Harry’s throat felt dry, his heart pounding painfully as he struggled to process the sight before him. His voice failed him; he could do nothing but stare, silenced by the weight of shock and betrayal.

He reached out, his hand shaking, and pushed an empty glass vase off the closet close to the door.

The crash was deafening. And it was the only thing he heard as the man and Hailey jumped apart and looked at him, the whole scene playing out in slow motion before him as his ears rang and his eyes dazed.

No… it couldn't be. He had to be dreaming. It couldn't be Hailey having sex with a man in her office.

But he wasn't mistaken. It was his wife Hailey. It was the woman he had spent the whole day waiting for at the restaurant just to make her birthday special.

"How dare you barge into my office without knocking?" Hailey lashed out angrily at him.

“O… Hailey?” Harry managed to breathe out, surprised to see that his wife didn't even look remorseful. She had this look on her face that indicated she was irritated that she'd been interrupted in the middle of her adulterous act.

It made Harry' heartbreak all the more. If she looked remorseful or was even begging for his forgiveness it might assuage his heart a little, letting him know that she still respected him enough to be sorry for what she'd done.

William Robertson, feeling irritated by Harry' sudden appearance, and disrupting his moment of pleasure with Hailey, angrily reached out for his pants which had been discarded on a corner of the office and began to tug them on.

Being the heir to the Robertson empire, one of the most powerful family in the entire country, William had assured the Rivens that he'll help them save the family business which was a about going bankruptcy, but only if Hailey would agree to be his woman.

Now seeing Harry just barge into Hailey’s office, and finding them having sex, made him really angry at Hailey. He had a reputation at stake if such things get out to the public and he wasn't expecting Hailey to be so unprofessional in dealing with him.

Hailey could see the anger in William's eyes, ignoring whatever it was that Harry was feeling angry about. Knowing what was at stake, she turned to Harry, "You know what? I'm sick and tired of you. How dare you barge into my office like you own it? Are you out of your mind or something?"

Harry was still trying to recover from the whole shock when Hailey reached for her drawer and pulled out a brown envelope.

"Here..., take this. I'm done with this marriage," Hailey threw the envelope at him.

"What is the meaning of this, Hailey?" Harry furrowed his brow.

He wasn't expecting Hailey to be the one who should be angry in that moment. He was expecting an apology, a remorseful look, but none of that happened, making him feel so stupid.

"You heard me right, Harry. Sign those papers and let's get this over with."

"I'm not signing these," Harry replied, his voice low. "I walk into your office to find you cheating and you are asking for a divorce? What have I done to deserve this?"

"Hailey, what's the meaning of this?" William asked, angrily. He was expecting Hailey to have had Harry thrown out of her office, not minding if he was her husband or not. "Is this how you expect me to help you with a spot in the Moxley’s Partnership Initiative?"

Hailey could feel her anger boiling over. This was her chance to save her family's dying business and Harry had to walk in to disrupt everything.

The passing of Mr. Riven plunged the Riven Empire into chaos, placing it in dire need of saving from bankruptcy. She had tried everything she could to save the empire, but all of them had failed.

Her last and only chance of saving the empire was to be involved in a romantic relationship with William Robertson, the heir to the Robertson Empire, one of the most powerful family in the entire country.

"I'm calling off the deal with the Moxley’s Partnership Initiative." William threatened as he put on the last piece of his suit.

The Moxley’s Partnership Initiative was a business opportunity that would transform the business and lives of everyone who qualified for it, and only three slots were allocated to the top three families in the country.

William Robertson had promised to get a slot for the Riven family in exchange for Hailey and now that Harry had walked in to disrupt his moment of pleasure, he was calling off the deal.

"Please wait, William. We can still talk about this," Hailey pleaded. "Allow me to handle this. Please I'm begging you."

Harry could no longer hold back his rage seeing his wife apologizing to her lover, and yet, not feeling remorseful for her actions towards him.

Angrily, he lounged at William, threatening to have him beaten up, but Hailey stood in his way pushing him angrily.

"Will you just get lost?" She snapped angrily.

"Hailey..." Harry' voice crackled with emotions, unable to find the right words to utter.

"Wait a minute, mister," William said, wiping his suit with a handkerchief. "How dare you touch me with your filthy hands? Do you have the slightest idea of what I can do to you? I can have you locked up for the rest of your life and no one would be able to do anything about it."

“You are such a bastard,” Harry breathed out angrily, clenching his fists and ready for a fight.

Without saying anything further, William pulled out his phone from his pocket and called the police. “I need you to come to the Rivens holding building. There’s a lunatic here who is causing trouble and I want you to have him locked up,”

Harry could almost feel his eyes pop out of their sockets hearing what William had just said. He couldn’t believe William would have the audacity to call the police to arrest him when he was the one who had broken the law by having sex with a married woman who is still married to her husband.

It wasn’t long after, that the police officers arrived, and without waiting to hear what he had to say, William ordered them to have Harry arrested, and to make sure he stays behind bars until he says otherwise.

“This man walks in here and attacks me just because I’m having a business meeting with his wife.” William had reported to the most senior police officer.

Harry was too shocked to see how the tables were gradually turning against him. His gaze met with Hailey’s hoping she’d say something in his defense, but to his greatest surprise, Hailey didn’t hesitate to take William’s side.

“Get him out of here officers. My husband has become violent lately and I’m already filing for a divorce,” Hailey replied.

Harry knew that at that point, there was nothing he could do, and turned to look at Hailey hoping she’d take back her words, but Hailey’s treatment towards him was even worse than what William had done to him.

"Get him out of my sight!" She ordered angrily.

Harry, feeling defeated, cooperated with the police officers as they led him out of Hailey's office.

"Arrrrghhhh" She growled angrily, kicking the desk.
