Chapter 6

"I will hand over all your assets to you after your graduation. In the meantime, I have a gift for you".

He handed him a sleek silver card. His grandfather's eyes twinkled with a mischievous grin.

Maxwell raised his eyebrow. His curiosity piqued.

"What is that, grandfather?".

"Upon reaching here, I thought of getting you something but I'm not sure I know what you would like. My spies did a terrible job at finding out what you desired so much. So here, take this. A credit card. It has 100 billion dollars in it. Spend it on whatever you want".

Maxwell's eyes widened, his heart racing as he stared at the card. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.

100 billion dollars? It seemed like an impossible dream.

"Grandpa, are you serious?" Maxwell stammered, his voice quivering with disbelief.

His grandfather nodded, another grin was spreading across his wrinkled face. "I'm serious as the day is long, Maxwell. "

Maxwell was in shock.100 billion dollars on a credit card was beyond anything he had ever imagined. He thought about all the things he could do with that kind of money.

Pay his rent, buy himself some food, pay his tuition, buy Vicky something nice— oh. He stopped to think.

There was no more Vickie in his life.

He fought back the aches he felt in his heart, threw his arms around his grandfather, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Grandpa," he said, his voice filled with emotion. "I will never let you down.I promise."

His grandfather patted Maxwell on the back, his eyes moist with pride. "I know you won’t".

He peeled off and stared back at the card when he heard someone chuckle. He had forgotten someone else was there with them. Mirabella.

"You're excited too easily", she busted into full laughter. Maxwell's cheeks turned red. He lowered his head to hide his face.

"I was just happy, that's all. No need to laugh at me for that".

Mirabella didn't listen. She increased her rumbles and laughed until she felt okay. She moved to him, lifted his chin with her index, and stared into his eyes.

"If that was enough to make your cheeks turn red, then what would happen when I tell you the bigger news?".

Maxwell's eyes popped open again. "What?!". He held his cousin's hands and pleaded for her to tell him with his eyes. A rush of adrenaline was in his veins.

She hesitated, building his interest the more. Maxwell clutched her in an embrace and shook her gently, "Come on cousin. Tell me".

"Alright, alright. I will'' she stopped laughing and straightened her back. She looked over at her grandfather for permission. He nodded slightly. She looked back at Maxwell again, winking at him.

"So… it seems someone might be getting married", she laughed again.

"Who?" Maxwell's questioned brows rose again.

She cleared her throat and acted seriously. "You of course. You have a fiance waiting for you".
