The muscle car drove into the compound and halted once the engine died off.

“Please Brian don’t do anything stupid as we go in. I beg of you, sweetheart.” She didn’t notice the sweetheart leaving her lips. But she noticed the comfort that accompanied it; the freedom of a chick on the wings of an eagle, knowing its burden belonged to someone else now.
