16. The Third Floor

The loud sound made everyone there turned their head to see what had happened. A heavy fog from the dust covered their sight and made some of them cough. The biggest culprit, Theodore, stumbled on the ground while trying to get up because of that explosion.

The old lady showed an angry expression. “Theo—”

“It’s not me! Okay? The door exploding itself!” But Theo defended himself quickly, saying that it was not his fault at all.

Even though the commotion happened there, the giant Gargoyle did not move at all and stayed still at its original place, like a predator that waited patiently for its prey to come.

The little fox girl, or Foxie, her current temporary name—even though it was better rather than being called ‘Hey’ or ‘You’ or ‘Trash’ and any other hurtful nicknames—ignored the commotion and focused to chew her first food for this day. She had been using her power in an excessive amount on the previous floor to burn the Flying Kick Bat monsters.

She was grateful because she could save many people's lives back there, but the power that she inherited from her family also has its flaws. She could not exceed the limit amount of her fire power use or she would explode like a ticking bomb.

So Siegrid also did not have other options except waiting for her power to fill up again with nature mana—a half beast like her used nature mana as their fuel which lead them to have infinite mana if they did not have the amount limitation.

“Sorry, did I make you startle?”

(That voice!)

She was in a rush to see the stranger that walked from behind the exploded door. Not just her, Siegrid also opened his eye in shock to find that he was still alive.

Sieg shook his head in denial. “Nah, there’s no way he could clear the floor by himself and catch us here ….”

Theodore, who was right in front of the door, was stunned in his fell place and looked straight with a pale face as if he was seeing a ghost. “Y-You’re—”

“Oh, he’s the man that saves us on the first floor! You’re alive!” A young man beside the old wise lady finished Theo’s sentence with a surprised face.

Of course, they were surprised.

Nash was supposed to die there, along with other dead bodies on the first floor. Even though he was alive, he was not expected to be here with them, on the third floor.

Nash, who has just entered the third floor with a little force, receives an unusual greeting from the remaining group members.

“How … how did you do that? No, how you could live in the first place?”

Well, how did he say it? There were no monsters anywhere so the gate would not be open again until it reset. He only saw burned monster corpses everywhere. So Nash did not have another choice except to waste his MP to explode the door.

“Is that a compliment or sarcasm?” asked Nash while raising one of his eyebrows. But before the old woman could answer, Nash walked past her and went straight to the Siegrid place. “Well, I think I wouldn’t mind retaking our duel for the second time, isn't it right, Sieg?”

“You bastard …,” murmured Siegrid while clenching his fist because of Nash’s insult. He did not know how the hell that man could escape from the first floor and even catch here.

(Is he using any cheat? No, the system is already broken now, but how?)

However, to hide his anxiety, Sieg drew a smug smirk before answering, “If you wanna lose for the second time, why not?”

Nash clicked his tongue in irritation and turned his head from Siegrid to the little girl that sat beside him. That girl did not blink and stared straight at him as if also surprised to find that he survived.

“Are you okay?” asked him in a concerned tone.

“Yes? Me? Ah—” She startled and glanced at Siegrid to see his reaction, that man looked annoyed right now and it made her want to take a little revenge. “—I’m hungry … and cold.”

“You!” Siegrid wanted to raise his palm and slapped that girl but Nash catches it right before he could slap her.

“What the heck? Now you’re a kids slapper? At first, I think you were a good guy, but now I realize that you’re trash. Total trash.”

“Let go.” Siegrid pushed Nash and got up. The tension between them raised to the level where everyone near them got chills. He gave Nash a death stare. “You wanna fight me that bad, huh—”

BUAGH!

“Fiuh,” said Nash while dusting his fist after using it to punch Siegrid right in his face. Both Siegrid and that girl fell in shock seeing Nash's sudden punch. The most shocked one was Siegrid, he almost stumbled behind if he did not balance himself quickly after receiving Nash’s punch.

(What the hell with that punch! I think he’s a greenie, but his overwhelming aura reminds me of a high-ranked player. But how is that possible?)

“Tch!” A tooth came out from Siegrid mouth and he threw it aside. “You punk, I think you’re ready to die in my hand.”

At first, Siegrid did not take Nash seriously because he did not like to play with a weak toy, it just wasted his precious time. But now Siegrid pulled back his words and considered Nash as a serious opponent. He would use all the skills that he had collected until now if it was needed.

“Wait! Just wait, please!”

Before the two of them could start their second fight, the old lady from earlier walked towards Nash’s standing place. “You …  strong gentleman, please accept my proposal.”

Nash blinked in amazement. “What? Proposal? I haven’t had a marriage thought—”

“Not that one,” cut the old lady short, before coughing in awkwardness. “It’s about the monster there.” She pointed the Gargoyle Guardian with her index finger and made Nash also turn his head toward that direction. “I beg of you, if you could defeat that monster and finished this tower, all of us will be in big debt to you and we promised to give you anything if you saves our lives again for the second time.”

“What?”
