Chapter 3

The hospital clerk behind the administration desk nodded his head hesitantly, reaching for the black card in Claude's hand. He swiped it, and a receipt came out of the computer. "All the bills are paid in full."

Of course, it surprised Claude that all the hospital bills were paid, which meant Bruce wasn't fooling him. There really was a huge amount of money in it. Claude couldn't believe he could finally pay off his mother's medical expenses. And at the same time, Ronald still didn't seem to believe it.

Ronald walked fast towards Claude with a haughty look on his face. "Where does a poor man like you get money from?"

Claude reached for the receipt. The clerk returned the black card to Claude. Ronald looked at the black card with a serious face and thought that the money Claude used to pay off all Claude's mother—Wendy's bills was his wife's money. Ronald grinned. Ronald knew that Claude was a poor son-in-law.

Ronald folded his arms across his chest as he chuckled with a sardonic smile. "That money must have been borrowed from your wife, right? You poor, useless man. You're just a nuisance to Olivia. Life is just a burden that Olivia has to bear. What a shame. I really feel sorry for Olivia. Never mind, just divorce her. Let her live happily. And sooner or later, Marley will marry her."

Marley was Ronald's nephew. And in fact, it was Marley who asked Ronald to kick Claude's mother out of the hospital. Of course, that made Claude feel upset. Claude did realize that he could only trouble Olivia's life, but they loved each other. Claude shook his head. "I will never divorce Olivia."

Ronald gave Claude a condescending look as he pushed Claude's shoulder hard enough to make Claude take a few steps back. "Go tell your wife that you're getting a divorce."

"You've gone too far! This has nothing to do with my household!" Claude really couldn't take Ronald's insults anymore.

Wendy, who was unconscious, suddenly went into convulsions and foamed at the mouth. Suddenly, the doctor and nurses panicked. "The patient must get treatment immediately. His condition is getting worse. We must take immediate action!"

The nurses immediately ran with the gurney and lifted Wendy's body, laying her on the gurney. They immediately rushed to take Wendy to the operating room. However, their steps were deliberately blocked by Ronald. "Where are you taking her?"

The doctor and the nurses looked at each other. "We'll take the next course of action immediately."

Ronald snorted in annoyance. "It's useless. It's better to take her to another hospital because they will delay the payment of hospital fees again." Ronald pushed the gurney backwards so the doctor and the nurses could not take Wendy to the operating room.

Claude was really getting annoyed with Ronald. "Let go! I've already paid for my mother's treatment. You shouldn't have prevented them from taking action on my mother!" He tried to block Ronald. Of course, Ronald didn't accept, and a tug-of-war ensued.

"Damn it, you dare challenge me!" Ronald tried to push Claude's body away, but Claude defended himself so that his mother would get the care she deserved. The commotion between them made people in the hospital gather around to watch them.

At that moment, Alex-the director of the hospital-was relaxing in his room when his cell phone suddenly rang.

"Who?" Alex lazily picked up his cell phone. But Alex stood up immediately when he saw that the call was without a name and number.

He knew it was an important person calling him. "Good afternoon, sir? What's up?" He asked quickly.

"My master is there, you must serve him well, or you will get into trouble. I will remove you from your position now."

The voice he remembered always scared him so much that his hands were trembling now.

"Bai, Master! I'll do it!"

"Master Claude's mother is now being treated. Go see Master Claude, and don't make any mistakes."

After the phone line was disconnected, Alex felt great fear. He quickly exited the elevator and saw a large crowd near the administration desk. He stopped one of the nurses. "What the hell is going on? Why are those people gathered there?"

"I don't know, sir. They've been making a lot of noise and disturbing the people here." The nurse bowed her head respectfully to Alex. "Excuse me, sir. I need to go to the emergency patient's room."

Alex nodded his head. He frowned, curious about what was going on. Especially when he heard Ronald's very loud yelling. Alex immediately rushed through the crowd and looked at Claude, still holding the black card. Instantly, Alex recognized who Claude was. Alex smiled, stepping his feet to approach Claude.

But after just a few steps, Ronald immediately approached Alex and flattered him. "Good afternoon, sir. Why is your busy master here? Sir, you shouldn't be here. I'm sorry if you're uncomfortable with the commotion here, but there's no need for you to intervene in a trivial matter like this. Take it easy, sir. Let me handle it myself."

Alex ignored Ronald's words. He simply ignored Ronald as he pushed Ronald's body away and approached Claude with a friendly, respectful bow. "Good afternoon, sir."

Alex smiled kindly.o "Has your mother been treated well by the staff at this hospital, sir?"

Alex bowed before Claude, and he held his hands together. "Master Claude, I am Alex, the director of this hospital. I heard that Master Claude's mother is being treated here. Has your mother received the best care?"

"Did you hear... the director call him sir?" A whispered voice was heard.

"Who is that person to be called, sir...? Isn't he unable to pay the hospital fees?" The nurses who were there were getting noisier.

Alex could hear it, and it made him uncomfortable. "How polite of you. Master Claude is a man of honor!" Alex snapped at them, making everyone surprised by the director's words.

Claude wrung his hands as he glanced at Alex quizzically. "Getting the best treatment? My mom even got thrown out by that guy!" Claude pointed at Ronald

Alex widened his eyes, looking sharply at Ronald, and slapped him hard,”You idiot!”
