CRYBABY PRINCESS
Emperor Constantine never had good luck in his life when it came to choosing a soulmate, he had married different women and even witches but none of them seem to stay with him, it was always one mayhem to another and if it wasn’t the bride running away from the palace then it would be death by an unnatural cause. The only time that he was able to find a real partner that loved him regardless of all his flaws was the day that he met a woman who was part demon and half human, the woman loved Constantine and he loved her too with all his heart but tragedy doesn’t live far from the household of the emperor.
The woman became pregnant not long after she got married to the emperor, the news broke out and the whole kingdom of Briggs was excited to hear about the arrival of a new member into the royal family to the point that they even threw a party to celebrate the news, Constantine was very happy but at the same time he was being cautious because he was aware of the bad luck that he carried on his head so he decided to go and see a shrink so that he could know about the future of his unborn child, Constantine received the prophecy but he was not satisfied still, he still felt that there was something missing and he was restless until the day of delivery came, it was then he knew what had been missing from the prophecy.
The wife of Constantine was in labor for two days and all the midwives got tired of trying to deliver the baby because the child wouldn’t just come out, the complications didn’t resolve until four days after the initial day that she was supposed to give birth and during this time Constantine had been looking for different shrinks and familiar spirits in an attempt to make the delivery successful but all of them had been telling him the same thing; it was going to be okay…even though Constantine didn’t believe them he still chose to have faith. The day that his daughter was born was a very joyous one and everybody in the kingdom celebrated with their happy king but as they celebrated with him; that was the same way that they all mourned with him as well because his wife had lost her life during childbirth.
The heart broken emperor raised his daughter with strict discipline but with a generous hand, he spoilt her with jewelry and gave her the best toys to play with, she was treated with extra care and affection as if she was the only girl in the world and that was the main reason why she grew up thinking that everything should go her way and if it didn’t then she would resolve to the last resort that usually worked in her favor… which was crying until she got her wish granted. Benita was a very beautiful and charming princess with a lot of power at her disposal due to the position of her father and the influence that his kingdom had over all the regions, Benita was interested in the art of war and she was eager to learn sword fighting which she mastered over time, she lived her life as if she was a boy and it scared her father to the point where he restricted her from such activities that would make her come off as boyish.
“Why can’t I train with the warriors? That is my favorite activity and yet you want to take that away from me? Why father?” Benita complained to her father, she was in his chambers watching him drink his wine from his chalice, she flicked her jet black hair from her face so that he could see her green eyes that were ready to tear up if her father said the negative.
“I want you to focus on things that would make you look more princess like, the kind of activities that you do are the type that a boy is supposed to do, you even go horse riding instead of you being carried about in a carriage like a princess that you are” Constantine complained to his daughter, she reminded him of her mother but she hadn’t been so boyish or toned, Benita’s face was perfectly built and beautiful with a nose that was aquiline, her eyes were slanted and her pupils were green like her mother’s, her lips was thinly cut but all of her features were perfect for her oval face, the only problem was her body which was getting toned because of the exercise she got from horse riding and sword fighting with the warriors.
“Princess-like my foot, I do not care about any of those irrelevant things… all I want is to have my fun and to do what I like to do, is that too much to ask?” she was already whining and it was a pain to hear her ear splitting whining but not to her father who saw her to be the only diamond in the rough of his life.
“I can give you anything else but all I ask of you is to follow my instructions this time, you can take part in other activities that other girls usually do” Constantine knew what was next and it was the worst part about having a spoilt princess for a daughter, regardless of her age Benita could throw a tantrum whenever her wish wasn’t granted, she would throw herself on the floor and wail until she was appeased.
“I don’t waannttt thaaatttt!! Father, you don’t love me because if you did then you would have let-” Benita was wailing and as things goes; she was supposed to have her wish granted but this time her father was low on patience.
“SHUT UP! Act your age for once! What’s with all this crying? I only told you something that was good for you but since you want to act like this then I have no other choice but to force it on you, I forbid you as your father and through the authority I have as the king of this kingdom… you shall no longer partake in any activity that I had earlier mentioned, if you disobey me then I shall have to discipline you through whipping… is that understood?” Benita stared at her father with her mouth open, she had never witnessed his wrath and he had never spoken to her in such manner before so she could do nothing but stare.
“I SAID IS THAT UNDERSTOOD?” Constantine asked again and this time Benita answered with an aggressive nod, she left his presence sobbing still and the emperor had to release a huge sigh of relief.
