CRYBABY PRINCESS
Emperor Constantine never had good luck in his life when it came to choosing a soulmate, he had married different women and even witches but none of them seem to stay with him, it was always one mayhem to another and if it wasn’t the bride running away from the palace then it would be death by an unnatural cause. The only time that he was able to find a real partner that loved him regardless of all his flaws was the day that he met a woman who was part demon and half human, the woman loved Constantine and he loved her too with all his heart but tragedy doesn’t live far from the household of the emperor.
The woman became pregnant not long after she got married to the emperor, the news broke out and the whole kingdom of Briggs was excited to hear about the arrival of a new member into the royal family to the point that they even threw a party to celebrate the news, Constantine was very happy but at the same time he was being cautious because he was aware of the bad luck that he carried on his head so he decided to go and see a shrink so that he could know about the future of his unborn child, Constantine received the prophecy but he was not satisfied still, he still felt that there was something missing and he was restless until the day of delivery came, it was then he knew what had been missing from the prophecy.
The wife of Constantine was in labor for two days and all the midwives got tired of trying to deliver the baby because the child wouldn’t just come out, the complications didn’t resolve until four days after the initial day that she was supposed to give birth and during this time Constantine had been looking for different shrinks and familiar spirits in an attempt to make the delivery successful but all of them had been telling him the same thing; it was going to be okay…even though Constantine didn’t believe them he still chose to have faith. The day that his daughter was born was a very joyous one and everybody in the kingdom celebrated with their happy king but as they celebrated with him; that was the same way that they all mourned with him as well because his wife had lost her life during childbirth.
The heart broken emperor raised his daughter with strict discipline but with a generous hand, he spoilt her with jewelry and gave her the best toys to play with, she was treated with extra care and affection as if she was the only girl in the world and that was the main reason why she grew up thinking that everything should go her way and if it didn’t then she would resolve to the last resort that usually worked in her favor… which was crying until she got her wish granted. Benita was a very beautiful and charming princess with a lot of power at her disposal due to the position of her father and the influence that his kingdom had over all the regions, Benita was interested in the art of war and she was eager to learn sword fighting which she mastered over time, she lived her life as if she was a boy and it scared her father to the point where he restricted her from such activities that would make her come off as boyish.
“Why can’t I train with the warriors? That is my favorite activity and yet you want to take that away from me? Why father?” Benita complained to her father, she was in his chambers watching him drink his wine from his chalice, she flicked her jet black hair from her face so that he could see her green eyes that were ready to tear up if her father said the negative.
“I want you to focus on things that would make you look more princess like, the kind of activities that you do are the type that a boy is supposed to do, you even go horse riding instead of you being carried about in a carriage like a princess that you are” Constantine complained to his daughter, she reminded him of her mother but she hadn’t been so boyish or toned, Benita’s face was perfectly built and beautiful with a nose that was aquiline, her eyes were slanted and her pupils were green like her mother’s, her lips was thinly cut but all of her features were perfect for her oval face, the only problem was her body which was getting toned because of the exercise she got from horse riding and sword fighting with the warriors.
“Princess-like my foot, I do not care about any of those irrelevant things… all I want is to have my fun and to do what I like to do, is that too much to ask?” she was already whining and it was a pain to hear her ear splitting whining but not to her father who saw her to be the only diamond in the rough of his life.
“I can give you anything else but all I ask of you is to follow my instructions this time, you can take part in other activities that other girls usually do” Constantine knew what was next and it was the worst part about having a spoilt princess for a daughter, regardless of her age Benita could throw a tantrum whenever her wish wasn’t granted, she would throw herself on the floor and wail until she was appeased.
“I don’t waannttt thaaatttt!! Father, you don’t love me because if you did then you would have let-” Benita was wailing and as things goes; she was supposed to have her wish granted but this time her father was low on patience.
“SHUT UP! Act your age for once! What’s with all this crying? I only told you something that was good for you but since you want to act like this then I have no other choice but to force it on you, I forbid you as your father and through the authority I have as the king of this kingdom… you shall no longer partake in any activity that I had earlier mentioned, if you disobey me then I shall have to discipline you through whipping… is that understood?” Benita stared at her father with her mouth open, she had never witnessed his wrath and he had never spoken to her in such manner before so she could do nothing but stare.
“I SAID IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?” Constantine asked again and this time Benita answered with an aggressive nod, she left his presence sobbing still and the emperor had to release a huge sigh of relief.
“Benita, you are quite an handful but I still love you no matter what… all I want is for you to be happy with a partner but that annoying Ivan is delaying the inevitable” Constantine soliloquized to himself, he loved his daughter but he wanted her to get married to the prince of Mytigon so that he could relax his mind about the prophecy but as time went on Constantine grew more impatient.
