The Poor Andersons

"Please watch your mouth!" Darvis' mother became very angry. "Is our daughter's engagement worth this offer of cooperation? What a bargain your daughter is!"

"You should watch your words, Mrs. Anderson. You promised to give our family 50% of the value of the cooperation, and we paid for it with the engagement of our only daughter. Now that your cooperation with Skyzone Company has failed, this engagement must be canceled at all costs."

"Stop!" Julia suddenly snapped with clenched fists and teary eyes. "Mom, are you going to do this again? Almost ten years ago, you broke up my engagement to Sebastian, and now you're going to do it to Darvis! What do you really want from me, huh?"

Julia's father spoke up, "Julia, you're our only child, it's only natural that we put all our hopes in you. You should get the best man, not one from the garbage!"

Then Mrs. Anderson said very scathingly, "Of course, Julia wouldn't have to suffer like this if you weren't infertile."

Her husband looked at her very sharply. His face was as red as an overcooked shrimp. He was angry, but the fact that he was infertile was a truth that could not be denied!

As if she couldn't stand the whole conversation, Julia suddenly grabbed her bag and ran out of the restaurant as fast as she could.

Julia's parents were soon ready to leave. There was nothing more they could get out of this meeting.

Seeing this, Darvis' mother immediately said, "We're not done yet. This engagement needs to be discussed further!"

"We are finished here, Mistress and Mr. Anderson. The engagement of Julia and Darvis is off! I will not marry my daughter to a poor loser!"

Mrs. Brown and her husband left the restaurant, soon followed by Darvis' parents.

"Please watch your mouth!" Darvis' mother became really angry. "Is our daughter's engagement worth that cooperation proposal? What a bargain your daughter is!"

"You should watch your words, Mrs. Anderson. You promised to give our family 50% of the value of the cooperation, and we paid for it with the engagement of our only daughter. Now that your cooperation with Skyzone Company has failed, this engagement must be canceled at all costs."

"Stop it!" Julia suddenly snapped with clenched fists and teary eyes. "Mum, do you intend to do something like this again? Almost ten years ago, you foiled my engagement to Sebastian, and now you're going to do it to Darvis too! What do you really want from me, huh?"

Julia's father spoke up, "Julia, you're our only child, it's only natural that we'd pin all our hopes on you. You should get the best man, not one who comes from the rubbish bin!"

Then, Mrs. Anderson said very scathingly, "Of course, Julia wouldn't have to suffer like this if you weren't infertile."

Her husband looked at her very sharply. His face was as red as an overcooked boiled crab. He was furious, but the fact that he was infertile was a truth that could not be denied at all!

As if she couldn't stand the whole conversation, Julia suddenly grabbed her bag before running out of the restaurant as fast as she could.

Julia's parents were soon getting ready to leave. There was nothing more they could get out of this meeting.

Seeing that, Darvis's mother immediately said, "We are not done yet at all. This engagement must be discussed further!"

"We're done here, mistress and mister Anderson. Julia and Darvis' engagement remains canceled! I will not marry off my daughter to a poor loser!"

Mrs. Brown and her husband left the restaurant, soon followed by Darvis' parents.

Now at the table, only Darvis was left clutching his head. The poor man never seemed to have expected that something like this would happen.

Sebastian could only chuckle after witnessing the whole 'drama'. There was a slight sense of satisfaction in his heart knowing that Darvis' engagement to Julia couldn't even last more than one night.

"Hey! What are you laughing at?"

Sebastian came to his senses. It turned out that his snickering voice was too loud for Darvis to hear.

Clearing his throat a few times to change his voice to a huskier one, Sebastian replied, "I'm not. Something funny crossed my mind, that's why I laughed. No offense."

Darvis could only snort in annoyance. He knew that the young man had just laughed at him, but he didn't dare do anything about it, because from the looks of it, the young man was not a random person.

Shortly after Darvis decided to leave, Sebastian's lunch finally arrived. He was smiling broadly. After watching all this really fun drama, his stomach felt even hungrier.

Sebastian returned to his villa to meet Thomas.

"Good afternoon, sir. Is there anything you need from me?"

"Yes, I want to go to this place." Sebastian handed Thomas a piece of paper containing the address.

The look on Thomas' face changed slightly when he read the address Sebastian had written.

It was Cone Town, a small town that was poor and backward. To the citizens of Luxington Hill, it was a hellhole that they did not want to visit in their lifetime.

Thomas wondered why Sebastian would want to go to that outcast area when everyone else was avoiding him. However, as a personal servant, Thomas knew that he had no right to question his master's decisions.

"Of course, sir. Please get into the car and I will take you to the place as soon as possible."

Throughout the journey, Mia managed to disturb Sebastian's peace by asking too many questions.

"According to the information I got, Cone Town is a very backward town. There are a lot of armed gangsters based in that town. Are you so confident that you are the son of a god that you have no fear of being shot at by them?"

"No." Sebastian shook his head with a strange smile. "They are not my enemies. They are friends."

Entering Cone Town, the scenery outside the car window became completely changed.

There was nothing to see except for the slum neighborhood and the homeless people!

They stopped at a building made of rusted zinc sheets.

Thomas quickly jumped down and opened the car door for Sebastian.

"You don't need to accompany me, Thomas. Please stay in this place," Sebastian said as he put on his sunglasses.

"B-but, sir, this neighborhood is very dangerous. I'm afraid something might happen to you if I don't protect you," Thomas said anxiously, cold sweat pouring down his forehead.

"I'll be fine." Sebastian lifted the hem of his jacket slightly and revealed a small-caliber pistol to his assistant. "I had a shooting course as a teenager, I'm sure that skill hasn't diminished even today."

Thomas swallowed. How could Sebastian have acquired that gun in just one day with his family's notorious bad reputation?

Unbeknownst to Thomas, Sebastian had bought the gun at Luxington Hill shopping center legally.

He had been rejected by the gun dealer based on the Cole Family's bad reputation, but in the face of a million dollars, the gun dealer had said nothing more than to hand over a small-caliber pistol to Sebastian.

Yes. You can't be naive, money can indeed solve everything.

Sebastian started to walk into the building when he felt the cold muzzle end of the gun against the back of his head.

Calmly, Sebastian raised both hands.

"I would like to see Dheon Jew."

"Who are you and what is your purpose in entering this place without permission?" the gunman asked.

"I'm Sebastian Cole. And what I'm here for, you don't need to know."

"Of course I do," the gunman growled. "Or I might just pull the trigger of my gun and blow your head off like a rotten watermelon."

Sebastian chuckled. "I bet you can't do that."

"You're wasting my time!"

Just before the man behind him pulled the trigger of the gun, Sebastian made a twisting motion and caught the gun pointed at him very quickly.

"What did I tell you, huh?" Sebastian grinned smugly as he pointed the gun at the man.

"Don't move!"

A dozen people came out of the darkness in the room and pointed large-caliber weapons at Sebastian. They ordered the young man to drop his weapon, but he had no intention of doing so. The situation became really tense.
