Chapter Forty-Seven

Aidan’s POV

It was 6 in the morning, and the rays of sun seeped through the open crack of Aidan’s gray-colored window curtains and shone on his face. He squinted and closed them shut again before turning his head to the other side, away from the sun to continue his much-needed rest. He needed sleep. He was still recovering from the rays jolting him half-awake when his phone started ringing incessantly.

“Ring!”

“Ring!”

He took a peek with one eye open in the direction of the ringing and cursed himself for not silencing it before he crashed the night. A whole week had passed since Mallory spilled all to Frederick and his plotting had finally ripened to pluck.

During this whole time, Aidan had given Madam Doris a little breathing space, with Mr. Raymond digging up people that she duped out of medical insurance to testify against her when the time comes.
