A fine looking girl with shoulder length hair and a flat bang came forward while holding her hand together. Her pale cheeks blushed red, which made her a perfect example of innocent beauty.
“What’s your name, Miss?” asked Nash abruptly, almost raptured by her breathtaking look. But Nash could handle his facial expression and act normal, he must realize that it was not a right time to think about something useless like that. Nash needed to get out of this dungeon tower safely.
“Ah … m-my name is Lisa.” Lisa, felt embarrassed because Nash was looking directly to her eyes. The real reason behind her willingness to volunteer was that Nash saved her life on the first floor back then and Lisa could not stop herself from not falling in love at the first sight with Nash.
“Miss Lisa, are you a healer?”
“Ah! Y-yes …,” murmured her, almost whispering. She even avoided direct contact with Nash, which made him started overthinking.
Nash raised one of his eyebrows and looked around to see if everyone had the same thought like him but it seemed that Lisa’s beauty had bewitched everyone, even Siegrid that clearly showed hostility toward Nash now forgot to close his half-open mouth.
(What is it? Am I saying something wrong?)
(Kyaaa! He’s so cool! No, Lisa! Go get yourself together, don’t act like a foolish girl! B-b-b-but he’s so cool and strong and handsome too, I want to hold him and hug—no! Stop it, Bad Lisa!)
If only Nash could hear Lisa’s thoughts, he would have been scared and withdrew his decision to make her a healer in his team.
“What type of healing you do, Miss Lisa?” asked Nash again.
Lisa snapped from her thought and answered real quick. “Oh! I can heal minor injuries in a wide range and give buff to maximum two people at front side, I’m sorry but my level isn’t enough to unlock the higher skill ….”
Nash replied with a light smile. “That’s enough for now. Thanks, Miss Lisa.”
He thought it was appropriate to thank someone willing to help with a smile and sincere words, but Nash did not know what kind of effect it would make if he used it to the wrong person. Like now, Lisa felt both her feet melt on its place and she could not hide her blushed cheeks anymore, and the first person who noticed that was Siegrid.
Siegrid, who was being single all entire his life, never met someone like Lisa. The first thing that popped up in his mind when saw her was: “She’s so cute, I want her to be my girlfriend.”
He even imagined how their happy life would be after this. They would have two cute little kids, boy and girl, and lived in the countryside, spending their old times together until death do them apart. But it was instantly shattered when he realized that his dream girl had a secret crush on a person he hated so much.
“We’ve got a tanker, a healer, but no fire user. That won’t do.” Nash hummed and tapped his feet on the floor, he needed a fire user in order to fulfill his plan. This was a quick plan he made solely for defeating the Gargoyle Guardian monster.
“I volunteer.”
“Huh?” Nash turned his head and dropped his jaw in great shock when finding who was speaking. “Sieg? Are you crazy? Why would you volunteer in my team? Do you want to mess it up?”
Nash cynical comment made everyone looked at Siegrid, including Lisa. She was kind of mad at him because when they got up to the second and third floors, Sieg just used the little girl as his walking shield and benefited from it.
(Such a mean and cruel man! I hate him!)
Siegrid shrugged his shoulder and even winked naughtily at Lisa, making her cringe. “Well, technically speaking, it’s not me who want to volunteer in your team, but her.”
He suddenly pushed the little girl forward and almost made her stumbled because of the chain on her feet.
“Ouch!”
“She said that she wanted to join your group earlier, she’s a blue fire user from white fox tribe, rare among the rarest,” stated Siegrid with a smug face, Nash knew that man had something under his sleeve, but he could not guess what was it. Nash then turned his gaze toward the little girl.
“You want to? I’ll not force you, it will be a hard battle for a little girl.” Nash said all of this pure from his concern, but for her, it looked like that Nash belittled her just because she looked like a child.
“I can! I want to! And don’t call me a little girl!” Her tail rose up and wagged side to side, as if told that she was angry right now. However, it was all useless because she looked like an angry kitten in Nash's view.
“Fine, fine. If you insist.” He nodded and tried to hold his laugh, then he looked up again to see Siegrid, he needed to find out what his motive was. “So, what do you want in return?”
“What?” Siegrid widen his eyes in shock. “No! Why you accuse me something bad like that? I really want to help, nothing in return.”
(That’s why I don’t trust you more, you fucking moron.)
Nash wanted to say that out loud but he did not because Nash could see the reason when caught Siegrid stole glances toward Lisa that kept hiding behind Greg.
