The accountant in his office was shaking like a leaf. Alexander had been questioning him for the last thirty minutes and although the man said the same thing, he was visibly nervous and would rather be anywhere but there.

"You're sure you have never missed a few transactions? Huh?" He asked again and the old man shook his head. "No, sir, all I have to do is redirect into the company's account and then the auditors bring an inventory of all our equipment and whatever other expenditures there are for the month. I've never missed any record," he said, his tone pleading.

Alexander was not a bully. As a matter of fact he'd been at the other end of that stick for quite a while to know not to treat someone else like that. As much as he wanted to get the culprit and bring justice, he wasn't willing to bully someone into admitting it when it really wasn't them. At that point, after a few hours in the air conditioned room and still managing to break into sweat, Alex was sure the accoun

At that moment, Margaret realized that someone else was in the office and she froze. Her eyes widened as she saw Pamela and Alexander and she quickly jumped down from the chair, landing on the floor and twisting her ankle. She cried out and held onto the table for balance. Alexander was a little too stunned to say anything, he simply looked at her, he just couldn't believe his eyes. No more was the timid and meek woman he saw at the office every other day, dressed in moderate clothes and acting like she couldn't look anyone in the eyes. In her place was a woman that looked fierce enough to take down both of them in a blink. She was breathing heavily through him enough, her hair was a mess of cobwebs and she was drenched in sweat. "What are you doing here, Margaret?" Alexander asked, his voice low, disbelieving, disappointed. Margaret didn't look remorseful at all, she sneered at him instead. "What do you think I'm doing? Of course I'm taking what I want!" She snapped. Pame

The fire and fight visibly drained out of Margaret and she sagged on the floor, laying the hammer down and raising her hands in surrender. The guards got to her and grabbed her by the arm, hurling her up from the floor and steadying her. It was right then that the waterworks began. Margaret began to cry fiercely, asking for Alexander's forgiveness. "Please, you said we could sorry this out, you said you'd wave it away like it never happened. I know that you're the young master, please help me!" She begged, sobbing and struggling against the guard's grasp. Alexander looked at her, he couldn't believe how easily it had all gone south. His office was a mess, he'd just accused the secretary wrongly and now he was going to have to send someone to jail and he wasn't even a month old in the company yet. The building towered over him intimidatingly, the parking lot filled with luxury vehicles he could only dream of owning. Alexander Steele inhaled deeply and squared his shoulders as he moved into the elevator. It was his fifth wedding anniversary with his wife, Fiona Tudor and he couldn't wait to surprise her with the bouquet and present in his hand. "Do you have an appointment, sir?" The receptionist asked as he walked into the lobby and stood in the queue. "I am the president's husband," he replied, a small smile on his face. The lady glared at him, looking at his boots which were quite worn. "And you want me to believe that?" She snapped, "The president can't mingle with your type." Alexander sighed, he didn't know how else to prove he was Fiona's husband. For some reason, she had told him it was best to keep their marriage low-key to avoid pressure from the outside world. And it didn't help that Fiona's mother, Magdalene Tudor, hated Alexander's guts and was banned f

Alexander walked out of the Tudor company, his head cast down. He could see the sympathetic stares of some of the staff while the others laughed at him. At the reception, he heard the lady saying, "I knew president Fiona could never be with a man like that," then the crowd laughed. Outside, under the blistering heat of the July sun, Alexander felt anger surge through him; he didn't want to break down in front of the Tudor building, so he quickly took a cab and headed home. "Where are you heading?" The driver asked and he realized that he didn't even know where he was going. If Fiona had divorced him, would they still be living together? Could he at least spend the night at the house until he could get his own place? Did he even have the money to get his own place? Some of these questions ran through his head and the driver impatiently asked him again of his destination. At the same time, his phone rang and he pulled it out of his pocket. It was his boss from the factory and h

Alexander tried to struggle but the car door had already slammed shut. The street he'd been strolling wasn't so busy, there was a very slight chance that anyone had seen him being taken into the black SUV. He shuddered at the thought of no one even knowing that he was missing talk more of coming to help him, Alexander swallowed nervously. The car seat was leather and Alexander sat sandwiched between two men. He couldn't see through the black bag over his head. His heart raced and he wondered what trouble he'd gotten into. "Did Fiona put you up to this?" He asked, his voice shaky, one of the men beside him only groaned but didn't respond. Alexander could not believe how much his day had gone south - from buying roses to being abducted. "Listen, I have signed the divorce papers, we can go our separate ways, there's no need to do this," he said, his voice shaking. "What are you talking about? What divorce?" One of the men asked, Alexander could tell from his tone that he was genui

In surprise, Alexander looked back, expecting to find someone else behind him, surely he couldn't be the one all the hefty men were bowing to. "Me?" Alexander asked, still shocked at the turn of events. The old man turned to one of them and slapped them across the face soundly. The man knelt immediately and asked for pardon. Alexander couldn't understand what was happening. "Please pardon them, young master, they will be punished for their misdeeds," the old man said, bowing respectfully. Alexander didn't even know what he was talking about but he nodded, glad to be released and now apparently in authority. The old man asked the thugs to leave them at once and they all hurried away. "I'm sorry, young master, but it hasn't been an easy task finding you," he said. "Who are you?" Alexander asked the burning question in his mind. He couldn't shake the feeling that he'd seen the old man before, but he couldn't quite recall where or when. "I'm sure you can't recall me, it's

