Chapter 4

Everyone who was there was shocked to see that. Ronald held his hot and sore cheek while looking at Alex with a confused look

"Why did you slap me? What did I do wrong? I was working according to the procedure." He was still trying to defend himself, ” He’s in arrears for his mother's hospitalization!”

"I paid my mother's bill!" Claude spoke firmly.

Alex pointed at Ronald with a sharp, angry glare. "You've really pissed me off. Starting today, you are fired!"

Ronald widened his eyes perfectly. "What? Why am I suddenly fired?" He asked Alex for an explanation, but Alex made a face, reluctant to answer his question. "Please tell me what I did wrong?"

"Your mistake was fatal, Ronald! You've misbehaved with an honorable man!" Alex spoke in a restrained voice full of anger. Alex bowed his head respectfully to Claude.

"Please forgive us, sir." Alex looked terrified in front of Claude.

Ronald's brow furrowed. "Honorable man? Sir? Are you sick, sir? How can a poor man like him have such a great position? Are you joking?"

"Watch that mouth!" Alex slapped Ronald across the face again, ”Are you crazy?”

Alex didn't want to get into big trouble. He raised his hand at the security guards, "Get him out of here right now!"

"You can't do this to me, sir!" Ronald yelled, still couldn't accept Alex's decision.

Alex didn't want to listen and instead he bowed his head respectfully to Claude. "Forgive us, sir."

Looking at Alex's obedient attitudes to Claude, Ronald finally realized that Claude might be the Only one who could save him. "Mr Claude!"

Ronald clasped his palms together in front of his chest as he knelt on the floor. "I'm sorry Mr. Claude. I really apologize to you for being bad and mistreating your mother. Please forgive me."

Claude remained silent, not wanting to accept his apology at all.

"Mr. Claude! Please forgive me!" Ronald shouted in a low tone of voice. Now he was genuinely sorry for doing such a terrible thing to Claude.

Ronald crawled over to touch Alex's feet. "Mr. ...."

Before Ronald could say anything, Alex also left immediately after Claude left Ronald behind. He was fed up with the attitude of the former staff at the hospital.

"Mr. Claude! Mr. Alex! Please forgive me!" Ronald kept shouting their names. He looked at the doctor and the nurses. "Help me." Roland grasped his hand more firmly, his eyes not leaving Claude.

Alex respectfully went after Claude. "Once again, I apologize for this incident, sir. Please wait a moment. I will move Mrs. Wendy to the VIP room."

"That won't be necessary." Claude tried to refuse.

"One moment, sir." Alex raised his hand, signaling one of the staff to come over. The staff immediately ran towards him. "Quickly move Mrs. Wendy to the best VIP patient room here."

The hospital staff nodded his head. "Okay. Come on, bring her here." He helped the nurse carry Wendy's gurney to the VIP room.

The confused Claude just followed until they arrived in front of the VIP room. He saw his mother's gurney being put into the room.

"Wait a minute, sir. I will gather all the best doctors and professional nurses here." Alex stepped away, calling all the best doctors and nurses, and gathered before Claude.

Alex pointed at them. "Sir, starting today, your mother will be cared for by them." He looked at the professional doctors and nurses. "All of you, take good care of Mrs. Wendy."

All the best doctors and nurses nodded in unison. "Yes, sir." They moved quickly to give action to Wendy.

Claude raised his hand, about to say something. However, Alex stopped him. "Take it easy, sir. They will provide the best care for your mother."

One of the doctors checked Wendy's condition and decided to operate on her at once.

And several hours later, the operation ended successfully and Wendy was sent back to the VIP room immediately.

Claude followed them. He was stunned and could hardly believe what was happening right now. His mother was well taken care of. It was a service she had never received before.

"Sir." Alex's call surprised Claude. Alex pointed inside the VIP room. "Inside this VIP room, there is another room that you can use to rest. Come, let me show you."

