NUMBERS
Good name travels far and that was the case of Elliot because the stories about his bravery had travelled from mouth to mouth until his name had been known by the people all over the region, they called him different names and some even called him a demon but Elliot would laugh at these side comments because they did him no harm, being on a higher power level than everyone in his kingdom would give anybody pride but Elliot was humble and upright in all his ways, he greeted everyone with a smile and it was accustomed for him to always be the first to extend his hand of courtesy.
During his childhood; Elliot was part of a training expedition for grooming high ranked warriors and soldiers, his father signed him up for the training under the disguise of a simple commoner and that was how Elliot’s strength was tested to the extreme at such a very young age, he went through a series of training that built up his strength and due to his sword fighting skills he was able to survive through where most of his colleagues had failed and even died in the process, all of this added to his power level and it made him the strongest there was in all the land but that was not the reason why his name was so popular.
There was chaos in a small village not so far from the kingdom of Mytigon, the village was under the rule of Ivan Alexander and they paid their tribute to the king so they called unto them for help, Ivan sent his best soldiers to address the issue but none of them returned except one soldier that returned with the head of their squad captain, the soldier was bruised and battered but the surprising thing about the wounds was that there were bitemarks instead of sword cuts, the eyes of the soldier was bloodied and he was talking as if there was something else controlling him.
“Speak! Fallen one, what happened to the rest of your squad?” Ivan shouted at the mad soldier that was before him, the soldier looked from the king to the prince with eyes that looked as if they had seen the gates of hell.
“It all happened so fast, we got to the village and the first thing that we noticed was the stench of dead bodies in the air, the village was reeking of death and only a few of the people were normal, the rest of them have been infected by a sort of madness that made them to eat themselves, they snarled and behaved like savages, they no longer have control of their senses… it was a bloody massacre!! They jumped on us and they started to chew on our men… we fought back but they had supernatural strength and they overpowered us with their… NUMBERS”.
The soldier went silent and he started to mutter to himself as if he had forgotten about Elliot and Ivan, the king looked at him with a studious eye of understanding, he was familiar with this kind of incident but his son Elliot was clueless.
“What kind of sorcery might have caused that?” Elliot asked his father and the king snapped out of his luminous thoughts.
“I have seen this before, it is called the curse of the Holocaust… it is casted by a grim reaper with a high power level, the spell makes it’s victims to start eating themselves and anything that is made of flesh around them, the act of cannibalism gives the grim reaper more power” Ivan said with a voice that carried understanding, Elliot listened attentively.
“This is bad, wouldn’t the corrupted people spread out and kill other villages as well?”.
“They will do that when only the chosen twelve are remaining, the corrupted will continue eating the weaker ones and their power level will increase by every victim they take down, the twelve left will then spread out into the 4 cardinal points and start harvesting more souls for the reaper, right now I am sure that almost everybody in that village is a corrupted…” the soldier screamed like a person in distraught and he made a sudden dash at the king but in the twinkle of an eye Elliot made a dive at him and pinned the hysteric soldier to the ground.
“What has gotten into him, father?” Elliot asked as he grabbed the wrist of the soldier firmly without letting go.
“Look at his body, see the bite marks becoming blue… that means he is slowly turning corrupted” the soldier began to cry as soon as he heard the words of Ivan, he aced like a normal person again.
“Please kill me, I don’t want to be corrupted… please my king” the soldier pleaded.
“I will not soil my sword with the blood of a corrupted, my son shall complete your wish… O brave one, you have fought for our great kingdom and your name shall not be forgotten” Elliot let go of his wrists and he took a step back from the kneeling soldier and he drew the sword of the soldier from the sheath.
“I, Elliot Alexander the prince of Mytigon shall not soil my sword with the blood of a corrupted but I shall fulfil your wish with your sword and with this sword I shall use to avenge the blood of the fallen soldiers that fought by your side, rest well O brave one… your name shall not be forgotten” with a quick thrust of the sword he stabbed through the middle of chest of the soldier, the soldier gasped and sputtered black blood from his mouth.
“Thank you… your majesty… you have freed me from my suffering… I must warn you…. We are many in NUMBERS” Elliot removed the sword and the soldier dropped dead, the last words had sent chills into his spine but he was not going to go back on his promise.
“I shall take on this quest and avenge all the soldiers that have fallen victim to the grim reaper’s curse and I shall do it with this sword in my hand” he raised the black sword to the sky as a seal of his promise, Ivan nodded his head at his son and gave him the go ahead to show his strength but he gave him a warning.
“Be brave my son but also beware of their numbers, they might be a lot of them who look normal but they are already corrupted, I need you to cleanse the town and I mean every moving thing should be slain… look for the grim reaper because he must be nearby to be overseeing everything, return with his head… I want a new decoration for my training arena” Ivan knew of his son capabilities but he still sent some of his strongest soldiers to follow him but they cloaked themselves so that Elliot wouldn’t know of their presence.
