Chapter Three

3, The Masked Son in law

The laughter roared in the room, Dylan looked at them with pity, then later scoffed.

"Sounds like a dry joke to me." The doctor said, "What can you afford here, like seriously, painkiller drugs are over two dollars, from your shabby look I can sense you haven't made a cent today."

Dylan forced a smile and stared at them. "Look, he is just as speechless as a moron, he can't speak, can he? What a pity, he must have seen himself in the mirror over there."

"He's no star or anything, just to think he's a huddled piece of prawn." The nurse purses her lips in disdain and sneers.

Dylan was not amused by their rants, there were so many people in the world these days who judge others by their appearance.

"Well you can see, we're not remorseful but grateful you got yourself another helper. We're no charity like them. Excuse us, we have patients to tend to." The doctor said trying to get away from the drama they started.

Dylan didn't react; he just watched them as they turned to leave. Unexpectedly the nurse spoke.

"Don't give the patient any antibiotics anymore, they have consumed far more than they could afford." She snarled, "So many beggars nowadays yet they can't keep their sickness under their roof."

Hearing this and seeing the reaction of the patients Dylan was dumbfounded, they were too harsh to be working in such a hospital.

"What right do you have to treat everyone as you like?"

"Do you know how important I am here, let me tell you if I say no nurse should work they will obey." She fired Dylan.

Dylan was not surprised instead he flipped the coin in his hand. "What is keeping you from doing that?"

"What is keeping me?" She scoffs irritatedly. "How dare you question me, you're harassing me. You're a poor man harassing me."

"I don't think I am, you harass a client and you can get away with it, you think, harassing you becomes a great deal. You're so unbelievable."

"Who are you? Why must I stand here with a low level like you."

Dylan rolls his sleeves up. Some might think he was acting like the smarter person in the room but he wasn't.

Seeing Dylan silent the doctor turned but the nurse flared up. "Are you ignoring me because of him, as expected you don't value me anymore?"

"No no, dear don't be angry I'm trying to get ready for the VIP surgery, this isn't too much for you, is it? He's just some menial man that needs to be placed where he belongs." The doctor rashly let out.

The nurse lowered her head washed in shame. "How dare you!"

Dylan pulled out his phone and within seconds he was provided.

The patients in blue robes by the side stared at Dylan desperately and the others were pitying him for picking up a stand against the two rude doctors.

"I'm going to die, it looks like he will be teased to death."

Dylan pretended not to hear and then let out a calm expression. "Are you the owner of this hospital?"

The nurse was aggravated by his drop of treacle.

"What are you waiting for, pigs like you don't stand a chance."

Dylan dropped the phone from his ear and in less than a minute a man dressed in a suit walked down.

"It's you? You wanted to see me right." The man asked politely.

"Sir, just ignore him, he's one of these mentally ill people."

The nurse reminds the man of how roughly dressed Dylan is.

"Go on, tell me why you wanted to see me. We're very busy at Bethel Hospital." Although Dylan was dressed in rags he looked far better than the statue of an ill person, he did not underestimate him.

"Yes, I was the one, I want to buy this hospital."

"You?" The man rolls his eyes and then sighs. "This is a hospital and not some restaurant."

"That is the more reason I want to buy it." Dylan's confidence was aching in their eyes.

"Okay if you insist."

"What! Sir are you going to listen to this maniac!" The nurse reminded the manager of the hospital with a pesky look.

"Bethel Hospital is one of the best here and if you want to buy it you would have to pay triple the initial worth."

The man tested Dylan, the hospital was in a financial crisis that he knew if Dylan was to buy from him he won't take long before it capsizes.

"Okay, let me know the price, prepare the contract and I will make payment."

"That would mean you're paying ten million dollars." The manager reconfirmed.

Dylan nods his head. The manager was super excited that Dylan did not bargain the price.

He rushed to the tech room and before you know it he had the contract prepared along with his account number.

