matthew admitted.

Thomas jolted. “Has she chosen the wedding dress?”

“No.”

“Did you have your bachelor party?” Thomas pressed further.

Matthew, now extremely embarrassed, spoke softly, “No... No...”

Thomas looked worried, thinking about what to say next. “My dear, it seems like you don’t really want to get married.”

Matthew’s desperation showed. “But I should get married! I NEED to! Look at the huge problem Alfredo Dantas STILL causes me, even though I’m the president of the conglomerate!”

I clicked on it and... well, there are a lot of new, very different photos.”A mischievous smile formed on Patricia’s lips. “I encouraged Linda to update her image.”“Well, it seems to have worked. There are even personal photos of her with Walter at the beach...”“And is that what you’re envious of?” Patricia teased, raising an eyebrow.“No, I’m not envious,” he chuckled, sliding the phone back into his pocket. “But after I heard you asking Cindy to interview her, I wondered if this whole makeover

A heavy, expectant silence filled the hallway.“Bella, who is it?”Two sets of footsteps approached the dining room — one light and familiar, the other carrying a weight and cadence Linda hadn’t heard in weeks. She stiffened, instinctively preparing for another unwanted visitor or a reporter. But when the figure stepped into the archway, Linda’s breath hitched. Standing there, sporting a healthy coastal tan and a smile that reached her eyes, was Paulina.“MOM!” Linda scrambled up, her chair screeching against the floor.“Hello, my baby girl!”They collided in a desperate embrace. Ernesto and Bella appeared in the doorway behind them, watching the reunion.“I asked Bella to keep it quiet,” Ernesto murmured, a soft smile playing on his lips.Paulina pulled bac

“Wow, Linda. Congratulations.” Bella brought her hands together in a slow, deliberate applause, her eyes shining with admiration. “You really need to be that brave girl right now.”“Definitely.” Linda swallowed hard, chasing the anxiety away with sugar. She reached for another cookie, focusing on the crunch rather than the looming dread. “These cookies are delicious, by the way.”Bella leaned back, slipping effortlessly into the persona of a podcaster’s girlfriend — savvy and media-conscious. “And what exactly do you intend to tell Cindy Cardoso?”“Are you rehearsing with me?” Linda let out a nervous laugh. “Well, I want to tell the world how I’m being unfairly linked to the drug trafficking accusations surrounding my brother’s trial.”“Just try not to sound like our brother is actually guilty.”“But he is, Bella,” Linda said, her voice dropping. “Please, let’s not argue about this again.”“OK. I know you’ll apologize when Gus is proven innocent.” Bella waved a hand dismissively.Lind

A wide, predatory smile spread across her face.“Ronaldo, you idiot,” she whispered to the empty air, “you’ve officially dug your own grave.”******Back in the studio, Ronaldo lifted the empty bottle, shaking it toward the exit as if rattling a tin cup.“Is there no more Indian tea?” he slurred, his words beginning to lose their sharp edges.Jorge narrowed his eyes, watching the way Ronaldo’s head listed to one side.He still hasn’t realized this isn’t tea?