“Benita, you are quite an handful but I still love you no matter what… all I want is for you to be happy with a partner but that annoying Ivan is delaying the inevitable” Constantine soliloquized to himself, he loved his daughter but he wanted her to get married to the prince of Mytigon so that he could relax his mind about the prophecy but as time went on Constantine grew more impatient.
NUMBERSGood name travels far and that was the case of Elliot because the stories about his bravery had travelled from mouth to mouth until his name had been known by the people all over the region, they called him different names and some even called him a demon but Elliot would laugh at these side comments because they did him no harm, being on a higher power level than everyone in his kingdom would give anybody pride but Elliot was humble and upright in all his ways, he greeted everyone with a smile and it was accustomed for him to always be the first to extend his hand of courtesy.During his childhood; Elliot was part of a training expedition for grooming high ranked warriors and soldiers, his father signed him up for the training under the disguise of a simple commoner and that was how Elliot’s strength was tested to the extreme at such a very young age, he went through a series of training that built up his strength and due to his sword fighting skills he was able to survive th
NUMBERS (cont’d)Elliot had taken up the task without knowing or even thinking about the risks, he just took the sword of the fallen soldier and he took some equipment with him that he might need which included potions, knives and a retractable shield that was in the form of a ring. Elliot had no fear in his heart and his bravery was very admirable to the rest soldiers that were too scared to go the accursed village, one of the soldiers walked up to Elliot to warn the prince about the dangers that lurked within the village that he is about to plunge into without any assistance.“Your majesty, I truly admire your courage but I must try to dissuade you from such a suicide task, you are only going to get yourself killed or even worse… get corrupted by the reaper’s curse” the soldier warned the prince but Elliot had already made his mind up and he was not going back on his resolve.“Thank you for your warning but I am already aware of the dangers and the capabilities of my enemy, I am not
INHUMAN HUMAN“Now, DIE!!” one of the corrupted lunged at Elliot but with a swift movement; Elliot decapitated the corrupted, the only way to kill them was by beheading or by stabbing their hearts otherwise they will just keep coming back from the dead with fresh limbs and rejuvenated power. The first thing that Elliot did was to jump out the center of the corrupted humans, he needed to see the enemies that he was facing so with an easy leap he flew to the top of the roof and he landed like a feather, there was no corrupted on the roof yet so Elliot used his limited time to scan the area for the possible location of the reaper because he needed to end things fast before they outnumbered him.The corrupted were climbing on top of each other to get to the top of the roof, Elliot waited for them to get within good aiming distance then he started to throw his knives at them, the knives exploded on contact so he was able to take out a good number of them without much stress but he did not
HEADLESS REAPERThe reaper was an eight foot skeleton dressed in a shadow black cloak that was alive and could clutch at an enemy and even turn into big wings, the skull was covered with a black aura and the aura was over the blade of the scythe that the reaper wielded, Elliot had seen reapers from the books about demons but he was not expecting it to be so big and tall, it could split Elliot into two with that scythe but he was not still afraid, he stared the reaper down and for a quick moment the reaper lost his cool because Elliot was so overpowering, he noticed the reaper twitch his scythe a little bit and a sense of awareness came over him.“Sometimes you don’t have to even start the fight to win it, all you have to do is to have a strong and confident aura, say ‘I am strong and I am aware of the full potential of my abilities so I know that I am going to defeat you’… with that kind of mindset, you can even scare your enemy about attacking and h might reconsider his bad decision
WISTFUL DESPERATIONThe message of Constantine was passed to the king of Mytigon and it put the poor king under pressure, little did he know that his adversary was facing even more pressure than him. Elliot had returned with the head of the reaper and it was hung on the wall of the council room, he was proud that his father had congratulated him on his return but there was something that Elliot needed to clear out with his father.“Father, I thank you for putting your faith in me and letting me going on this quest but there is something that happened during my fight with the reaper’s minions” Elliot watched his father closely, he wanted to know if his father would lie to him.“What happened, my son?” Ivan asked with a calm expression, he probably already knew where the talk was headed but he stayed cool.“When I was fighting with the two mutated corrupted, one of them just fell to the ground with blood gushing out of its chest… I didn’t slay that beast with my sword or magic powers” E
