When Duncan mentioned Dennis's ex-wife, his countenance changed. He gave Duncan a wry smile and said
"That won't be necessary, my Lord, she divorced me", Dennis said, and Lord Duncan was greatly shocked, as he wondered what kind of girl in her right mind would leave Dennis. However, when Nurse Kuza heard that Dennis was divorced, she felt greatly relieved and could not conceal her happiness."What happened between you two?" Lord Duncan asked as the nurse pushed him slowly on the stretcher, accompanied by his granddaughter."I don't think it's something I want to talk about anymore," Dennis said softly."Of course, I understand. Well, thank you again, Mr Apollo", Duncan retorted, and Dennis gave a courteous nod"I would like to take my leave now. I need to get some rest; I haven't had enough of that recently," Dennis said, and Lord Duncan smiled"Alright, Mr Apollo","Yura", he called his granddaughter"Please see to it that Mr Apollo is well compensated and take him back home", Duncan said, and Yura's face turned red in annoyance as she glared at DennisHe smiled and said, "Do not bother Duncan. I can find my way home myself. I don't need to be accompanied. Your granddaughter should remain here with you and make sure you're okay," Dennis said, trying to refrain Lord Duncan from sending his granddaughter with him.In truth, he was tired of having company and being surrounded by people all day; he just wanted a little moment of privacy where he could reflect and redefine his life now that he was no longer married to Sasha"Nonsense", Lord Duncan replied,"I don't need Yura here to take care of me. I have nurse Kuza for that, so Yura", he shifted his gaze to his granddaughter again,"You will go with Mr Apollo here and ensure that he reaches his home safely and he gets anything he wants", Duncan persisted, and at this point, Dennis and Yura gave in."Fine, Grandpa," Yura said reluctantly, glaring at Dennis. As they reached the end of the hallway, Dennis stopped walking, and the doctor also stopped the stroller."I have to leave now, Lord Duncan. Get better soon," he said and turned to walk away"Wait!" Kuza exclaimed and walked towards him nervously,"Can I have your number?" She asked shyly, nervously twirling her auburn hair and averting her gaze to the ceilingDennis smiled, noticing how uncomfortable she looked; he extended his arm out for her phone"Of course. You can keep me informed with the status of his health," he said, although knowing that was not the reason she asked for his numberNurse Kuza handed him her phone, and Dennis typed in his number,"Text me", he said teasingly and turned to walk away, with Yura trudging her feet beside him. They reached the front yard, and a black Mercedes Maybach pulled up in front of them. The driver circled and opened the doors for them, and after they entered the backseat, he turned to the driver's seat, ignited the engine, and they were off to Dennis's house.Meanwhile, after they left, Lord Duncan requested his phone and dialed his assistant. He instructed him to cancel all corporations and investments he made with Dennis's ex-wife's company to take revenge for him. When Dennis and Yura arrived at his house, they saw about three cars parked on his street. Not paying much thought to it, thinking they were just the neighbors, Dennis and Yura unlocked the door and walked into the house.Immediately, they were surrounded by several men in leather jackets, holding metal pipes, knives and bats, and Yura instantly became frightened. However, some of the men looked familiar to Dennis, and when he looked past them, he saw his ex-wife's brother, Jack's injured face, standing in the back with his mother, and he could finally recall where he saw these men. These were Jack's lackeys- gambling friends, motorcycle bike gangsters.Jack had constantly threatened him with them while Dennis was still living with them, and often brought some of them home for beer and a football game."We've been waiting for you, Dennis", Jack sneered, approaching him confidently"I told you this wasn't over, didn't I?" he said, glaring at Dennis"You did this to me", he added and shot him a wry smile"You dare lay your hands on me?!" He yelled,"I'm a very dangerous man, Dennis, and now I will show you exactly how much. Now I'm going to return the favor" Jack said with a smile and walked away."Go ahead, boys," he said, raising his fingers, giving them the signal to attackHowever, Yura sneered and turned to face Dennis, giving him a subtle look with a faint smile, and Dennis understood the look."Has he always been