17. Who's Gonna Help

“Shut up, old hag. I still have business with him.” Siegrid pushed the old lady behind and faced Nash again with a fuming rage. His eyes glistened red, and Nash saw some veins on Sieg’s large forehead. “I’ll make you kneel and beg for my mercy, Bastard.”

But Nash ignored him and walked past Siegrid to reach the old lady's place. He kneeled in front of her. “Are you okay, Madam?”

The old lady nodded. “I’m alright, but don’t you supposed to feel angry with us because we left you behind?”

Nash shrugged his shoulder lightly. “It’s a different matter. I’ll help you if you keep your promises, so it’s not a help but a business. How about that, Madam?”

She looked at her companions and waited for their responses, but it did not take for too long for them to agree with Nash's statement. “Yes. We’ll agree with that. We’ll give you anything if you can bring us safely from this tower.”

“Then, I’ll need a little help.” Nash heaved a relieved sigh and straightened his back. He looked around to see the remaining people there.

“You,” said Nash while pointing his index finger toward a big man that held a big shield.

“Me?” asked the big man in confusion.

“Are you a tank?”

“Yeah, why?”

“Great, I need your help to hold back the Gargoyle’s attack one or two times. You can do that?”

He gulped hard. “I … I don’t know.”

That big man glanced toward the Gargoyle monster that still stood silent in its original place. Even though he was a player and had so many experiences in defeating a dungeon tower, this was the first time his shield stuttered, and his palm was full of cold sweat as if telling that he might die if fighting with that monster.

Suddenly, his past memories flashed before his eyes.

(Greg, I know you can! You’re the best shield I’ve ever known!)

(We’ve won! We defeat that monster with our power.)

(Greg … I’m sorry to leave you behind like this. Please stay strong and don’t lose hope. Someday there’ll be the strongest person that can create a way back for you to our real world. Goodbye, Greg.)

His dead friend was the one who always encouraged him in their best or worst times, and when Greg lost him forever, he lost his life motivation and joined this raid to be busy so he could forget about his pain. But he was trapped here in a death and life situation.

Greg did not want to die, and he wanted to fulfill a dream that he made with his dead friend—to see an eternal snow mountain which was rumoured to be the prettiest view in Heaven of Terraria. In order to do that, Greg would do anything to survive, even though he must defeat his own fear.

“Yes, I’ll help you,” said Greg finally.

“Great!” exclaimed Nash. “Then I need a healer and a fire user. If we have many fire users that will be better.”

The little fox girl’s ear tingled when hearing that Nash needed a fire user. She was a fire user.

(I want to help him!)

“You dare to walk another step, and I’ll cut your feet.”

She quivered in fear when Siegrid noticed her changes in behaviour and threatened her with such ominous words. She just peeked a little at Nash and hoped that he would choose her to be his group part.

“No one?” Nash lifted one of his eyebrows. “Well. That’s bad. I can’t guarantee the success rate if only one person that help me.”

“Maybe it proves you’re not competent. I can defeat that monster alone, but I wouldn’t do that.” Siegrid grinned in a wicked way and crossed his arms, but Nash just glanced at him for a while before ignoring him again.

“Anyone?” asked Nash for the third time.

“I-I volunteer.”

A woman's voice came from behind the people’s line, making everyone turn their heads toward her to see what she looked like, including Nash himself.
