Chapter 43

With a rolling eyes emoji, Acer quickly forwarded her findings to the top boss. Throughout the game, she had repeatedly warned him about Texas, and now he was reaping the benefits of his arrogance. She sent him another message, this time asking him to activate her chip. They needed to get rid of her as soon as possible. It was easier to justify her abrupt exit from the game than it was to watch her take over the show.

She was confident that the majority of the pledgers would understand, and only a few members of her team would object, but the organization had been kind enough to keep her alive even though she wasn't playing the game. So she intended to use it against them.

Her boss looked at the messages, puzzled. He'd been pressing Texas' chip activator unconsciously for an hour. He had recognized what she was carrying the moment she walked out of the trap door. He didn't need to look into it; he had one similar to hers, though he only used it when he was on vacation and haunting.
