Chapter 16 : Denial

Barbara could only chuckle at the words that came out of Icarus' mouth. He clutched his solar plexus and looked at the Brazilian with an intense gaze.

"Sir, why are you laughing?" Asked Icarus, who was surprised by his boss's attitude. "Is there something funny about what I said?"

"Yes, of course there is." Barbara tried to quell the laughter coming out of his mouth. He had to pinch his own cheeks to make it stop.

"What you said sounded funny to my ears. There is no way this shabby-looking man is my son, Icarus," Barbara added with a sardonic smile printed on his handsome 60-year-old face.

"You better not make jokes like that, Icarus. Because this joke is not funny."

Icarus let out a long sigh as he closed his eyes. He tried to patiently give understanding to Barbara, who seemed to not accept the fact that he had just said.

"Unfortunately, I am not joking, sir."
