After Anthony's call ended, it took exactly thirty minutes for two black vans to drive into Neon Grove, each packed to the limit with people all dressed in black hoodies, black baseball hats, black nose masks, black denim pants but surprisingly pure white canvas shoes. They were in uniform.
These two vans drove fast and carelessly, almost hitting people but thankfully they didn't.
"Where in the world are they going like that?" People asked themselves, only for the vans to take a right turn, and parking in front of the Untitled Hotel moments later.
All the people inside the vans came out and the person who had been in the passenger seat of the first van lead the charge while the rest gathered at one spot.
He had an access card in one hand and in the other hand was a sealed brown paper bag. They were in a hurry so he unlocked the hotel.
"Alright people, you know what to do!" He signaled to everyone and in a rush, they all went into the Untitled Hotel.
They split up at the elevator with the leader carrying the paper back into the elevator and the others went into the broom closet where they grabbed cleaning supplies, organized themselves, and started to clean everything.
Everything was happening so fast that it was very obvious that these people weren't new to this job and when the leader finally entered the elevator, he gave his final instruction before ascending.
"Once you're done here, head to the top floor where the guest is and be sharp with it!" he said and up he went.
Anthony had used that thirty minutes to get clean up, even going as far as shaving his beard off.
He was sitting on the bed with his hair still dripping wet, a towel around his neck while he counted the money from the envelopes
For the Casino, he had used five thousand dollars from the money he got for selling his motorcycle to buy gaming chips and now he only had thirty thousand dollars stacked on one side.
On another side was what was left from the five thousand dollars he got from the bank after taking out the amount for transporting himself everywhere today, what he ate at the Grand Blue Restaurant, as well as what he spent in a cinema.
*KNOCK* *KNOCK*
The minute he finished counting he heard three consecutive knocks on the door with the following phrase "Special deliver"
He knew what that meant so he opened the drawer and gently placed the smaller stack of cash in it but as for the bigger stack, he put it back into the envelope and then went to open the door with it.
"Here's what you ordered, Sir" the man in black said once Anthony opened the door
"You're the guy I talked to on the phone aren't you?" Anthony smiled
"Yes," he pushed the bag to Anthony who took it "That will be the usual amount, Sir," he said and Anthony push to him the envelope.
"Thank you, sir" The man in black said then opened the top of the envelope.
He flipped through the entire stack of cash, looking like he was able to count it precisely even though he was flipping it at an incredible speed "It's complete!"
"Of course" Anthony grinned "And will that be all?" he asked looking genuinely curious.
"Yes, I have a message for you from THE OVERSEER!"
Once Anthony heard this he chuckled in satisfaction.
This is what he truly wanted more than the contents of the paper bag. The reason why he went to all those expensive places in the first place was to catch the Overseer's attention.
"So what's the message Gam left for me? Lemme hear it!" Anthony asked with scrunched eyebrows, thinking it would be a prerecorded message but turns out that it isn't.
"The message is "I got your message—"" the man in black was just about to finish when all of a sudden his phone started to ring, interrupting him.
"Excuse me" he apologized then went on to fish his phone out.
The both of them looked curious as to who could be calling at this time because the phone the man in black had on him wasn't a phone meant for social calls.
This was the phone he uses for these type of business, with only a select people having this number to call so once it rang, he knew that it had to be an important call.
The man in black first looked at the small screen of his flip phone to see who the caller was and once he knew he turned it over to Anthony where he saw the name [THE OVERSEER] right in the middle.
He answered the call, nodded his head in response to whatever was said to him by the Overseer, then he pushed the phone to Anthony, saying "It's for you!"
Anthony took the phone, wondering why The Overseer wanted to speak with him all of a sudden. It was very odd.
The phone number was the same as what he remembered Gam the Overseer had during his time in the Mob so he thought that he might just be overthinking things.
"Didn't think I would be hearing from you this soon, Gam" Anthony smiled and then the person on the other line replied.
First, they breathed into the mouthpiece before speaking three seconds later ["I finally get to hear your voice again, Anthony"] they said.
Instantly, Anthony became shocked and then he frowned seriously.
