Chapter 5 - Monsieur Julian Montague

“Thank God, you finally woke up.” The middle-aged man was smiling when Julian finally opened his eyes.

Julian lied on the bed in an unknown place. Julian looked at the man before he looked around the room to guess where he was. The room and the items around Julian looked very luxurious. Julian immediately knew that he was being helped by another rich man by now.

“How do you feel? Does anything hurt?" The middle-aged man approached Julian, bent down, and asked with a great concern.

Julian's gaze returned to the man, and he shook his head slowly. Julian's lips were still too tired to make a sound.

"Hurry up and get a doctor!" The man ordered the other man, who had been standing by the door.

"Yes, sir." The man in black-on-black immediately darted away from this room and called a doctor, just as he ordered to.

Julian tried to move his body and tried to sit up.

"Don't move too much; let the doctor examine you first, sir." The man held Julian's body and prevented him from moving.

Finally, Julian obeyed, and not long after that, a male doctor entered his room. The doctor immediately greeted the host with a fleeting smile before he opened his suitcase of medical equipment.

First, the doctor checked Julian's heart rate, blood pressure, and his other injuries. "His condition is getting better. However, he still needs to rest well because the impact on his head was quite hard."

"Yes, doctor. Are there any forbidden foods or anything like that?" asked the middle-aged man, confirming the details.

"Nothing like that. He just needs to rest and take the medicine I prescribed earlier. One or two days after, he will fully recover." The doctor gave Julian a glance while saying the sentence.

"Alright, thank you, doctor."

"You're welcome." The doctor packed up his things. "Then I'll excuse myself." The doctor said goodbye to the owner of the house and Julian.

Julian smiled and then stared at the doctor's departure. Suddenly, he remembered what happened before he lost his consciousness. Julian saw Aurora and the man leave his presence and enter the Kingsley house.

Julian immediately straightened up and said, "I have to get out of here."

Julian removed the blanket and then lowered his legs. Again, the middle-aged man blocked Julian's efforts. "Sir, you are still weak. Please go back to bed."

"I can't. I have to go back to that house and cancel their wedding." Julian insisted and tried to shake his head, but the pain from the bumps impacted him again.

Julian immediately closed one of his eyes to endure the pain and held his head, which was already wrapped in bandages. The man sat Julian back down on the edge of the bed and asked him to calm down. Julian had no choice but to obey because his head was throbbing hard enough which made it difficult for him to stand up.

"Don't do that again, sir. If you want to move, do it slowly." The man advised Julian.

"Thank you." Julian's head was much better. "If I may know, where am I?"

"Sir, you are at the Montague family mansion." The man answered quickly.

"Are you the owner of this house?" Julian turned to the man with a question mark on his face.

"No, I'm just a personal assistant to the owner of this house." The man flashed a smile as he answered Julian's question.

"Can I meet the owner of the house? I want to thank him for helping me." Julian explained his good intentions.

The man looked confused when Julian said he wanted to meet the owner of the house. The man didn't even answer anything and gave Julian a flat expression. Julian was also silent and confused.

"Is the owner of the house not there?" Julian confirmed it once again.

"Don't you remember?" The man actually asked Julian back.

Julian frowned and didn't know what the man meant. "Sorry, maybe it's because of the bump on my head."

Julian touched his head while thinking about the man's questioning sentence that refers to him. Honestly, Julian didn't understand it.

Instantly, the man stood up and walked out of Julian's room. Julian was left alone with a big man dressed all in black and all his confusion. Julian just tried to smile bitterly at the man in front of him while waiting for the middle-aged man to return.

"Where is he?" Julian began to feel bad when the man did not return in a minute after.

The door of the room was opened again, and the man returned with a large album in his hand. A photo album, Julian was sure about that from the cover that shows.

"What is it?" Julian asked again, curiously.

The man sat with the album on his lap. "Take a look at this, sir." The man handed him the photo album.

"Excuse me, but what does the owner of the house have to do with this photo album?" Julian was getting confused.

"Open it first, sir." The man still forced Julian to open it.

Finally, inevitably, Julian accepted the photo album and began to open it. Julian opened the album carefully and started from the very first page. Julian saw a photo of a baby boy with his father.

While looking at the photos, Julian felt happy to see them. He imagined himself with his father, whom he never knew where he was.

"What letter is this?" Julian asked when the next page was no longer filled with their photos but with a letter.

"Read it, sir."

"May I?" Julian felt uncomfortable that he had come this far.

The man simply nodded his head, giving Julian his approval. Julian immediately opened the letter and then read it slowly. The letter was nothing more than a will written by a father for his son.

"Julian Montague?" Julian said the name loud enough until the man beside him could hear.

Julian raised his face and looked at the man. The middle-aged man looked back at Julian and nodded his head. Of course, Julian didn't know what the meaning behind the nod was.

"It is you, sir." The middle-aged man explained.

Like being hit by a ladder, Julian's head immediately throbbed just thinking about this. Julian held one side of his aching head and then held it.

Julian turned his head and asked again, "What do you mean?"

"You are Julian Montague, the baby boy in those pictures." The man turned the page before.

Julian stared at the photo, and he watched carefully. Julian couldn't remember anything at all. Julian was too young at the time to remember all these events. Julian also never knew his last name because it had been changed to the Kingsley surname.

"Are you sure? I don't know any of this." Julian told the truth.

"I am very sure, sir. I have always watched over you from a distance because I personally placed you in the Kingsley family." The middle-aged man explained everything in no time.

"But... but, why?" The words from Julian's mouth could not come out at all.

"Sorry, sir. But this is all because of the wishes of Mr. Michael Montague, your father." The man bowed his head with pity.

"Is Mr. Michael Montague my father's name?" Julian confirmed once again what he had just heard.

"Yes, sir."

"Then, where is he now? I want to meet him." Julian really wanted to meet Michael if it was true that he was Julian's father.

"Mr. Michael passed away just a week ago." The man answered with a sad look on his face.

Julian didn't know how to react anymore. All these things happened so fast in such a short time. Julian could only remain silent and unable to give any response.

"Mr. Michael left all this inheritance to you, sir." The man continued his speech. "So, now the owner of this mansion and everything that he left behind is yours, Mr. Julian Montague."

The man bowed his head, as if he were paying respect to Julian. Meanwhile, Julian still needed time to process all this. Julian couldn't believe this house was now his. Julian felt there must be something he had to sacrifice to get all of this.

"May I know, what is your name, sir?" Julian asked the middle-aged men.

"My name is Hale, sir." Hale answered briefly.

"Well then, Mr. Hale, may I ask you a favor?" Julian tried to take advantage of the situation.

"Anything, sir." Hale answered with confidence.

"I would like to..."