NUMBERS (cont’d)Elliot had taken up the task without knowing or even thinking about the risks, he just took the sword of the fallen soldier and he took some equipment with him that he might need which included potions, knives and a retractable shield that was in the form of a ring. Elliot had no fear in his heart and his bravery was very admirable to the rest soldiers that were too scared to go the accursed village, one of the soldiers walked up to Elliot to warn the prince about the dangers that lurked within the village that he is about to plunge into without any assistance.“Your majesty, I truly admire your courage but I must try to dissuade you from such a suicide task, you are only going to get yourself killed or even worse… get corrupted by the reaper’s curse” the soldier warned the prince but Elliot had already made his mind up and he was not going back on his resolve.“Thank you for your warning but I am already aware of the dangers and the capabilities of my enemy, I am not
INHUMAN HUMAN“Now, DIE!!” one of the corrupted lunged at Elliot but with a swift movement; Elliot decapitated the corrupted, the only way to kill them was by beheading or by stabbing their hearts otherwise they will just keep coming back from the dead with fresh limbs and rejuvenated power. The first thing that Elliot did was to jump out the center of the corrupted humans, he needed to see the enemies that he was facing so with an easy leap he flew to the top of the roof and he landed like a feather, there was no corrupted on the roof yet so Elliot used his limited time to scan the area for the possible location of the reaper because he needed to end things fast before they outnumbered him.The corrupted were climbing on top of each other to get to the top of the roof, Elliot waited for them to get within good aiming distance then he started to throw his knives at them, the knives exploded on contact so he was able to take out a good number of them without much stress but he did not
HEADLESS REAPERThe reaper was an eight foot skeleton dressed in a shadow black cloak that was alive and could clutch at an enemy and even turn into big wings, the skull was covered with a black aura and the aura was over the blade of the scythe that the reaper wielded, Elliot had seen reapers from the books about demons but he was not expecting it to be so big and tall, it could split Elliot into two with that scythe but he was not still afraid, he stared the reaper down and for a quick moment the reaper lost his cool because Elliot was so overpowering, he noticed the reaper twitch his scythe a little bit and a sense of awareness came over him.“Sometimes you don’t have to even start the fight to win it, all you have to do is to have a strong and confident aura, say ‘I am strong and I am aware of the full potential of my abilities so I know that I am going to defeat you’… with that kind of mindset, you can even scare your enemy about attacking and h might reconsider his bad decision
WISTFUL DESPERATIONThe message of Constantine was passed to the king of Mytigon and it put the poor king under pressure, little did he know that his adversary was facing even more pressure than him. Elliot had returned with the head of the reaper and it was hung on the wall of the council room, he was proud that his father had congratulated him on his return but there was something that Elliot needed to clear out with his father.“Father, I thank you for putting your faith in me and letting me going on this quest but there is something that happened during my fight with the reaper’s minions” Elliot watched his father closely, he wanted to know if his father would lie to him.“What happened, my son?” Ivan asked with a calm expression, he probably already knew where the talk was headed but he stayed cool.“When I was fighting with the two mutated corrupted, one of them just fell to the ground with blood gushing out of its chest… I didn’t slay that beast with my sword or magic powers” E
A SMALL FAVOR“Life is filled with opportunities, different opportunities that can take your life to the next level and all you have to do is to grab it, seize it by the horns, your whole life depends on you choosing how to seize the moment… this moment in front of me is one that I so desired to live in, one that I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl, being the princess of a kingdom, the wife of a prince then eventually turns king and I eventually turn into a queen, it was a life that I dreamed about but I never lived it… It was hard to live your dreams when you are stuck in a town like Borcher that is beyond dilapidated and poor, there was barely any clothed children running through the streets, bandits lurked every alley and homeless people slept on the floors of the street”.“There was no money but if there was any money, it was collated and spent by the corrupt council of elders that have been ruling for years and they still had supreme rule over the whole town whic
A SMALL FAVOR IIThe ingredient that the witch needed was a flower that couldn’t be found anywhere else other than close to the mountains or the hills, the witch was too old to climb such steep places so she resorted to scouting for the flower in the lows of the valleys, she had been searching for the flower before she fell into the ditch that Morgana found her. The witch gave Morgana a small purse in which she was to put the flower into after she had plucked it, she gave Morgana a healing potion and a knife just in case she entered into any trouble on her way.“I expect you to come back with the knife unused but I am still giving you a potion just in case you get hurt while scouting for the flower, I am sure that you know your way back here but here is a magical map that will guide you in case you get lost… anything else?” the witch asked Morgana after giving her all of the necessary items that she needed for her mini quest.“Yes. I need you to tell me the exact hill that I can find
A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESSMorgana ran back to the location that the witch was supposed to be but the map was not functioning properly so she got lost, she was running round in circles and before she knew it she had ran past a tree that she had seen barely five minutes ago, Morgana sat by the foot of the tree and she lamented about her situation, she was lost, hungry and with no way to pick her way through the darkness, it was a full moon but the light could barely get through the leaves and a full moon meant that there are wolves on the prowl.Morgana could hear sounds from different creatures and some were from creatures that she could recognize but the rest were random sounds and screeches that made her almost jump out of her skin every time, she could not sleep so she decided that it was best to keep on moving since there was no place to camp around where she was, the slow trek began and she had already gotten tired because of the running that she did earlier, she walked past some group
SCREENING DAYThe day that was stipulated for the screening was a very busy one in the city of Borcher because it was during the middle of a trade fair in the market of Borcher, all the women and the young ladies gathered in the town square waiting for the announcement that would make all hell break loose. Morgana had gotten home and snuck in her room without alerting her mother who was fast asleep on one of the benches in the restaurant, it was obvious that she had been trying to wait for her daughter before she passed out on the bench, Morgana changed from her fancy clothes and she wore one of her usual clothes before she woke her mother up.“Mother, wake up… it is me Morgana” she shook her mother gently and the woman opened her green eyes slowly, she rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand before she recollected her senses.“Is it really you? Where have you been? I have been looking all over for you” she sounded so worried to the point that it almost broke Morgana’s heart but she