"But ...." Claude was perplexed. He didn't have time to say no because Alex had already stepped inside. Forcing Claude to follow.

Alex pointed behind the dividing wall inside the VIP room. "There is a large bed for you to sleep in, a television, a wardrobe, a pantry, and also a bathroom. You can stay with Mrs. Wendy in comfort." He pointed at the doctors and nurses. "They will also be here to check on Mrs. Wendy regularly."

Claude was a little surprised to see that. This room looked like a luxury hotel to him. "Thank you for your help, but this is too much. And, they don't need to be around all the time because I can take care of my mother myself."

Alex's brow furrowed. "Why, sir? Don't you trust them? You can rest easy, all the doctors and nurses here are professionals and the best in this hospital. You don't need to doubt their performance. I will make sure myself and check regularly to make sure that they are really doing a good job, sir."

Claude looked visibly agitated. He looked at Alex awkwardly. "To tell you the truth, I'm worried about the cost of these special facilities and services because I don't want to be in debt to anyone else."

Alex smiled kindly at that. He shook his head. "You don't have to worry about that, sir. These are all the services you should get while Mrs. Wendy is in this hospital."

Claude felt uncomfortable, not understanding the different treatment from before. "I want my usual room and service."

"Ah, no, sir. There is no way I would want to lump you in with other patients' services." Alex flattered Claude. "Please accept all these services. Think of it as compensation for the poor service you previously received from us. I hope you can forgive our mistakes." Alex again bowed his head respectfully before Claude.

Claude was a little embarrassed to receive this special treatment from the hospital and was surprised by Alex's attitude. However, wasn't he lucky if he could get this kind of unique service for his mother's treatment?

He finally agreed,"Well, thank you, sir. Please take good care of my mother."

"Of course, sir. I will make sure that your mother is treated well this time. Thank you, sir." Alex bowed respectfully again, followed by the doctors and nurses.

 Claude smiled at their respect.

Alex raised his head. "Then we'll excuse you, sir. You must be tired and want to rest. If you feel uncomfortable with the presence of the nurses in this room, I will instruct them to wait outside and stand by near Mrs. Wendy's room."

Claude nodded his head. "Yes, just like that."

Claude was happy that his mother's condition was becoming more stable even though she was still in a coma.

All these events reminded him of that mysterious man named Bruce. He reached into his shirt pocket, pulling out Bruce's business card.

There was a phone number he could call.

Claude typed in the phone number on the card, dialing Bruce. Not having to wait long, Claude's phone call was connected. "Hello, it's me, Claude."

"Yes, Master Claude." Bruce, on the other side, smiled happily. Actually, he already knew Claude's phone number and was looking forward to the phone call from Claude. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

"I'd like to see you tomorrow." Claude still felt a little awkward to think of Bruce as his servant.

Bruce smiled at that as he nodded. "Yes, sir. I will meet you at eight in the morning at the B3S restaurant."

Claude nodded. "Alright." He hung up the phone. He wanted to know what was happening and what secrets Bruce was hiding from him.

Claude put his phone back into his pants pocket, then walked over to the side of the bed, holding Wendy's hand. "Hurry up and get up, mom. You're in good hands now."

Claude was about to sit on the chair, but his hand accidentally nudged the nightstand and dropped something.

He picked up the sitting calendar that had fallen on the floor and looked at today's date.

His eyes widened, instantly surprised when he remembered that tomorrow was Olivia's birthday. "God, I almost forgot it was Olivia's birthday tomorrow."

Claude rubbed his face roughly. "Shit. I don't have the money to buy Olivia a birthday present."

But then, Claude suddenly remembered the black card he had used to pay for his mother's treatment. He took out the card and held it in his hand.

He remembered Bruce's words that he could use the card to buy whatever he wanted.

"I can use this card to buy Olivia's birthday present." Claude immediately left Wendy's hospital room, rushed out of the hospital, and decided to buy a gift for her wife.