(Oh, how love can blind someone that fast.)
He scoffed shortly and tried to ignore Siegrid. It would be good if he stayed like this for a while and did not try to pick a fight or do something worse that might cause death to all of them.
“So, it’s just three people? No more?” asked Nash while sweeping around, everyone avoided Nash eyes and turned their head somewhere else as if telling him that there were no more volunteer. “Huft, alright.”
He turned to the three people that had gathered in one place.
“Greg, Lisa, and …?”
“You can call her anything, a slave didn’t need a name anyway. How about calling her ‘dirty little slave’? That’s a good idea, right?”
Nash gave a sharp glance to Siegrid because of his lousy mouth.
“What? You wanna fight, huh?”
Nash rolled his eye and walked to the little girl, before kneeling in front of her. She looked scared and somehow embarrassed by Siegrid’s words. “I’m sorry to let you hear a nasty thing like that. Do you have a name … from your parents, maybe?”
She slowly looked up and stared at Nash’s jade pupils for a while before shaking her head. “I don’t remember my parents … I lost my memories.”
Nash nodded weakly. “Then what do you want to be called? Is there a name that you like?”
She kept silent for a while, Lisa and Greg also waited for her reply with a curious expression. The little fox girl never been asked like this before. People kept coming and told her that she needed to obey her master and was not allowed to speak first. But now, someone asked for her opinion?
“S … Shein. I hear that name when I’m on a cage in a carriage. It’s a princess name from foreign kingdom. I-I want to be called like that.”
“Then use it. No one gonna punish you for sharing the same name with a princess. You can do anything you want, Shein.” Nash petted Shein’s fluffy head and got up, he could feel a death stare coming from behind but he tried to ignore it.
“Greg, Lisa, and Shein. I will not lie to you that this battle going to be easy, but we can win this by working together. Greg, I need you to be behind me and receive the Gargoyle’s attack when I try to find his weakness from above. Lisa, I want you to buff and heal Greg at the same time so he will not tired quickly. And lastly, Shein, I want you to make your strongest fire and shoot it when I give a hand signal. You guys, got it?”
Greg, Lisa, and Shein looked at each other before nodding together.
“Yes!”
“I can do this.” Greg took a deep breath and stepped forward, his heart racing with fear and adrenaline. He knew that he had to be brave and protect his team, but the memory of losing his best friend not long ago still weighed heavily on him.As he approached the towering Gargoyle Guardian and went inside the dangerous circle, his legs started to tremble, and his hands grew clammy. But he gritted his teeth and raised his shield, ready to take on the monster.“Come on! Big boy! Throw that mace!”The Gargoyle Guardian opened its eyes and swung its massive rock mace at him, but Greg was quick to dodge and counter with a fierce blow from his sword. He felt a surge of strength and courage as he fought, his muscles burning with exertion.Despite his fear, Greg continued to press the attack, determined to protect his team. He felt a newfound sense of purpose and bravery as he battled the Gargoyle Guardian, his heart pounding with every blow.“I hold him! Nash!!!!!” screamed Greg with all his
“Woah, this room is so big!” exclaimed Greg while walking inside the Breather. It was a wide room area which placed before the peak of the dungeon tower and used as a rest area. After defeating the Gargoyle Guardian monster, the Breather room door opened and everyone thundered in.“Oh—finally I can feel my feet again.”“Ahhhh, the air of temporary freedom is the best.”People started to chat with each other while sitting or lying on the ground, even some of them brought lunch and shared it together. That was unavoidable since being alive after defeating that gigantic monster sounded impossible.Well, that was true if half of the raid group members were mass killed before Nash came, but it all did not matter since everyone here was not close to each other and gathered here only because of money in the first place. Still, the grief of seeing death affected almost people here, let alone they did not reach the peak dungeon tower yet.“Excuse me, d-do you want a sandwich?” Nash, sitting an
One hour ago, when the Breather opened, and everyone rushed in to rest, there was someone who chose to remain on the third floor. But he did not do that without purpose. As a wise man once said that information could kill more than a weapon, and Siegrid had a piece of secret information that he got from one of his trusted brokers about this damned dungeon tower.‘The rumour said that in the peak of Schlydia Tower, there is a treasure room filled with gold and jewels, and guarded by a deadly tower boss monster. That’s why every player tried their luck to finish the tower but never made it back alive, so Schlyidia Tower also has another name—Man Eater Tower. But, the real reason why that tower is being called like that is not the treasure room guarded by a deadly monster—it’s in another room.’‘It is said that there is a room, deep inside the tower, hidden between the third and the Breather room, a room filled with the trapped soul that died inside the tower. If someone is qualified to
