Chapter Seven

A loud clatter from the kitchen hovered through the corridor. Weiss quickly darts towards Dylan, and Natalie weasels her way towards the other girl.

"We have already uploaded it." Weiss exploded.

Natalie scratches the inside of her palm, she knows for sure that if Dorogo sees the video her family and everything she has worked hard to put in place will be ruined.

"Weiss, are you not being overly empathetic?" Dylan said.

"Oh shut up!" She sealed her hand across her lips in a fury. "I don't care how pathetic you look right now."

Dylan was too encompassed, he saw Natalie for eyes, anxiety raining through them as if they had nested there.

What should he do? He was a Dorogo and the fate of the Bush family was unknowingly in his hands now. if they know they will worship at his feet rather than treating him like a life's human being. But he kept his calm instead of ranting out. No one will believe him anyway.

Even he still finds it hard to believe.

"What about him?" Dylan was shocked by the word he heard from the side.

Dorogo on the other side will not let this slide if he figured that the patriarchs were nitpicking on Dylan.

"That shouldn't be a concern to you should it?" Dylan turns to leave.

"I know about you. There is nothing there for you to act all Saint about. Dylan"

Weiss was a bit but there is this particular trait of hers. That has to do with figuring things out before any other person.

"What do you know?" Natalie asked with curiosity.

"The fact that he's from the street and was forced to marry him to confine your infidelity."

"You can save that for the dogs." Natalie once again shook her hand to her head.

Weiss was overstepping her boundary and Dylan got angry. "I didn't know this will get to this."

Natalie just wanted him to shut up. "Dylan. . . enough!"

Dylan? Has he gotten insane or is it that he's lost fragments of his brain? He was doing this intentionally getting back at them.

Natalie didn't target anything; she halted and Dylan began to strike towards her, his eyes burning at Weiss. "Miss, you wanted an apology and you got it. Fuzzes like this will only create more problems for you than Natalie. After all, there is evidence I didn't bug shoulders with you."

Weiss clicked her tongue. Her head turned to the side in shock. "Hey! You peasant! Do you think you obey the law or how justice is to be served other than me?" She yells at the peak of her voice.

"The law is equal to anyone. You are bullying us and that will implicate you further."

Natalie smirked a little, her head looking down, and then she raised her head. "Yes, Dylan is right. In as much as you're a bully, there is evidence or you think a big suite like this where the grand soiree is held doesn't have a surveillance camera?"

Weiss became chalked and short of words, glued her tongue to the wall of her mouth, her eyes were wide as if they would stick out of the socket and started rolling on the ground.

"That doesn't count, I'm innocent, everyone here knows that I'm innocent."

Natalie felt a grip on her, Dylan gave her a warm hand to carry on.

As it seems the useless husband for the first time in a few years proved his worth by saving her from the face of shame and the scandalous bully.

"The fact that you saved me from Weiss and her group didn't make any difference to our relationship."

Dylan thought the same too but he was glad he did it to ease them of their illicit behaviour. "Anything for you Natalie."

Natalie paused, coursing the word in her head. What on earth had gotten into Dylan?

She clicked her tongue, the if in her head was nothing she would not hold on to. Dylan had been useless and that is what she knows.

"You got fired, Dylan." Natalie's voice hummed. "Wendy told me everything. Do you think it was easy working under her? You had your chance and you ruined it."

Dylan had kept it from her. He never dared mention to Natalie the sort of work he was made to carry out at the Crescent company.

Dylan had every qualification to work as a secretary or even a roaster manager in the office but all they created their power on was to insult his very existence. He sighs and grabs the umbrella.

His hand collided with another, and when he looked up he saw Ric. "Fool! You ruined the night and where do you think you're going with that."

Ric had never liked him, so while he was away Dylan felt better off but tonight seemed like it wasn't his lucky night.

Natalie had kept her distance from Dylan like a plague from the shock Dylan had some balls. With every step she takes, she knows Dylan had his eyes on her. She turn to her left and saw her stepmother with Lucien then grabbed a flute from the tray and went to the corner.

