Chapter 7 I regret it

"I am sorry sir. I truly regret my actions." The clerk still held Jerome's legs hoping he would forgive her. She has learned her lessons the hard way.

Jerome gazed at the woman who was sitting on the floor. He realized that for the well-being of her newborn baby and ailing mother, he had to let go of his anger and forgive her. He believed that everyone deserved a second chance. "I am willing to give you another opportunity, but you will have to face the consequences of your actions. Your salary will be deducted for the next three months. After that, I will assess your progress and decide whether or not to continue with your employment."

" Thank you, sir, thank you very much. Thank you. " Those were the only words the clerk could utter. Only God knows how she regretted her action. She swore to herself never to judge a book by its cover. She swore to herself to always treat customers with a pure and kind heart.

"Since he has forgiven you, I have no objections. I hope this won't repeat itself. The manager helped her up.

"Am I dreaming, or?" Mia who had been watching the show was still processing what happened. How come Jerome had a say in this issue?

"Oh, I heard the chairman has a granddaughter, very good, very very good Jerome. After you refused my offer, you shamelessly went for a sugar mummy. Aren't you ashamed of yourself? What capabilities do you have as a man? " Mia, who was fuming in anger, spat. Even though she had divorced him, she wasn't feeling comfortable at the thought of him getting another woman.

"You just said I have hooked up with a rich lady, that is also a capability. Or don't you agree with me?" He chuckled with his hands in his pocket.

"Shameless man. You are shameless. You will regret it. She will dump you when she finds out how useless you are. It wouldn't be long before you come begging." Mia said with gritted teeth.

"That isn't for you to decide. Manager, I don't want this woman to step foot in any of the Cadell shops again. You know what to do right?" He said seriously to the manager whilst pointing at Mia.

"Haha, the fact that you had the power to decide for the clerk doesn't mean you can decide for me. You should know your place." Mia scoffed. Who does he think he is?

The manager dialed a number and instructed, "Make sure Mia Cambridge never steps foot in all Cadell shops ever again. Pass the information to all shops. This is an order from above."

" What?" Mia's mouth was wide open. She couldn't believe she would be banned just because Jerome said so. Someone she has fed before. Isn't this ridiculous? "You banned me because of such useless trash?"She roared.

" Yes I am a useless trash, but I have been able to drive you out of here. What are you going to do?" Jerome said in a mocking tone. Aww, he never knew a day would come when he would get the power to bully his ex-wife. This feels so good. "Security dragged her far, far from the shop. I don't even want to see her shadow near the Cadell's shop."

" Ok, sir." The security bowed respectfully and held Mia's hands.

" You will pay for it, Jerome. I will make sure the chairman's daughter breaks up with you. Let's see how you will continue to be arrogant after that."

" Why are you being so gentle on her? Throw her outside. Don't worry I will settle her medical bills if anything happens to her."

The security personnel threw Mia on the ground. Mia was very angry and hadn't yet learned from her mistake. She couldn't believe Jerome would treat her this way. Fine, I will make sure you regret it." She cursed him but he was far gone. He didn't bother paying for the shirt and ordered them to send it to his parent's mansion.

He went to the mansion and prepared to meet the family. His grandfather told him he would visit the rest of the family today. He put on the best clothes and put on an expensive wristwatch. His black trouser fitted him like it was made for him. His hair was neatly combed and he didn't look like the messy Jerome who didn't have time for himself.

"It's good to be rich." He smiled to himself after seeing how handsome he looked in the mirror. I need to change my facial expressions. I have started reading novels about big CEOs and I have watched more of their movies. I will start behaving like them henceforth. I will walk and talk like them." He said to himself before going to sit in his car. He wanted to buy his car by himself but he stopped after what he experienced at the shop. He called his grandfather who sent someone to deliver the car.

He scrutinized the car and smiled in satisfaction. He sat and drove the car to the Cadell's old mansion.

"Aww my grandson, I never knew you would be found. Aww what God can not do, does not exist. You are just like your father. Come and let grandma take a good look at you." The old lady stood at the entrance and waited for his grandson. She hugged him and said with her teary eyes. She never thought her grandchild would be found one day. She has always discouraged her husband from letting it go and has always tried to dissuade him from searching for him. Who knew they would get results after many years? She flew to America the moment she heard her grandson had been found.

"Jerome, this is your grandma." The old master introduced her to him..

"Grandma," he called out sweetly to her.

"Aww, my grandson. Grandma is very sorry for not taking care of you, if not this wouldn't have happened." The old lady touched Jerome's body part. Nobody knows what she was searching for but he didn't object to her.

"Grandma, what do you mean by that?" Jerome felt there was more to her words.

"Your mother called me to come for you because she would be traveling and might come back in a year or more. I thought a year was very long so I advised her to take you along with her. She explained to me it was dangerous to take you along but I failed to understand her and still insisted she take you along. Who knew she would never return and you would also be missing." Tears rolled down her cheeks as she narrated to him. This had always been her biggest regret. Thank God her grandson is still alive, at least she would feel less guilty.

"So grandma, you didn't find me after you heard my mother was involved in an accident?"

"Yes, we searched for you all over the country but never heard nor found you anywhere."

" I see, this is strange." What happened? How did I get missing and who was behind it?"
