Chapter 16 - Foreign Blood

"What are you doing here?"

Riko was shocked and then dropped the photo frame.

Rudolf glared at Riko angrily. "How dare you enter this house!"

"I just—"

"That means you are the culprit!" Rudolf pointed the gun at Riko.

"No!"

"Raise your hand! Hurry up!"  Rudolf shouted loudly.

"No! I'm not the culprit! I came here because I want to help find Professor William!"  Riko explained frantically.

"You don't dodge anymore! You must have come here because you want to erase the traces of your crimes! Otherwise, why are you dressed all in black and wearing gloves?!"  Rudolf pointed at Riko.

'Shit!'  Riko cursed at his bad luck today.

"Quickly raise your hand before I shoot you!"

"I don't want to because I'm not the culprit!"  Riko insisted. If he raised his hand and turned himself in, that would justify all the accusations that the fierce-looking man had made.

DOR!

Rudolf shoot into the air, causing Riko to cover his ears.

"Do you still dare to oppose, me, huh?!"  Rudolf screamed in rage. He had run out of patience with the crazy young man's behavior. Riko had been bothering him at the police station for years, and now he wanted to mess up his job.

"Quickly raise your hand! Don't make me shoot you dead!"

"Okay!"  Riko spontaneously raised his hand high. He panicked and was afraid because he was not ready to die. Moreover, his revenge has not been avenged.

Rudolf immediately caught Riko and handcuffed his hands.

"I'm not the culprit, Sir! Trust me!"  Riko continues to defend himself. "Professor William is my lecture! So there's no way I wanted to hurt him!"

"Stop talking nonsense, you idiot! Come with me! You must be responsible for what you did at the police station!"  Rudolf dragged Riko to a police car parked in the yard.

 ***

"Trust me, Sir! I'm not the culprit! It wasn't me who did it! I came to William's house to help look for him!" Riko explained everything to an investigator, Fred.

"Your behavior has gone too far! We, the police, can't just believe what you say!"  Rudolf continued to scold Riko without stopping.

"Please, trust me, Sir,"  Riko begs Fred.

Fred sighed tiredly, then looked at Riko coldly. "What Rudolf said is true. If you weren't the culprit, your actions earlier would have gone too far. You could get penalized for damaging evidence or traces in the house, thus hindering police work."

"I just want to help find him! Because I'm sure, Professor William was kidnapped by a mythological creature!"

"Enough! You'd better stop talking to this crazy boy Fred! He's out of his mind!"  Rudolf cursed at Riko.

Riko clenched his fists tightly. He was fed up with all of Rudolf's insults against him.

"He'd better be thrown in jail right away! You don't have to bother interrogating him anymore!"  Rudolf suggested.

"Shut up, Rudolf. Let me handle him."  Richard stared at Rudolf sharply.

"Whatever you!"  Rudolf immediately left the room.

"Wait here until Captain Calvin arrives."

Riko smiled brightly. "So he's coming to see me?"  Finally, he has a hope to be free.

"Yes."

‡‡‡

"What did you come to Professor William's house for, Riko?"  Captain Calvin interrogates Riko in his study.

"I want to come to find him. That's all!"  Riko answered honestly.

"But your reckless actions could endanger your own life, Riko. Moreover, the police have not been able to confirm that Mr. William was kidnapped or killed. We have not even been able to investigate the culprit because he did not leave any traces at home."  Captain Calvin advised. His eyes looked worried.

Riko was wide-eyed in shock. "So Professor William was murdered?"  His heart seemed to have suddenly stopped. Sadness struck the young man's heart. He couldn't imagine if he had to lose a lecturer who loved him so much?

"I can't say for sure."

Riko looked down sadly, stunned.

"But... I want to ask you one thing."

Riko looked back at Captain Calvin with a frown. "What?"

Captain Calvin opened a desk drawer and revealed a handkerchief.

"Handkerchief?"  Riko muttered in surprise.

"This is no ordinary handkerchief."  Captain Calvin explained.

Riko was even more confused. "What do you mean, Captain?"

"I have checked in the laboratory, and it turns out that there is a strange liquid in this handkerchief, and it is liquid..."

Tok! Tok! Tok!

Captain Calvin's words were cut off when someone knocked on his door. "Come in."

When the door opened, a woman wearing a police uniform entered and approached Captain Calvin. The girl was gorgeous, even though his face looked unfriendly.

Despite his young age, he manages to work at the police station. That amazed Riko.

Who is she? Riko muttered in amazement.

"Dad, I got a report from the investigators that there was foreign blood at the house."

"Dad?"  Riko suddenly looked at Captain Calvin in shock. "So you are her father?"

The blonde-haired man chuckled. "Why do you look so surprised?"  Riko's reaction was so funny in his eyes.

"Why don't you two look alike?"  Riko chuckled.

"So he's the one the cops here often talk about?"  Valeria glanced at Riko cynically. He had heard rumors about Riko. He is considered strange because he is constantly chattering about mythological creatures.

"Have you found the mythological creature yet?"  Valerie asked mockingly.

"Stop it, Valerie! That's rude!"  Captain Calvin rebuked angrily.

"Why should I be polite to a young man who has lost his mind?"  Valerie defended herself.

Riko lowered sadly. It turns out that Valerie is the same as the people who always bully his. She's so evil. Now the girl is no longer beautiful in Riko's eyes.

"Apologize to him. Hurry up!"  Captain Calvin glared at the short-haired girl.

"Forgive me."  Valerie looked away from Riko with an expression devoid of regret.

"You …!"

"No problem, Captain."  Riko smiled a little to quell the man's anger.

Captain Calvin snorted indignantly at his daughter's behavior. "What business did you come here for?"

"I want to show you this."  Valerie handed some photos to Captain Calvin.

"Blood?"  The man muttered under his breath. The photo is of blood spots on the walls and floor at William's house.

"What's wrong, Captain?"

"The investigation team managed to find blood from a stranger besides William."

"So, whose blood is this?"

Valeria was just stunned and didn't answer.