this arrogant?" She asked, unmoved by the threat"Well, when he's not being a mummy's boy, he gets like this sometimes. It's very hard to tell apart most times cause both look the same, whiny and pathetic," Dennis said teasingly, looking directly at Jack, which infuriated him more"That's it, you're dead!" He exclaimed, staring at Dennis evily, but then suddenly, they heard several cars pulling up outside the yard, and in a minute, the door swung open with tens of men in black suits entering the house and surrounding them. They all looked well-trained and strong, and some of them held pistols and police batons.Yura had pressed the distress button and called them in while distracting Jack and his men with her little taunts. This time she had carried her bodyguards along with her, and they looked ready for anything, greatly outnumbering Jack and his men.Dennis saw the terrified looks on Jack's gangsters, and slowly, he walked towards Yura confidently and stood beside her, staring at Jack and his mother mockingly.Jack and his mother remained unmoved as their eyes widened in shock, and their bodies trembled in fear."Looks like you're outnumbered, Jack," Dennis said with a cocky smile."What are you going to do?"Engaged in the standoff, Dennis brimmed as he saw the terrified look on Jack's face. He was very confident that he could take on Jack's thugs with his level of mastery in martial arts. However, Yura's bodyguards brought a more gratifying dread into Jack's body, and he did not have to expose his martial arts skills. He took a swig of his beer, breathed out its freshness and stared at Jack, making circles with his finger around the condensed bottle.Suddenly, he felt the bottle begin to freeze up, and then he snapped out of the trance. Slowly, he approached Jack, who was hiding behind a blockade of his thugs. Dennis smiled wryly at them, trying hard to remain composed, even as their whole body exuded fear. He sneered at them and said boldly "As you can see, Jack, I'm not as powerless as you thought."Jack gulped and bit his lips, trembling in fear"You trespass my home and bring your thugs to beat me up? You do know whatever happens now is entirely legal and all your fault", Dennis s
"What?" Dennis asked, alarmed, rushing towards her.He saw her standing near his ceramic monkey's paw, gazing at it in awe"Be careful with that," he said hurriedly and pushed her backwards. Yura glanced around the space, enthralled by the display"What is all these?" She asked, gazing at the various antiquated objects and talismans in the room."Wait, is that the tooth of the sabretooth tiger from Xiangchaun?" She asked, approaching it. Yura was a historian, and a collector of various historical artefacts rumoured to hold great powers and curses. Stumbling into Dennis's collections was like a tour through a museum for her.She turned to him sharply, her face contorted into a deep curiosity"Some of these artefacts were rumoured to be lost for years; how did you get all these?" Yura asked with a piercing concern."You don't seem like a collector. So where did you get them from?"Just then, Dennis's phone conveniently rang, saving him from having to answer the question. In truth, he wa
"I'm sorry. Did I hear you say no?" Yura asked, appalled and watched as he walked away. She stopped midstride briefly, trying to discern why he would give up on such an amazing opportunity. Lord Duncan was the wealthiest man in the city; anyone would be lucky to work for him, especially with how much he paid his workers.Yura allowed a few moments to pass and then went after Dennis"You've not even heard the details of the job," she reasoned, hoping to sway his mind"And I don't need to," Dennis riposted sharply A scoff escaped Yura's mouth. If she didn't know better, she would've thought Dennis was playing hard to get, so they would offer him more benefits and higher pay.Yura had to admit, he was driving a tough bargain so far. And come to think of it, he wasn't a typical doctor, a man with gifts such as he deserved to be paid much higher. She looked at him and decided to play along. Yura smiled faintly, hastened towards him and grabbed his hand"One million dollars a month", she
