Chapter 33

DARREN POV

Darren sat beside her on the bed she had been lying on for over three hours. At first, he was kind of skeptical about what the nurse told him—that Grandma Lisa was going to be fine and it was not serious.

He didn’t want to believe that anymore because it was over three hours and she was not flickering her eyes open yet.

The fear dissipated when he noticed she was trying to move two of her fingers beside him, and her pulse started to beat normally, not as slowly as it was a few hours ago.

Darren, at some point, felt emotion because he was seeing a mother figure in her. He never meant his mom, not his dad; he was raised in an orphanage home, and that was all he knew about himself.

He had no clue about his family and little clue about himself. He was able to let go of his nightmare after Mr. Reeves meant it to him that night.
