CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Deborah approached Vera, knowing she would find it difficult to believe her. She pointed to a mark on her forehead, saying, "I know you may not trust me, but look here," as she lowered her head. "This mark is from when you hit me with a stone on my forehead."

Vera shook her head in disbelief. "That can't be true."

"It is, Vera." The name sent chills down her spine.

Overwhelmed with emotion, Vera embraced Deborah, and they held each other for what felt like an eternity.

Sitting down, Deborah shared that she was now working as a manager at Miles’ Empire, a company owned by Mr. Miles is now managed by his son.

Curious about Vera's work, she learned that Vera had been fired from her job at Vintage Mall that day.

Vera then recounted their struggles and how difficult it had been to cope. Deborah couldn't help but cry, missing her mother deeply.

Offering her support, Deborah mentioned a job opening for a receptionist at her company and assured Vera that she could help her secure the position