Dennis headed towards the toolshed in his backyard. He checked his watch and saw that it was 5 p.m.According to the books he read while on the island, the setting sun provided energy that was in sync with the rise of the moon. Practicing the special arts at this moment meant that one was at the peak of their energy field.Dennis House in Glendale had an outdoor toolshed a few metres away from the house, connected by a paved pathway with lush and green vegetation.Having been away for three years, these eddishes had overgrown, creating narrow walkway-like hedges to the toolshed.Dennis found this the perfect place to perform Jangi. The toolshed had an overhead glass roof, exposing it directly to the energy of the sun and the moon.As he walked through the narrow pavement, the droplets of rain formed a bubble around him, and the puddles on the ground were pushed away by the energy exuding him. This was a level of Sul only a few people could perform, where a great master could push aw
"You want me back?" Dennis exclaimed, unable to believe his ears. Letting out a breath, Dennis crossed his arms and then adjusted, trying to adjust to the thoughts in his mind. He stepped backwards and glanced at Sasha again, trying to digest his shock."Wh-what?!" Dennis's voice echoed through the room"You divorced me!" He exclaimed annoyedSeeing the frustration in Dennis's eyes, Sasha regretted her choice of words, but it was too late to take it back. "I made a mistake with you, I see it now","I didn't want to leave you, Dennis. I love you", Dennis scoffed "You love me? Do you hear how ridiculous you sound?", "If you've already forgotten, let me jog your memory; you were terrible to me, despite everything I had done for you, you threw me out of the house", "My mother threw you out of our house, not me," Sasha said and threw up her arm,"She is responsible for everything that went wrong between us. She convinced me to sign the divorce papers",Dennis stood there without talki
"Hello," she called softlyDennis blinked her into view but still could not believe she was standing in front of him.Tried as he did, he could not discern any reason why she was standing in front of him. As she continued to stare at her, he was at a loss for words. He felt his heart beating faster and his stomach felt warmer. She wore a tight lacy skirt that exposed a little bit of her thighs, with a white blouse that elegantly displayed her shoudlers, and Converse high tops. Her hair flowed graciously over her shoulders. It had been a while since Dennis had felt this much of a rush.Seeing her the other day at the Lord's mansion, he had not paid much attention to her looks; the white coveralls she wore hid her lustrous beauty and curves."Kuza?" Dennis managed to say, appalled, still enchanted by her sight. He glanced at her bare shoulders and quickly averted his eyes. She smiled at him courteously,"Hello, Mr. Apollo", Her voice soothing and enticing Dennis looked around uncomfor
Immediately after Sasha left, Kuza turned shyly to Dennis and smiled even more awkwardly.Dennis returned an awkward smile and quickly apologized "Sorry about that", he said, letting out a breath; he walked from the hallway towards the kitchen. Kuza followed and tried to lighten the mood; she waved her hand and scoffed"Oh, don't worry about that; I've had my share of bad partners. I know how it is".Dennis paused and smiled; he knew she only said that to make light of the situation and appreciated how civil she was. Shortly after, he started walking, pulled out a seat and, with a sweep of his hand, motioned courteously "Please".After Kuza sat comfortably, Dennis reached into the fridge and then turned sharply to her"Water or soda?" He asked politely. Looking at the contents in his fridge, he hoped she'd pick the former, as he didn't have any soda in his fridge. There were only cans of beer and wine, and Kuza didn't look like the kind of girl to enjoy a cold brew."Just water,"
"Think about the offer Dennis," Kuza said and patted him lightly on the shoulder. She turned to walk away but then accidentally tripped on a lamp cord.As she was about to fall, Dennis reached out and grabbed her by the waist, holding on to her.Kuza stared into his eyes deeply, she felt a sudden chill run down her spine as their faces were separated by just a few inches. After seeing Dennis with Sasha, she had been convinced that whatever she was feeling was just a spur of the moment, but staring deep into his eyes right now, she couldn't ignore it any longer. She had fallen for this enchantment of a man.Dennis's hand lightly caressed the smart of her back and his piercing Hazel eyes stared deep into the depths of her soul. She was captivated, almost like magic, she tried to speak but her voice was shaky and her lips trembled"Watch your steps," Dennis said finally breaking the intensifying moment and bringing her out of her trance.Kuza's lips curled into a shy smile, her eyes nar
