Chapter 28 Step down

Looking at his boss's chilly expression, Bright felt pity for the man and the mastermind.

After the protesters demonstrated for almost five hours, they grew tired and decided to go home. Today was just an introduction; the real show will begin tomorrow.

"Yes, sir. Don't worry; the job will be done perfectly," Garry, the leader of the protesters, assured on a call with a strange number. Upon reaching his apartment, unlocking the door, and entering, Garry sensed someone in his room as the lights suddenly went out. Trying to use his flashlight, he realized the battery was dead, unnoticed during his conversation. A sense of foreboding overcame him, and in a panicked voice, he exclaimed, "Who is there?" Feeling an intense stare, he heard slow footsteps. "Do..n't come n..ear me!" he pleaded, holding up one hand.

The footsteps continued, seemingly unaffected by his plea, until he struck Garry with the heel of his palm.
