Chapter 4- Buying the Game Pod

In a few minutes, I reached Golden Dragon Café and saw my friend’s car without change parked with a crowd around it. When I went to the café I saw tom waiting near the entrance. I called him by shouting “Tom, I am here. How long have you been waiting.”

“Not long actually, I cannot believe you’ve changed so much. What have you been eating these days, you’ve become so thin. You are no longer the handsome Gerald of our university.” Tom said. His words made me remember how we had to go from 3 rich meals to 2 middle-class meals to save money.

“It’s nothing much to talk about, come let’s go in” I replied while smoothly dodging his question. We both went into the VIP room booked by tom.

“So what did you need the 5 million for? You should not have so many expenses right” Tom questioned. I knew he would ask me this question after I came to the café.

“I needed it for an important investment of mine” I replied immediately. So after successfully convincing tom why I needed 5 million, we both had our drinks and food that tasted luxuriously fantastic. Then I bid farewell to tom but he insisted on him driving me home. I agreed since it would be a burden to get another taxi back home.

I was happy to see that I could increase my authority through missions but angry that I could lose 5 million if I did not win the lottery, I thought ‘I vividly remember the no that would be winning tomorrow’. I quickly wrote the no that will win tomorrow on a piece of paper and after Tom dropped me near my house, I went to the nearby lottery house and asked how much can I pay for a lottery no of my choice.

He had a look of surprise and doubt but replied “You have to pay 100 Yuan for a ticket and you can buy 10 of the same lottery ticket no.”I gave him the paper with the winning no written on it and told him to give me 10 lottery tickets for that no. He gave me the tickets with a hint of ridicule on his face. After checking that the tickets had the no written on the paper, I walked home and slept.

The next day

I woke up hearing those 2 messages and realized that I had won the lottery as expected and I thought “I also felt stronger for some reason.”

‘It seems my stats are higher  than an average non-cultivator and I got a title due to dying several times but what surprised me the most is the last part in my info which said that I was the actual heir of a group and that the group’s name was most hidden with the money symbol.’ I thought

That’s true, when I have enough authority I can get to know more about this. For now, it’s time to go and get my lottery money.

I finally reached the lottery house after managing to get a cab to go there. When I went to the lottery house and showed the 10 lottery Numbers that had the same winning no, the receptionist was shocked but took me to the boss.

When I showed him the 10 cards, he was shocked for a moment but still asked by account no. Then I received the notification of 5 million being deposited to my account and while I was going the man said to me “Sorry, 1 million of the lottery price was charged as tax.”So the lottery prize was not 5 million but 6 million. I nodded and got another cab before heading out to the lottery.

While I was going home I sent 5 million to tom’s account with my name written in it. After I reached home I decided to take a rest till the date of the release of the game.

On the date of the release of The GATE

I woke up with the sound of a notification near me, but it was not from Kronos. When I finally found the source of the notification, I was shocked to realize that today was the date of the release of the game that will shake the world and it was the notification of the reminder I put on my phone in case I forgot it like I did today.

I got ready and ran to the nearest store that would be selling the game pod today and found that the line was shorter than I had expected but it was not surprising since the game still was not famous enough for several people to line up to buy the pod. When it was finally my turn the receptionist looked at me with surprise since I looked too young to afford to be able to pay 5 million.

 The receptionist asked me “ Are you sure you are here to buy the game ‘The GATE’, you do know you have to pay 5 million upfront to buy it. I nodded and brought my phone near the code to pay the money. She then gave me the look that knew I was going to make a fool of myself but she was wrong today since the notification of 5 million transferred was heard sharply. The receptionist looked at me in shock while I told my address to the people who would be transporting it to my house.