"Who the hell is this?! This isn't Gam's voice! Who are you?!" Anthony replied
Some days ago I got news that Berserk manga was going to be continuing so as tribute to the author Gam was named after Gut’s foster father GAMBOLI I’m not sure some of you know what I’m talking about but it’s cool. Three chapters today
The Overseer chuckled at Anthony's response ["Don't worry your head about what my identity is yet, in due time I will find you. Just wait until then and don't think that you can escape me"] The Overseer spoke in a malicious tone "You're going to find me are y—" Anthony was cut off ["Give back the phone to the busboy"] the Overseer instructed and Anthony feeling rebellious hesitated in doing so. The Overseer also refused to say anything more until he had made sure that Anthony had obeyed his instructions so he had no other choice but to comply. Both the Overseer and the man in black had a very short-lived one-sided conversation before the call was cut and he returned the phone to his pocket. "What did he say?" Anthony asked the man in front of him but was met with silence before… "Goodbye, sir! You know where to reach us if you have another order" The man in black bowed his head a little then left, walking in a hurry and heading back down. *DING* Down at the lobby, the cleaners
He picked up his ID card, not caring about what she had going on beside him. "Okay, good luck with that" he started heading for the exit but… "Good thing you said that because you're the one who's gonna need it" she smirked and he stopped with his hand on the knob, turning around to face her. "What's that supposed to mean?!" He asked with a frown, sensing that what she said was a threat. She got up, walked back to her seat, and sat down without any restraint that it almost broke the spring in the seat. She continued stuffing her mouth with her food while glaring evilly at Anthony. "What did you mean by t—" he asked again but then she interrupted him. "Since you're looking to work for a restaurant of this level, you should also know that there are benefits or I should say, connections, that being the manager has presented me with. Businessmen, lawyers, doctors, politicians, Mobsters, and even families in the Hierarchy all pay a whopping amount of money just to reserve seats aroun
Outside the Grand Blue Restaurant, Anthony brought out the ID card to stare at it, about to make a left turn into the next road. "Who could have thought that this tiny thing would mean the difference between being jobless and under the control of my f*cking in-laws and now having part-time jobs in three different locations? I could have gotten my share of her hospital bills already if I had just done this since day one" he mumbled, finally turning the corner He scoffed "I guess it all happened for a reason because I wouldn't be trying to regain my power if I ha—" out of nowhere, a kid ran into him and fell to the ground. "Ouch, my butt!" The kid complained, wincing and rubbing his butt "Why don't you watch where you're walking Mr." The kid yelled, not even looking up to see who he was talking to "Huh? What the hell did you just say to me you stupid brat?!" Anthony was furious, glaring at the kid who finally looked up at him and saw who he had just run into. Instantly he shriveled
"Ah! I caught you!" Exclaimed a panting voice Seeing Samuel getting shoved and falling towards the street, Anthony screamed out his name, reflexively reaching out with one of his hands even though the distance between them was too great that he wouldn't even be able to do anything. The driver of the incoming truck panicked and smashed the brakes as hard as he could. Unfortunately, the distance between them was so small that their impact was certain, but still, he tried. The truck's tires skid forward, about to hit Samuel while at the other side of the road Anthony watched, unable to do anything. Suddenly, his eyes flicked to a few meters behind Samuel where he saw a man, an aged man in a carton brown pants suit, reaching out for Samuel. Everything happened so fast that before Anthony knew it the aged man had grabbed onto Samuel's wrist, then pulled the preteen towards himself. *VROOM* The truck passed, nobody was hit and the person on the passenger seat, whose heart felt like
Since the beginning, the manager had had his head bowed ever so slightly that it looked like he had a slouch but in truth, he didn't ("Oh, one last thing. Always remember to lower your head when in the presence of these guests.") The manager told Anthony during the interview but Anthony responded with silence at the time. The manager took that as compliance but he was wrong as he has been glaring at Anthony but Anthony wasn't lowering his head to the guests. Instead, he was looking them straight in the eyes. Angry at Anthony, the manager wanted to address the topic but couldn't in their presence so he would have to remain quiet about it until they leave. However, what he didn't expect was that both VIPs didn't seem bothered about Anthony not acting overly subservient around them. They were even more accepting of him than the manager had calculated, especially from the man on the left. "So how did you get so skilled in cards kid? You also gamble a lot?" Asked the VIP on the left,
'The features, the resemblance, it's all so uncanny' Even in the intensity of the reproach, a conflicting thought lingered in Franklin's mind as he stared at Anthony. Anthony's face didn't undergo any negative changes after being accused, he remained as unfazed and stoic as ever "What are you talking about Sir, cheating in what game?" "Don't play dumb with me kid, the others may have been too distracted to notice but I had my eyes on you the entire time and I know sleight of hand when I see it. Nothing can escape these trained eyes of mine" Franklin said. "Okay sir, sounds like you're talking about a magic show you must have gone to. Sleight of hand? How does that have anything to do with me, a simple part-timer?" Anthony scrunched his eyebrows, tilting his head to the left. "Why you!" Franklin exclaimed, smacking his tongue afterward. 'Who is this kid? He couldn't be him could he?' Franklin's glare became even more intense and with that, it was evident that he wasn't going to bac
["Hello? Who is this?"] Finally, after three attempts his call was answered. "This is Anthony, Mr's Faller. I was just calling to see how Samuel was doing" he sat in the bed with his shoes off but still had his casino dealer outfit on. ["Umm, he's fine. It's already way past his bedtime so he should be in bed sleeping. Is anything the matter?"] After hearing this, Anthony second-guessed himself on if Samuel was okay or not. Anthony thought that he might just be worrying for nothing. "It's nothing, I just wanted to call since it's been a while since I last did, that's all" he smiled ["It has been a minute since you called but honestly I can't blame you, not when you and my husband have something so serious like Ama— Oh, sorry I mentioned that"] she covered her mouth. Anthony chuckled as a way to lighten the mood "You don't have to be ma, I also know how this has shaken your family so don't hold yourself on my account. I'll be just fine" he smiled ["I'm glad to hear that and you m
Chaos ran wild as many of the patients in the main entrance of The Meteor Garden hospital scattered for either their safety or as a knee-jerk response to Anthony and Franklin. Some were patients with high sensitivity like epilepsy, autism, or Tourette so the sudden act of violence was enough to trigger them. Being among the few staff there and a proactive one at that, the nurse behind the counter hurriedly grabbed the landline and put out a call. "Can we get some medics over here in the main area, right now?! We need as much help as possible with handling the patients and also to put a stop to a visitor who's gone crazy!" she yelled into the mouthpiece then slammed the landline back on itself. The nurses were able to get to the more mentally balanced patients who only fell to the floor while trying to move away from Anthony and Franklin. As for those currently going crazy, they needed more serious help from the paramedics who were able-bodied enough to appropriately handle the sit
