["Hello? Who is this?"] Finally, after three attempts his call was answered.
"This is Anthony, Mr's Faller. I was just calling to see how Samuel was doing" he sat in the bed with his shoes off but still had his casino dealer outfit on.
["Umm, he's fine. It's already way past his bedtime so he should be in bed sleeping. Is anything the matter?"]
After hearing this, Anthony second-guessed himself on if Samuel was okay or not.
Anthony thought that he might just be worrying for nothing. "It's nothing, I just wanted to call since it's been a while since I last did, that's all" he smiled
["It has been a minute since you called but honestly I can't blame you, not when you and my husband have something so serious like Ama— Oh, sorry I mentioned that"] she covered her mouth.
Anthony chuckled as a way to lighten the mood "You don't have to be ma, I also know how this has shaken your family so don't hold yourself on my account. I'll be just fine" he smiled
["I'm glad to hear that and you make sure you look after yourself, ok— Wait, before I forget, I heard that you left your in-laws and are now staying God knows where."] Mr's Faller had a frown on her face
"How did you hear about that? My in-laws don't look like the kind of people who would go around spreading family rumors like that" Anthony's forehead creased.
["Maxwell heard Wilson and his partner talking about it today and told me when he called to check on the house. Don't blame him if he hasn't called you too yet, he also has a lot on his plate. He's been working on a big case and I'm assuming that it's not easy dealing with workers like Wilson at the same time. Call it woman's intuition but I just don't like him"]
"That's funny Mr's Faller. Wilson is misguided, but he's nothing to worry yourself about, absolutely nothing!" Anthony's tone became mean at the end.
She looked at the clock ["Okay Anthony, if you say so. Just look after yourself and make sure you're always on a full stomach, okay? I trust that you're capable of handling your affairs without any issues"]
"Yes Mr's Faller, bye"
["Goodbye Anthony"]
Anthony's cracked phone screen was an inconvenience to him, taking several attempts to even make the call but because Mr's Faller was the one who ended it, he had no problem there.
He checked his call and message history, looking concerned.
"Why hasn't she called or messaged me yet? This isn't like her. Something about this doesn't sit well with me" he mumbled thinking and worrying about Annabelle.
He called her but the prerecorded voice told him that her phone was switched off.
"Since when does she switch off her phone?" Frowning, he dropped the phone on the bedside table top.
He had a very busy day and was feeling sleepy so he crashed on the bed without changing and slept off, not seeing multiple calls, coming through his phone hours later.
The next morning he woke up into a stretch, looking out the window, and seeing how bright the day was.
He looked bothered about what he saw because even though to others it was still very early in the morning, it was too bright to him. This isn't when he usually wakes up.
"What happened to my alarm?" he grimaced, checking his phone for the time, only to see the multiple missed calls from an hour ago.
He panicked because he wasn't expecting that many but he thought that it must have been from Annabelle since she's the only one who would do something like this.
He unlocked the phone, checked the caller ID, and immediately his eyes widened, breathing sparingly and hands shaking when he saw the ID. It was a call from the Meteor Garden private hospital and based on the frequency, this had to be an emergency call.
"Amanda!" He exclaimed, sprung out of bed, rushed straight to the hospital and the moment he ran through their sliding doors, he screamed at the nurse behind the counter.
She flinched when he rushed to her.
"I got a call from here two hours ago, can you help me check what happened? Here's the exact time and the number you called!" he grabbed her pen and wrote down his number and the time of the call. He didn't have time to dull around.
The nurse cross-matched with her records,
"Yes sir, we called you because there was something we had to report concerning the patient you placed in our care. We tried to call the other line, the Faller's this morning too but there was no answer"
He shrugged "Okay, they must be busy but I'm not here to talk about them. What's the matter with Amanda?! Why did the hospital call so many times? Did something happen to her?!" He said looking extremely desperate.
"Calm down sir, I'll need you to move back a bit cause you're scaring me right now" the nurse raised her hands and Anthony complied.
