Chapter 32

Grandma Lisa POV

The light in Grandma Lisa's eyes dimmed, like a total blackout. She still remained pale for a couple of hours after leaving Darren’s room.

Darren had expected everything he had planned to go down the drain when Grandma Lisa saw his true face.

He had never forgotten to shut the door and make sure no one was coming before he took off the mask, but just a few minutes ago, he forgot, and it was the first.

His heart almost left his body; it felt like there was going to be a great cavity in his heart or that his heart would permanently leave his chest.

The only luck he had was because Grandma Lisa had somehow grown fond of him, and if there was anyone Darren was meant to trust a tiny bit, it was Grandma Lisa.

He flinched at first, but found total solace after telling her everything. He hadn’t expected her reaction—that she was going to shed tears after he told him what Mr. Reeves told Darren before he died.

She was too broken to walk herself back to her room, and Darren too