A SMALL FAVOR“Life is filled with opportunities, different opportunities that can take your life to the next level and all you have to do is to grab it, seize it by the horns, your whole life depends on you choosing how to seize the moment… this moment in front of me is one that I so desired to live in, one that I have been dreaming about since I was a little girl, being the princess of a kingdom, the wife of a prince then eventually turns king and I eventually turn into a queen, it was a life that I dreamed about but I never lived it… It was hard to live your dreams when you are stuck in a town like Borcher that is beyond dilapidated and poor, there was barely any clothed children running through the streets, bandits lurked every alley and homeless people slept on the floors of the street”.“There was no money but if there was any money, it was collated and spent by the corrupt council of elders that have been ruling for years and they still had supreme rule over the whole town whic
A SMALL FAVOR IIThe ingredient that the witch needed was a flower that couldn’t be found anywhere else other than close to the mountains or the hills, the witch was too old to climb such steep places so she resorted to scouting for the flower in the lows of the valleys, she had been searching for the flower before she fell into the ditch that Morgana found her. The witch gave Morgana a small purse in which she was to put the flower into after she had plucked it, she gave Morgana a healing potion and a knife just in case she entered into any trouble on her way.“I expect you to come back with the knife unused but I am still giving you a potion just in case you get hurt while scouting for the flower, I am sure that you know your way back here but here is a magical map that will guide you in case you get lost… anything else?” the witch asked Morgana after giving her all of the necessary items that she needed for her mini quest.“Yes. I need you to tell me the exact hill that I can find
A BEAUTIFUL PRINCESSMorgana ran back to the location that the witch was supposed to be but the map was not functioning properly so she got lost, she was running round in circles and before she knew it she had ran past a tree that she had seen barely five minutes ago, Morgana sat by the foot of the tree and she lamented about her situation, she was lost, hungry and with no way to pick her way through the darkness, it was a full moon but the light could barely get through the leaves and a full moon meant that there are wolves on the prowl.Morgana could hear sounds from different creatures and some were from creatures that she could recognize but the rest were random sounds and screeches that made her almost jump out of her skin every time, she could not sleep so she decided that it was best to keep on moving since there was no place to camp around where she was, the slow trek began and she had already gotten tired because of the running that she did earlier, she walked past some group
THE BALLAs the day of the ball approached quite swiftly in the sight of Elliot, he was filled with questions about what he had heard his father said about having a choice for him already. The more he tried to get his mind off it, the more he realized how interested he was and his curiosity eventually got the best of him.“Father, there is something that I have been meaning to ask you” Elliot said as they ate in the dining hall, there was only one maid and one guard standing a few yards from the big table as the father and son ate in silence, Ivan looked at his son and saw that he was actually solemn about what he wanted to say.“Leave us” Ivan signaled to the guard and the maid, when they were alone; Ivan grinned at his son.“Elliot, my boy. You have grown up to be quite a fine young man and the look in your eyes is far from the innocent look that you used to have when you were little” Ivan toyed with his son’s conscience but Elliot was unwavering.“Yeah, growing up will do that to a
PRINCESS SOURFACEAll the efforts that Morgana was putting into the training made her mother to worry, Theresa was more worried about her daughter more than her own health which was steady depleting fast. Morgana went to Octavia’s house in the evenings and she stayed there until it was late at night, there were times where Theresa felt that her daughter wouldn’t come home that night but she always returned with a sweaty face and a tired smile.“Good evening, mother. I thought I told you not to stay up for me?” Morgana queried her mother when she returned to the house which was also their shop. Theresa rubbed her eyes to see her daughter in a clearer light.“You are not in any position to tell me what to do, mostly when you are in such a condition… look at your legs wobbling already, come and have a seat so that you can eat your dinner” Morgana wanted to argue with her mother some more but she felt that she needed food in her stomach to do that, she sat down with a silent word of thank
DAYS BEFORE THE BALLAs Morgana was busy training her dancing steps, in the kingdom of Briggs Benita was putting a whole lot of pressure on the people that were handling her make-up and attire. The ball was only a few days away and even though all the maidens that were selected to go had already been chosen, there were some people who thought that with their influence; they might be able to buy the heart of the king of Mytigon but it wasn’t so.“My great king, I have come with a message from my kingdom… the Persian king sends his gratitude for allowing his daughter to be a part of this wonderful event and as a token he has brought you-” the messenger was a man with haggard beard, his outfit looked Eastern and his accent told Ivan that the messenger was from one of the Arab kingdoms that were very far from Mytigon.“Gold, silver plates, scented perfumes and even more gold? This is too much if you ask me but send my regards to YOUR king anyways” Ivan was being sarcastic and the messenge