She sighed "Thank you. As for the patient, there's nothing to worry about, she is still in stable condition. There hasn't been any change to her condition at all, positive or negative"
"Huh, then why the hell did you guys call me and the Fallers if there was nothing wrong?! What's the reason for putting me in such a frightened state?! What's the matter with you people?!" Anthony's eyes were red, speaking with saliva flying out his mouth
"I can see that you're angry sir but there is a reason for us contacting you and you might be relieved once I tell you." She said with a smile
"??"
"Earlier today we were approached by someone who said they are willing to take care of all the patient's medical bills" the nurse had an encouraging look.
"What?! What are you talking about?" Anthony was flooded with confusion.
"Exactly what I just said sir, someone wants to pay for the patient's surgery and all the already incurred medical bills so the point of calling you was because we needed yours or the other family's stamp of approval before we could accept the offer," she said then turned the document he needed to sign to give his approval.
Anthony looked at the document suspiciously before flicked his eyes back to the nurse
"I have a question, just who is this person that wants to do this without being asked first? Where are they? Are they still here?" He had a mean look to him.
There was only one set of people he could think of that would want to do this and just the thought of them turned his stomach into a hot pot.
"Umm," the nurse looked around before fixing her head behind Anthony "There he is right now!" she pointed and Anthony turned around, following her finger until there he was staring face to face with this unexpected benefactor who stood paused and had a guilty look about him.
"Young master—" the person was cut short when Anthony rushed him, grabbed him by the shirt with one hand, and pressed against his neck with the other forearm.
Anthony pushed him back and slammed his back against the wall right next to the waiting chair where other patients were seating and it caused them to panic, trying to scamper.
"Forgive me Young master—" he was cut short again as Anthony's burning eyes stared right into his, saying with heated breaths
"It's you again! What the f*ck do you think you're doing here, Franklin?!"
Now we’re moving. Been trying to get to this point since the first chapter and I hoped you guys liked how I did it
Chaos ran wild as many of the patients in the main entrance of The Meteor Garden hospital scattered for either their safety or as a knee-jerk response to Anthony and Franklin. Some were patients with high sensitivity like epilepsy, autism, or Tourette so the sudden act of violence was enough to trigger them. Being among the few staff there and a proactive one at that, the nurse behind the counter hurriedly grabbed the landline and put out a call. "Can we get some medics over here in the main area, right now?! We need as much help as possible with handling the patients and also to put a stop to a visitor who's gone crazy!" she yelled into the mouthpiece then slammed the landline back on itself. The nurses were able to get to the more mentally balanced patients who only fell to the floor while trying to move away from Anthony and Franklin. As for those currently going crazy, they needed more serious help from the paramedics who were able-bodied enough to appropriately handle the sit
The paramedic who had the syringe in his hand paused, jaw dropped, leaning back and filled with utter confusion. Anthony who was seeing all of this instantly got a look of disgust aimed at Franklin and what he just did. "What the hell is wrong with you? Why would you do that, take away the only thing that’s saving your life right now?!" Anthony asked while he grimaced. He pulled himself away from Franklin and then with the anger still in him but now also mixed with a state of confusion, he pushed a weakened Franklin to the ground. "Just what the hell do you want from me?!" Anthony yelled in an exasperated manner, looking down at Franklin who was holding on to his neck and trying to breathe in as much air as he possibly could. Contrary to being the one who had inflicted pain on everyone else, physically or otherwise, Anthony looked like he was in more agony than anyone else, huffing and trying to find a way to get calm. "Alright you fool, that's enough from you. Just take a look a
"You're the—" Franklin was cut short by Anthony "You're not seriously going to talk to me while you’re like that, groveling like a lost puppy, are you? It's overkill, so just stop!" he frowned. "Huh?" Franklin raised his head in surprise but seeing that Anthony was being serious, he nodded. He said, "As you wish, young master" standing up and so did Anthony. Franklin dusted his knees, carrying on "As I was saying, you Young Master are the long lost, thought to be deceased, real heir to the Midnight family fortune and I'm here to take you back home so that you can reclaim what rightfully belongs to you" Anthony tilted his head to the left, slowly "Midnight? Who and what's that supposed to be and how am I the rightful heir as you say?" He grimaced skeptically. "MIDNIGHT, that's the real name of your family lineage, young master. I know you’re confused but the truth is that you aren't a STAR— No, pardon my blunder because what I just said could have come off wrong and easily misund
