Chapter fifty eight

“Why did you have to go get yourself shot that night?” Jonathan inquired with a pained expression. “ I was so worried about you, seeing you on the hospital bed, pale and weak. I was scared.”

“Oh come on, don’t be such a cry baby.” Rhys didn’t take any of his words seriously.

“What do you mean? When I say you are my best friend, I mean you are my brother. Imagine how it feels to grow up with the stories of someone that was meant to be your best friend and then not meeting him for a long time. And when you finally meet him, he’s so close to dying right before your eyes.”

Rhys was stumped by his words, the smile on his face fell. He had grown up without care and affection from others and he just wasn’t used to it so he couldn’t truly understand what Johnathan felt. “I’m so sorry. I didn’t think that Atlas would intentionally target me.”

“He didn’t do it.” Jonathan suddenly announced.
