Chapter 13

As his mother-in-law stared at her, Bryson swallowed a lump, his Adam's apple moving up and down uncontrollably. He couldn't meet up to her gaze as she stared at him with a sign of disgust.

"G.. Good morning, m..mo…mother-in-law," he stammered and her brows knitted more to a frown.

"Don't you ever address me like we've got a connection. I really don't see you as anyone I know. I can't believe I'm here in such a neighborhood like this one."

"Um, sorry, ma'am. Please come in," Bryson said, trying not to stutter again. He made way for her and ogled at him in a dismissive way. "It's quite cold out here so please, kindly come inside the house and take warmth."

"I should step into this cabin you call a house?" She asked him. He couldn't say a word and she exhaled and looked above her shoulder at a woman standing opposite the house.
