Chapter 5: Almighty 'Supreme general' receiving insult

"Catherine," William gently called out in a low voice with a joyous smile plastered on his face. The sweet sensation of joy at seeing his woman once again after three good years ran down his spine.

Hearing the gentle voice of her lover, Catherine couldn't help but halt in step without turning back to look at him as she closed her eyes, holding back the tears that were gathering in her eyes. Over the years that William left her, she had always yearned for him.

Since that day, she has changed and become a sadist who craves for the love of William. At night, she always cried her eyes out whenever she remembered him.

Seeing that Catherine froze there at her spot, William took a deep breath before walking towards her. "Catherine, I am back for you. Are you not happy to see me?" He said these words in a slow tone.

"I know I shouldn't have left that way, but I got no...."

Marianne coldly glared at the advancing William, her face flushed with anger. "What do you know you're doing, you bastard? Don't dare take another step, or else you're going to regret it, and don't say I didn't warn beforehand."

Bridget, with her hand on her waist, burst into sinister laughter as she pointed her tiny finger at William. "You piece of garbage, what do you take my sister as? A lowlife like you that you can leave and then come back to at anytime," she frowned. "What are you two still doing? I said I don't want your service; return straight away."

Bruce, who was standing near the door, felt humiliated as he heard the words spoken to him and his boss. He felt the desire to break off the finger that Bridget pointed at the supreme general, but he had no choice but to stay low-key and play along with his boss. He would never accept such harsh words from anyone if not for his boss.

William casually said as he curled his lip into a cold sneer facing Marianne and Bridget, "Oh, my bad, sorry for the inconvenience, but a low bitch like you shouldn't talk when others do." He directed those words to Bridget.

Hearing those words, Bridget furiously yelled as she hurriedly got close to him, "How daring! A smelly, disgusting fellow." She raised her hand to slap him across the face, thinking he was the same William of that year who could be controlled like a dog.

William easily caught hold of her hand in midair and said, "Don't think of that. I am not here for you, little bitch!" William shouted in a low voice before pushing her backward a little, making her land on her butt.

Watching the scene unfold before her eyes, Marianne's eyes widened in shock, but she regained herself shortly. "GET OUT OF MY HOUSE THIS INSTANT!" She yelled furiously.

"DON'T MAKE ME CALL THE COPS ON YOU!!" Marianne's voice resounded in the sitting room. "I can make you both experience miserable lives out there in prison. If you know what is good for you, better get out of here before I unleash my anger on you."

William chuckled to himself, took a final look at the back of Catherine before sighing bitterly, then turned around towards the door. "Let's go," he said in a low tone to Bruce, who was beside him.

Bridget, who was pushed to the ground, stood up, enraged, as she saw that the two bastards were leaving. "Mom, you're being kind here. I'll call the cops this instant to come kick their asses out of here before inflecting our place with their poverty disease."

Without wasting time, Bridget brought out her phone to truly call the cops.

Just at that moment, when she turned on her phone and unlocked it, a notification popped up on her phone.

Thinking it was a message from one of her social media accounts, she clicked on it without paying attention to the link and only to be directed to the browser on her phone.

Soon, a video started to automatically play, which got her full attention.

On her phone, the video displayed two young men dressed in the military's uniform alighting from an expensive helicopter worth millions of dollars.

Within two minutes, several influential and well-known individuals began to arrive in different cars from different locations. They began to pay respect to the two young men and even offered different assets and gifts just to garner their attention, but despite this, one of the two, who seemed to be the leader, signalled to the other to make the men retreat from the premises without caring for the benefits or whatever they were offering him.

The video ended there, as the people who were videoing were also chased away. Just a short video clip of 30 seconds.

The faces of the two young respected men couldn't be seen as their faces were half covered with military hats, and even still, there were people backing the people trying to camera them as they avoided the people having a clear shot of their faces.