("Franklin, I know this isn't much to make up for the heartaches I've caused, but if you'll accept it, let this gift grant you freedom") The unexpected question from Anthony forced a memory to pop into Franklin's head. This was a memory that from the looks on his face, he didn't understand the significance of it either. 'Why am I remembering this now?' He questioned himself before taking in a very deep breath with closed eyes and releasing it in a calm sigh. "Young Master, the truth is I have no idea why you can't read my thoughts either. The best I can do is remember a moment in my past, during my former master’s last moments, he bestowed on me a gift, with words hoping that I obtain freedom. Though I didn't understand what he meant by that at the time, my guess is that's the reason you can't access my mind. I've been freed from another's control" Anthony watched him, thinking to himself 'if what he says is true then does that mean I too can manipulate others’ minds beyond just r
Instantly, Anthony's body wanted to start vibrating as the anger he was feeling from seeing Samuel hurt had skyrocketed out of control. But, just as quickly he contained it with a deep breath and a sigh 'I guess it was a result of how hard Franklin must have grabbed his wrist when he tried to save him from being hit. A sprained wrist is a much better alternative to what could have happened if he wasn't there. Looking back now I guess I was kinda being hard on him for no reason’ Anthony thought in both acceptance and guilt. Meanwhile, an angered Mr's Faller who wasn't there when the incident happened and so didn't know what Anthony does, dragged Samuel along to where Franklin was standing to confront him. Anthony followed behind her, wanting to smooth things over as he was the only person who knew both parties and was there when the accident happened, so he felt like he knew enough to try and defend Franklin. "You should try and get calm Mr's Faller, I don't think you should be angr
"Huh?!" Samuel exclaimed and so did his mother. She said "That's going too far Anthony! How can you tell him to do that in front of Samuel. This has to stop, right now!" her anger had switched targets. Anthony who was being reproached didn't look bothered by her contention with what he had said. He looked at her through the corner of his eyes and responded "This is what has to happen Mr's Faller so don't try to interrupt it" 'His eyes, why does he look so different from before? He's frightening me. Just who did Maxwell bring home into our family as a friend?' Mr's Faller thought, genuinely terrified by what was going on. Everything sounded absurd but what she never expected to happen in a million years was to see Franklin going down to the ground to grovel at Samuel’s feet. "Huh? What are you doing?" She turned to question Franklin with a look of disgust on her face. "As the friends of my Young Master, it is my greatest mistake to have hurt you and not immediately repent and apo
"I want to buy two tickets please!" was the set of words that came flying the moment this person walked up to the ticket counter, right by the entrance of The Nostalgia cinema. "Okay, what movie will you be seeing and would you like to get a bag of popcorn and a drink with that?" Anthony asked, standing at the other side of the counter where movie tickets and snacks are sold. Meanwhile, the customer stood in front of him, waiting for the tickets he just asked for and having his wallet in hand, ready to pay for it. "Umm, I want to see the— Umm, the new movie that you guys have been advertising everywhere since the start of this week. You know the one based on that amazing light novel with the guy and the Umm— what's the name again?" The customer was lost for words, trying to recollect the title of the exact movie he came here to see but was having difficulty doing it. "If the light novel is that amazing then how come you don't remember the name?" Anthony asked with a skeptical gaze
Where the assault was happening was someplace close to the entrance of one of the movie theaters, the same one with the poster for the same movie this customer had bought the tickets for. Because the ticket takers who were the only authority in the cinema were at the end of the short corridor leading to the theater itself, even though they were the closest ones to the assault and were supposed to do something about it, they ended up not being aware of its existence. "Come on girl, how many times do I gotta ask before you drop them digits, huh? Quit playing this game of hard-to-get and just do as you're told!" said a tall young guy with a grin and lustful stare. He was leaning uncomfortably close to a young female of similar age and she was in a defensive position, doing her best to move away from him. Unfortunately, she wasn't allowed to. "I said no! How many more times do I have to tell you that I have a boyfriend and I came here with him, so stop pestering me, all three of you!"