NUMBERSGood name travels far and that was the case of Elliot because the stories about his bravery had travelled from mouth to mouth until his name had been known by the people all over the region, they called him different names and some even called him a demon but Elliot would laugh at these side comments because they did him no harm, being on a higher power level than everyone in his kingdom would give anybody pride but Elliot was humble and upright in all his ways, he greeted everyone with a smile and it was accustomed for him to always be the first to extend his hand of courtesy.During his childhood; Elliot was part of a training expedition for grooming high ranked warriors and soldiers, his father signed him up for the training under the disguise of a simple commoner and that was how Elliot’s strength was tested to the extreme at such a very young age, he went through a series of training that built up his strength and due to his sword fighting skills he was able to survive th
NUMBERS (cont’d)Elliot had taken up the task without knowing or even thinking about the risks, he just took the sword of the fallen soldier and he took some equipment with him that he might need which included potions, knives and a retractable shield that was in the form of a ring. Elliot had no fear in his heart and his bravery was very admirable to the rest soldiers that were too scared to go the accursed village, one of the soldiers walked up to Elliot to warn the prince about the dangers that lurked within the village that he is about to plunge into without any assistance.“Your majesty, I truly admire your courage but I must try to dissuade you from such a suicide task, you are only going to get yourself killed or even worse… get corrupted by the reaper’s curse” the soldier warned the prince but Elliot had already made his mind up and he was not going back on his resolve.“Thank you for your warning but I am already aware of the dangers and the capabilities of my enemy, I am not
INHUMAN HUMAN“Now, DIE!!” one of the corrupted lunged at Elliot but with a swift movement; Elliot decapitated the corrupted, the only way to kill them was by beheading or by stabbing their hearts otherwise they will just keep coming back from the dead with fresh limbs and rejuvenated power. The first thing that Elliot did was to jump out the center of the corrupted humans, he needed to see the enemies that he was facing so with an easy leap he flew to the top of the roof and he landed like a feather, there was no corrupted on the roof yet so Elliot used his limited time to scan the area for the possible location of the reaper because he needed to end things fast before they outnumbered him.The corrupted were climbing on top of each other to get to the top of the roof, Elliot waited for them to get within good aiming distance then he started to throw his knives at them, the knives exploded on contact so he was able to take out a good number of them without much stress but he did not
HEADLESS REAPERThe reaper was an eight foot skeleton dressed in a shadow black cloak that was alive and could clutch at an enemy and even turn into big wings, the skull was covered with a black aura and the aura was over the blade of the scythe that the reaper wielded, Elliot had seen reapers from the books about demons but he was not expecting it to be so big and tall, it could split Elliot into two with that scythe but he was not still afraid, he stared the reaper down and for a quick moment the reaper lost his cool because Elliot was so overpowering, he noticed the reaper twitch his scythe a little bit and a sense of awareness came over him.“Sometimes you don’t have to even start the fight to win it, all you have to do is to have a strong and confident aura, say ‘I am strong and I am aware of the full potential of my abilities so I know that I am going to defeat you’… with that kind of mindset, you can even scare your enemy about attacking and h might reconsider his bad decision
WISTFUL DESPERATIONThe message of Constantine was passed to the king of Mytigon and it put the poor king under pressure, little did he know that his adversary was facing even more pressure than him. Elliot had returned with the head of the reaper and it was hung on the wall of the council room, he was proud that his father had congratulated him on his return but there was something that Elliot needed to clear out with his father.“Father, I thank you for putting your faith in me and letting me going on this quest but there is something that happened during my fight with the reaper’s minions” Elliot watched his father closely, he wanted to know if his father would lie to him.“What happened, my son?” Ivan asked with a calm expression, he probably already knew where the talk was headed but he stayed cool.“When I was fighting with the two mutated corrupted, one of them just fell to the ground with blood gushing out of its chest… I didn’t slay that beast with my sword or magic powers” E
A SMALL FAVOR“Life is filled with opportunities, different opportunities that can take your life to the next level and all you have to do is to grab it, seize it by the horns, your whole life depends on you choosing how to seize the moment… this moment in front of me is one that I so desired to live in, one that I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl, being the princess of a kingdom, the wife of a prince then eventually turns king and I eventually turn into a queen, it was a life that I dreamed about but I never lived it… It was hard to live your dreams when you are stuck in a town like Borcher that is beyond dilapidated and poor, there was barely any clothed children running through the streets, bandits lurked every alley and homeless people slept on the floors of the street”.“There was no money but if there was any money, it was collated and spent by the corrupt council of elders that have been ruling for years and they still had supreme rule over the whole town whic
A SMALL FAVOR IIThe ingredient that the witch needed was a flower that couldn’t be found anywhere else other than close to the mountains or the hills, the witch was too old to climb such steep places so she resorted to scouting for the flower in the lows of the valleys, she had been searching for the flower before she fell into the ditch that Morgana found her. The witch gave Morgana a small purse in which she was to put the flower into after she had plucked it, she gave Morgana a healing potion and a knife just in case she entered into any trouble on her way.“I expect you to come back with the knife unused but I am still giving you a potion just in case you get hurt while scouting for the flower, I am sure that you know your way back here but here is a magical map that will guide you in case you get lost… anything else?” the witch asked Morgana after giving her all of the necessary items that she needed for her mini quest.“Yes. I need you to tell me the exact hill that I can find
A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESSMorgana ran back to the location that the witch was supposed to be but the map was not functioning properly so she got lost, she was running round in circles and before she knew it she had ran past a tree that she had seen barely five minutes ago, Morgana sat by the foot of the tree and she lamented about her situation, she was lost, hungry and with no way to pick her way through the darkness, it was a full moon but the light could barely get through the leaves and a full moon meant that there are wolves on the prowl.Morgana could hear sounds from different creatures and some were from creatures that she could recognize but the rest were random sounds and screeches that made her almost jump out of her skin every time, she could not sleep so she decided that it was best to keep on moving since there was no place to camp around where she was, the slow trek began and she had already gotten tired because of the running that she did earlier, she walked past some group