"I don't want to be part of this." She elaborated. "The collaboration with the foreign company. . ." Natalie sighed talking to one of her workers.

She had never for once thought that Dylan would be the one to figure out about her project, the very one she had kept from everyone in their house. The old money style inspiration she felt in her guts and believed that the old style of dressing would become the latest trend in the modern world.

"Well talk about this later, for now, I want you to concentrate on the party."

Dylan looked down, he brushed his hands through his hair like he wasn't peeping on Natalie.

"Loser! Come talk the stick and get down at what you're best at doing." Wendy shouts after him.

Lucien heard this and crooked a laugh. After praising Wendy with a laughter-filled face he took his steps to the other side.

"That is what you were good at doing in the company before you stopped facing the wall like you did not hear me." No. One had disclosed the nature of work Dylan was made to do at the Crescent company.

"Just based on what you said they are cleaners everywhere to do the chore and more so this is not the company," Dylan said.

"You!" Wendy choked on her words.

"What is wrong with what I just said, a peasant like you can't just come in here and bite for free.""

Dylan smiled coldly he didn't want to argue with Wendy anymore while Lucien talked about the pleasure of the situation.

Wendy changed her face into a thunder. She never liked Dylan and more so Dylan talked back to her which even aggravated her more.

She wanted Dylan out of the greater picture but she felt the blue to prove herself the more to Lucien.

"I don't know what is keeping you this long. If you think you're kind of hired to ruin this family, I will be the first person to make sure that you don't get what you want."

Dylan ignored her and this silent treatment was proving hard on Wendy.

Wendy moved her leg and kicked the bucket. Dylan looked up to meet her even in pleasure. "Come on brand down, don't look at me like that."

Wendy turns to her side. All along the was shocked that Natalie was standing there. Natalie's silence meant she heard everything.

She might have noticed that Wendy hated her husband but she hadn't for once thought that she would bully him to the point of soaking him wet like a puppy.

She had long known that if Wendy would treat Dylan in such a way she wouldn't have resorted to her helping her husband out.

"Natalie, what are you doing here, I thought you were meeting with Ric."

Natalie was really in a quandary. "Come with me I have something to show you." She rolled her eyes.

"Don't worry. Why is Dylan soaked in the mud?" She asked

"Does that even matter? It's your useless husband after all. Dylan never fails to humiliate this family."

Natalie was exasperated at her half-sister's reaction. What did she expect? Nothing. It's Wendy and right from the onset, she had this crack not about her, hiding in her own shell.

"Natalie, you didn't have a drink with me. I would be insulted if I didn't get to drink and have a ball dance with you." Lucien interrupted.

Wendy rolled her eyes. "Natalie was just going home, isn't that right sister?"

Natalie was not in her best mode, she eyed Wendy and then looked at Dylan.

Dylan stood up and moved an inch away from the incident. "Yes of course it would be belittling of me."

Dylan squeezed the towel on his hands and then stormed out of the room. Not Lucien, that bastard that is hiding under sheep's clothing. Natalie was exasperated at the thought of what Wendy did.

"Shall we?" Lucien, feeling like he's achieved a trophy, stretched out his hands to receive Natalies.

She knew that what Wendy did today was a great insult and how she found out about the underrating treatment they have given to Dylan at the Crescents.

"You can be better than this. I will never let such a pompous man like Lucien take my wife away like that if I were you."

Dylan turns to his side. "But you're not me. you good for nothing it's obvious you have no other choice, do you? Haha." the raunchy voice echoed in Dylan ear.

Dylan was very depressed and annoyed; he didn't expect that anyone would advise him like that. He raised his head. "Besotted fool, now the divorce paper is ready. Natalie will marry Lucien."

Divorce paper? That was too soon. Dylan's anxiety rose, his heart was beating hastily as a drum-like they wanted to bulge into halves. This is too soon. He can't afford this. His mission will be ruined.