Kachak. Kachak. Kachak.“Blood, fear, revenge. We want them. We want to eat them all.”Groooo—From the entrance door, a mist made from darkness crept slowly and made everyone there shiver from indescribable fear. It was like death came to fetch them. Inside the mist was the trapped soul that turned into something horrible and awful, full of darkness and negative energy, the ghouls. The ghouls did not take human form, but the skeletons with red fire blazing behind their head skulls. They brought weapons. They had so many weapons—it looked like their current weapon was based on what kind of weapon they used before they died.Aside from that, Nash and all the remaining group members have gathered in one place and created a defense position to hold back from the ghouls' attack. While Siegrid now sat on a skull throne that his ghoul armies made for him. He looked content with the devastated expression written on Nash’s face.“Bastard … why are you doing this now? Right just before the pea
“Shit,” murmured Nash while clicking his tongue when he and Shein got stuck in the middle of Ghouls’ attack wave. He could not see a way to get out from there anywhere.“Nash, behind!”Along with Shein screaming, Nash turned around his back in a fast movement and threw a ball of the sticky web from his skill Web Blast toward some ghouls who raised their weapons at him. That sticky ball glued their joints together and made those Ghouls fall to the ground, which created a domino effect for the Ghouls behind and opened a small path for them to escape.“Let’s go!”“Yes!”However, Shein also did not just sit there and do nothing. She had her own part in helping Nash.“Burn,” said her while extending her hand to both sides, fire came from her palm and burned the Ghouls alive. It was so effective since her fire could burn them into ashes—even though the soul still remained in this place and went back to their master, in this case, Siegrid. The distance left between Nash and Siegrid place was
“Shit! What are you doing to me?!”Siegrid exploded in anger when the cobwebs that Nash threw trapped him and all his Ghouls’ armies around. He wanted to move, but the sandstorm was also blocking his vision to an extent where he saw nothing but dust.“Shit! Get this thing out of me!”“Smoke blade!” He activated one of his smoke skill lists and tried to cut the sticky cobwebs using it. Alas, when Nash said it was a sticky cobweb, it meant that even a scissor became useless and just glued itself to the web.“Fuck!” screamed Siegrid again, when his attempt to escape was failed. These goddamn motherfucker cobwebs hindered him even for lifting his foot from the ground. Not only did Siegrid that suffer like this, but all his Ghouls’ armies also experienced the same thing as he could hear all their screaming that was more similar to an insect’s screeching than a screaming. He looked up and saw Nash blurry figure who stood far from the cobwebs area with a bloodshot eyes. This damned sandstorm
“Everyone, stay here and don’t move until I give you order!” Nash said before running, leaving them behind with a confused face. He pierced through the sandstorm and did not stop even though the dust scratched his skin. Nash crossed his arm to cover his face from the sandstorms.“System, cancel the sandstorm,” murmured Nash while running inside the sandstorm area, searching for Shein’s exact location.[The order has been received. The sandstorm skill will be canceled in 1 … 2 … 3.]Swoooooosh—!On the count of three, all the areas that were covered in sandstorm became clear again, and all dust was wiped out. With this, the Ghouls, hindered because the dusts in the sandstorm disrupted their senses of human mana, went back to normal. Their rampage began again, and all of them were trying to get out from Nash’s cobwebs that became weaker now.But with this, he could see two figures who stood not far from the skull throne.“Shein!” called Nash again and that girl finally looked up with a
“What the fuck?”Nash could not help but curse when an almost impossible quest arrived without warning. How the hell could he defeat all the Ghouls with remaining HP and also, in a short time? It was like telling him to go die straightforwardly. However, when he was wondering about what kind of plan he could pull to finish the quest and not die in the remaining time, the Ghouls kept attacking him from all directions.“Nash! What’s this! Why did the Ghouls suddenly become so strong like this?”From behind, Greg, with his shield that got bigger almost four times the original size pierced through the Ghouls’ barrier and brought everyone behind him into Nash’s location.Nash stopped fighting and looked at Greg with a dumbfounded face for a second before he switched to a bright expression as if finding a great solution to his eternal problem. “Greg! You’ve come!”But Greg found it weird and frowned a bit. “Of course I come? We’re still in a team, right?”“T-That’s right! Don’t forget about