HOW TO BE A PRINCESSAll her life Morgana had never imagined that she would ever need to wear a dress so tight to the point where she would be gasping for air in short breaths, not to even think of dancing in it. The three women were so interested in Morgana’s body shape and they were sure that with the right combination of jewelry and make-up, they would be able to get Morgana into the prince’s view. None of them had ever seen the prince or even come close to his garments to know what he smelt like but they kept talking about him during the dance lessons as they taught Morgana how to dance on her tip toes before they would teach her how to dance in heels.“Can’t I just dance with the heels already? My toes are killing me” Morgana complained for the sixth time that evening, she was sweaty and breathless because of the tight corset that was holding her huge bosom together in a seductive way, it was the idea of Octavia the richest amongst them and also the one who had offered herself to
PREPARATIONS IIElliot was wishing that he was doing something battle related or maybe fighting off a wild beast instead of sitting in the palace all day to watch the way workers scurried about to prepare for the ball, he watched them from his room window that was high up in the castle. The courtyard was filled with decorations and fancy designs that would beautify the grand hall that would be used for the ball, Elliot had little or no interest in anything regarding the opposite sex and he didn’t even know what his type would look like.“All that I want is a woman that is beautiful and won’t get in my way or interrupt my daily activities, I heard that some women are everyday attention seekers and they will never leave your side even if you are working” Elliot spoke with fear to his closest friend that he had in the palace and also the head of the guards, Mark.“That is not a lie at all, my woman always whines and cries for attention…almost like a cat or should I say a baby” Mark smile
PREPARATIONSThe kingdom of Mytigon was plagued with a terrible wave of over-excitement, the ball was a big ceremony to them and the people were all aware of the benefits the ball was going to bring. There would be traders coming from far and wide to sell their wares to the travelers or the rich folks that came from distant lands just so they could attend, the commercial part of Mytigon was the busiest of all the places while inside the streets; the people worked hard to decorate their homes and fronts.“The prince is so handsome, look at the shiny gold suit that he wore during the public announcement” one of the women in charge of decorating said to her colleague who was holding the ladder for her as they hung daisies and scented flowers on the window sills of the houses.“One fleck of dust from that suit is bound to make anybody rich for life, but yet…it was only worn just for show, we might never see him again in it” the other woman lamented bitterly, they had been present at the c
PARALLEL WORLDSThe Emperor of Briggs had already heard the news about Elliot and the ceremony, when he received the letter containing the invitation, Constantine just smiled because he knew that Ivan was already making plans for the truce to be completed but what he couldn’t understand was why didn’t Ivan just come directly with his son instead of going through all of this ceremonial process. Benita heard about the news and she was excited because she had heard stories about Elliot and his conquests, she had a serious crush on him and when she heard that there was a ball coming, she began to dress and act like a princess even more than before so that her chances of being selected would be higher than others.“How many maidens are going to come out from Briggs?” she asked her father as they watched the antics of the dramatists that were acting on the stage of the theatre, Benita shared her father’s love for the theatre and she always accompanied him to see different plays right from t
THE HEADLINE PRINCEIvan Alexander was a man that always knew how to get what he wanted and if it wasn’t through making a deal then he would resort to force but there have never been a time where the king of Mytigon ever needed to use force to get what he wanted and that was mainly because he was so good at striking deals that the other person would find hard to refuse, the deal that he had made with Constantine was already sealed but he wanted his son to pick the princess of Briggs as his wife but he couldn’t influence the prince’s choice directly, all he could do was to plan the ceremony and maybe he would look for a way to get the special princess into the list of the selected.“Father, are you well? You looked troubled” Elliot said to his father who had been so lost in his thought that he had actually forgotten that he was sitting on a horse, they were having a decent father and son time before they went out into the streets of the kingdom to make an important announcement.“Yes I
SCREENING DAYThe day that was stipulated for the screening was a very busy one in the city of Borcher because it was during the middle of a trade fair in the market of Borcher, all the women and the young ladies gathered in the town square waiting for the announcement that would make all hell break loose. Morgana had gotten home and snuck in her room without alerting her mother who was fast asleep on one of the benches in the restaurant, it was obvious that she had been trying to wait for her daughter before she passed out on the bench, Morgana changed from her fancy clothes and she wore one of her usual clothes before she woke her mother up.“Mother, wake up… it is me Morgana” she shook her mother gently and the woman opened her green eyes slowly, she rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand before she recollected her senses.“Is it really you? Where have you been? I have been looking all over for you” she sounded so worried to the point that it almost broke Morgana’s heart but she