After finishing watching the video, Bridget forgot about the reason that she turned on her phone and began to laugh loudly. "Such young respected men, but right in front of me, is standing a smelly bastard that knows only to sweet-talk my sister into taking money from her."

William and Bruce, who were already close to the door, stopped where they heard the statement made by Bridget. They turned to face her, twitching their eyebrows in confusion.

Amidst her crazy laughter, the same video started to play on the big television stationed on the wall.

Marianne, Bridget, and Joey paid attention to the video playing on the television. Even Catherine turned her head to take a look at the video.

"You see, that's the perfect description of authority and power. Not having a dumb, useless son-in-law that depends on a woman," Marianne immediately spoke out when the video ended, rolling her eyes at William like someone who was going to eat him up.

Joey McAllister nodded his head arrogantly. "I see, those two are honourable men, so how can you compare them with these two trash en?" He faced Catherine. "If you want, through my family connection, we can arrange a meeting with them and go have a brief conversation with those two for some minutes," he said with a proud smile on his face as he was overconfident in himself while at the same time shaking his hand for people there to take notice of the golden watch he was putting on.

Marianne wore a smile on her face when she heard Joey say, 'It will be so wonderful to meet those two young men who pull up a crowd of big men to themselves and even reject their offers. Having a connection with those two young men will boost my family's business. What about having one of them as a son-in-law? It will be so wonderful to get Bridget to befriend one of those two, especially the leader.' Marianne was occupied with her thoughts while at the same time looking at Bridget with a hopeful glance.

William and Bruce look at each other without saying anything, but there is a bit of surprise in their eyes.

If the people there knew that the two young, respected men that they just watched on TV were the same two standing before them, they would be greatly shocked.

"Catherine," William called out again, looking at her without even minding the words of the arrogant Joey.

This time, Catherine didn't stay quiet. "Go away; go continue with your life," she said as she continued to climb upstair before leaving the view of everyone.

William stood there dumfounded, blankly, towards the staircase where Catherine had retreated.

Everywhere became silent, and suddenly Joey's arrogance soared, empowered by the perceived authority of his family's wealth and connections. He glared at William with a disdainful look. "Motherfucker, take your eyes off her before I pluck out your eyes...."

He took a step forward, pointing at William. "Listen here, you lowlife!" Joey taunted, stepping closer to William with an air of arrogance and superiority. "You should know your place; Catherine doesn't need a guy like you. Stay away if you know what's good for you. My family can make things very difficult for you if you insist on meddling in her life."

Bruce's jaw tightened, but he remained composed, exchanging a quick glance with William, silently communicating a sense of caution.

"........" William was about to say something but was interrupted by Bridget's voice.

Bridget snickered, taking the chance to add her own insult. "And to think he still had the audacity to come back here—you're a disgrace, trying to crawl back after abandoning her for years."

William remained composed, his jaw clenched in frustration. "Don't poke your nose into someone else's business, Joey, as you have no idea what you're talking about," he replied, his voice laced with a restrained warning. "Catherine's decisions are hers alone."

Hearing the lowlife talking back at him, Joey became furious. "Dare and see how it goes if my connections will not crush you if you try to interfere in Catherine's life again," he threatened.

William remained composed as he ignored the threats; his gaze flickered towards Catherine's room direction, a mix of hurt and pain revealed in his eyes.

William turned back to go away, but was instructed by the sudden voice of Bridget.

"Hey wait," She cartwalked towards him before taking a note from the back of her phone. "Lowlife, before you die of hunger, here is a $50 note; we all know that you can't afford it."

Bridget squeezed the note and then threw it at his face. "I don't want you to die of hunger before it will be all over the news that the ex of my sister died of hunger." She mocked her with a playful, pathetic expression on her face.

Marianne and Joey burst into laughter as they enjoyed the scene happening.

William briefly looked at Bridget before shaking his head in pity. "Let's go," he said to Bruce, and he turned away without a word at Bridget, walking out alongside Bruce as they exited the sitting room.