A grand master? And heir? Alexander was still surprised at how much he'd forgotten his childhood days. Vague memories sometimes left him confused at night, he'd been too young to recall everything but he could remember Pa Harry as clearly as he did his parent's faces. "What happened that night? What happened to my parents?" He asked, the one thing he'd asked himself for many years years without any answer. The old butler sighed and shook his head, "It is an ugly memory even I do not want to relive, please, don't ruin a pleasant day with it, all you need to know is that you're safe now and the empire needs you," the old man said, excitement clearly on his face. Just then, he pulled out a golden token, much like what the guards had demanded at that entrance of the estate. "Here's the supreme royal token, it will get you whatever you want," he explained. Alexander took it, it was heavy and clearly looked like it had been crafted out of a pure good bar. Just then, his phone vib

    Chapter 31

Margaret's breath might have stopped for a while as Alexander spoke. Her eyes widened and she began to fidget. Her heart was hammering in her chest like she was going to have a seizure soon. "Are you okay?" Alexander asked her and she nodded but she looked anything but. Her face was red and she was visibly hyperventilating. "Take a seat, is everything okay?" He asked, concerned with her sudden reaction. Margaret nodded and grabbed into the edge of the table, slowly lowering herself to the seat. "I've been...it's..." She stammered but Alexander cut her in. "Calm down, I know that you just took over from Simon and all and you don't really know everything about the records but I think you can help," he said and she kept on staring at him like something was wrong. "I asked you the other day and I think you wanted to say something but there were too many faces, could you say it now?" He asked and she hummed. "Come on, Margaret, don't be afraid, is there anyone suspecting you might

    Chapter 30

Alexander was oblivious to the plans of his in-laws against him. Not only had Grace found a way to get his attention but she was going to set about it in the worst method possible. Fiona didn't want to be a part of it because she was still ashamed of how it had gone down the last time at the police station with Uncle Benson but Grace was a little more optimistic. She had crafted out a cruel scheme that had to work one way or the other. Alexander showed up at work the next day, he had a few investors to meet from Germany and he was very pleased to receive them. Not only was he trying to grow the company but he was trying to get some connections for himself too. Miss Pamela had oddly been unavailable since the phone call at the storage room that day and although the P.A mentioned that she had called in sick, Alexander didn't believe that at all. It was about 10 o'clock when Margaret tapped on his office door and told him that the investors were down stairs and ready to meet with

Albert didn't look very happy, in fact, his face was twisted into an ugly frown as he tossed his bag on the couch and then unbuttoned his suit. Grace rolled her eyes at him. She was very uncomfortable with the fact that her husband couldn't even help the family despite all the connections he claimed to have. It was becoming obvious that Albert wasn't as powerful or wealthy as he had claimed before they got married and she had to live with that fact. "How was work today, Dad?" Fiona asked softly as he plopped down on the couch. "Could have been better, Back McIntyre is out of the country and that lousy daughter of his is too disrespectful to have a reasonable conversation with," he groaned frustratingly. Grace scoffed, "All this wouldn't happen if you could just get in touch with one of your big friends and ask for help," she said. Albert glared at her, he could sense the insult coming even before she landed and he tried to avoid the topic. It was a little secret between the

Everyone was trying to talk at about the same time and the living room ended up sounding oddly like a poultry farm. Grace could barely hear herself and Fiona was still struggling to make her point known to her family. "If you guys could just listen for one freaking second!" Fiona bellowed, frustrated with the whole lecture she was getting from her entire family. Grace, her mother glared at her, clearly not interested in whatever explanation she had to give. "What could you possibly say that will make any sense to us? We have just lost the one deal that meant everything to us!" She snapped. "But we have been doing well without them and we can still survive even if the McIntyre family doesn't want to invest in our company," she argued. Gilbert, her brother, chuckled and asked if she had any idea what was actually going on in the family. "I think you have been in your own little bubble with Alexander for so long and now you're with that Same guy so you haven't really been not

    Chapter 27

Waking up earlier and getting used to the taste of black coffee was something Alexander realized he had to get used to in order to function at the Sean company. Although he was the boss and could do as he pleased, show up whenever it was convenient and never even have to wake up before noon, he realized that there was a lot more involved in becoming the heir of the family than just sitting on a high chair and barking instructions, he had to be everywhere, he had to have his eyes on everything. Being at the company for just one day has taught him to be very patient with people and to keep his head a little low if he wanted to find out anything. Harry was right, the staff in the company - at least most of them - somehow knew him and the talk with Simon had spread far, so basically everyone was on their best since they realized he would now be working at the company officially. It was early morning the next day and Alexander decided to arrive early at the office. Alicia had calle