His phone beeped and he opened it jumping on adrenaline at the credit alert.

"Sir, it's all yours there is nothing to waste time on." The manager dragged his pen along the paper.

When the man came out from the other lobby again, the manager felt like he was dreaming.

The nurse and the doctor were flustered, the nurse gave everyone a surprised look, what just happened was a total blackout for her.

So they have a new master now, not just a manager but the owner of the hospital was no other than the man in rags.

"In case you need anything in the future

I'm within reaching." The manager gave Dylan his card, he didn't look around after all the place was already losing its guard, he shook hands with Dylan.

"We are getting to work boss." The nurse all sweaty let out.

The nervousness was seen as camouflage all over their face, the man they underrated and insult even let his mother die is now their boss how could they not be unsettled?

"You two can get off work now," Dylan said coldly.

The doctor was dumbfounded, the nurse grinds her teeth their mean treatment had resulted terribly.

This seem like a dream to them, so this man standing before them was not poor as they thought and gr even went to extra lengths to buy the hospital just to fire them.

They knelt down instantly without minding the patients that were floating at them.

"Please sir, I have a family to take care of, I don't know what will happen to me, please don't fire me."

The nurse gave a quick look at the doctor, "What! You're talking on behalf of yourself? What about me?"

"You should speak for yourself."

"No wonder, that is the reason for everything, he skyrocketed the treatment for only VIPs."

The two of them started fighting in the hospital lobby. Dylan hissed then a frown formed on his forehead clicking his hand together he commanded the security to drive them away.

He turned to the other patient. "Don't worry you will get the treatment you deserve."

He forced a smile after making a call with the contract file by his side he walked out of the hospital.

He bordered a cab and went home, it's been more than three days running helter-skelter trying to find the money for his mother's treatment. So when he entered the sitting room he was more of a foreigner, everyone was gawking at him defiantly.

"Father wanted to have launched with you but now he is in the temple praying." The lady beside him was greater than the other man that entered with a rich aura.

He was a foreign investor and on several occasions begged the chairman to give him the most treasure he has, up till now the chairman is still lost in the prolific of his parable.

What would a rich successful man like him wants that he doesn't already have?

His eyes scanned around, and every of the family was gathered, except for the man that was beside him.

He's heard a lot about him minding what he saw was like they didn't exaggerate more on the live-in son-in-law.

He bends his head and chuckled lightheadedly, in addition to jealousy he also felt that he has the opportunity to steal someone's woman.

He looked up in scrutiny, she deserves better than this. He rubbed his hand along his scuff.

"Wayne told me you would be coming Mr Lucien but I doubt her every cause." Debbie glared at Dylan.

More of like interest he turns to Debbie. "Mother, I'm a man of class and my words too." He rubbed her palm flirting with her."Who is he?" He asked turning to Dylan.

Debbie's face fades from the soft smile. "Shameless aren't you? Why did you come back!" She slammed at his son-in-law.

Seeing how the mother-in-law shouts at him Lucien smiled, displeasing him at heart, he wondered what game she was playing to keep such a seamless guy by her side.

"I'm sorry Mother, I just couldn't. . ."

Water splashed washing his face downward, he turned to look at his in-laws on the seat with a wider grin.

"He's lazy, Mother, at the company he had the guts to walk out on me,"  Wayne said.

Debbie hearing this was a storm at heart she swung her hand backwards and flung it but before her eyes could open a hand held her back.

"Enough! You've insulted him a lot. Mother!" Debbie gnashed her teeth together, her heart burning steam.

Dylan turned to meet his wife, the other side to him, even her side profile she was like a goddess, when Lucien saw her he felt a spark in him he stood up and walked towards her.

"Aren't you ashamed of yourselves!" Natalie yells. "Dylan and I are still married yet you are hosting a bidding game to auction him out." Dylan's ear was turned upside down to him, Auction? Glancing at Dylan she couldn't help but feel sad and Dylan was surprised at the level of his wife's reaction.
