Chapter 29

Albert didn't look very happy, in fact, his face was twisted into an ugly frown as he tossed his bag on the couch and then unbuttoned his suit. Grace rolled her eyes at him. She was very uncomfortable with the fact that her husband couldn't even help the family despite all the connections he claimed to have. It was becoming obvious that Albert wasn't as powerful or wealthy as he had claimed before they got married and she had to live with that fact.

"How was work today, Dad?" Fiona asked softly as he plopped down on the couch.

"Could have been better, Back McIntyre is out of the country and that lousy daughter of his is too disrespectful to have a reasonable conversation with," he groaned frustratingly.

Grace scoffed, "All this wouldn't happen if you could just get in touch with one of your big friends and ask for help," she said. Albert glared at her, he could sense the insult coming even before she landed and he tried to avoid the topic. It was a little secret between the
