144: Hiding
Emily sat with her family that morning for breakfast. The clinking of utensils against plates filled the air as they enjoyed their morning meal together. Mr. Walter, Emily's grandfather, entertained them with stories from his youth, his laughter filling the room.

Suddenly, Emily's expression shifted, a flicker of discomfort crossing her face as a wave of nausea washed over her. Without a word, she pushed her chair back hastily, her hand clamped over her mouth as she rushed from the table and disappeared into her room.

"Emily, dear, what's the matter?" Dolores, Emily's mother, asked, her voice filled with concern as she glanced around the table at her bewildered family.

"I don't know," Emily's father replied, furrowing his brow in worry. "She seemed perfectly fine just a moment ago."

Mia, Emily's younger sister, looked on with wide eyes, her confusion mirroring that of the rest of the family. "Do you think she's sick?" she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
