DECIDED

Darren returned home and began to rearrange his apartment. His anger was fierce as he thought all about the humiliation he had received from Eric and Avery because he was poor.

And now his boss didn’t allow him to explain before getting him fired from his job. That was the only job he was lucky to have, but now those two devilish couples have ruined it all.

“ Shit!” He groaned, throwing the broken pieces of his TV to the ground again. He was so tired of this hard life; wasn’t it enough to change his name to Tate at this moment?

He bit his lips as he rose on his feet to take the card the guard had given him early this morning.

"Hello,” the guard said as Darren put a call through.

"My mind is made up. I’m ready to fight against all odds after accepting to be Tate Reeves.” He clenched his fist as he told Hector. Darren felt like a shit, and he was done with people treating him poorly, and now it was a good opportunity to accept the name and rise from this poor caliber.

"We will come and pick you up immediately. Get yourself prepared.” Hector said that and hung up the call.

He threw his phone back into his pocket and began to scan the room for his bag. The room is so scattered that he had to take his time to find it.

He found it and tore off the uniform from his body while grabbing one of his faded shirts. In about a few minutes, the black BMW arrived, as though they had been waiting around for him.

"Get in the car quickly; we don’t want eyes on you. You know that you look like Tate and are entering such an expensive car.” Hector explained.

"Do I need to hide my eyes?” Darren asked as he entered the back seat of the car while Hector went around the car and hopped into the passenger seat.

"A dark shade would be enough. Here, take mine.” Hector took off his dark shade and gave it to Darren. Darren was able to see his face for the first time; he had green eyes and a not-too-calm face.

"Alright, thanks.” Darren told the shade and wore it as the driver started the engine for the car and began to drive towards the penthouse.

Hector jumped out of the car first as soon as they arrived at the parking space. Darren came out and began to view the penthouse.

He had not paid much attention to how luxurious this place was. He tilted his head above as he glanced at the glass door that Mr. Reeves was staring at during the time they spoke.

"Come on, let’s go. The boss is waiting for you.” Hector spoke to him calmly, then Darren nodded and began to follow behind him until they got through the elevator.

"I'm glad you are back on time.” Mr. Reeves said this with joy as Darren and the guard appeared in the sitting room.

"I don’t have a choice.” Darren said in a grumpy tone as he stopped in front of Mr. Reeves.

"Well, you do have a choice, but I just need you to accept being my son from now on. As Tate Reeves.” He smiled as he directed Darren to take the next seat beside him.

"Hector, bring the documents for him to sign.” Mr. Reeves headed straight to the point.

"You mentioned it was dangerous to become Tate Reeves? Why did you say that?” Darren asked while they waited for Hector.

"Wealth and power bring so many enemies to you. About that, I won’t say much, but you have to be a smart man. I know my son, Tate, was killed, but it was my fault; I didn’t watch out for it. I didn’t know my only son was being targeted.” Mr. Reeves’ voice cracked while he mentioned his dead son, but he quickly controlled it as he noticed someone was here to replace his dead son and become his new heir.

"This is the document." Hector was back and handed it over to Darren to read through.

He opened the documents and saw that the Engand Group that belonged to Mr. Reeves will now belong to him, and he will also become the chairman of the group. Shit, this was a dream. A big joke that he still couldn’t believe. How could he become CEO overnight?

The document stated that this penthouse house would belong to him and another villa, which is the family house.

Then his eyes scrolled down to the next page that stated a sum of 1000 billion dollars would be transferred to his account and he should fill out his account details below.

Once he was done reading, he stood up abruptly to exclaim. He didn’t believe what he was seeing, and he began to slap his cheeks again. And again. He had never touched such wealth.

"Sign it, Tate.” Mr. Reeves eyes brightened with happiness.

Darren took a long breath and sighed out again before he settled down on the couch and took the pen that Hector offered him.

He could barely hold the pen to sign in the appropriate position. His hands were shaking, but Mr. Reeves smiled and said that he understood his shock.

Darren signed the documents and included every other detail he was asked to.

"Thank you for accepting to be my son.” Mr. Reeves rose on his feet and gave Darren a tight hug.

"I'm glad that you trust me with all these.” Darren smiled for the first time.

"There is nobody else I could trust with this.” He answered.

"Were none of your relatives trusted or worthy of this?” Darren asked in confusion because he knew Mr. Reeves had family and even some stepbrothers.

"I would rather entrust my wealth to a total stranger than to my family. But now, you are no longer a total stranger; you are now my son, Tate Reeves.”
