CHAPTER FOUR

Franklin pushed the door open and was surprised to find Mr. Russell, the acting CEO, waiting for him in the office. He had been expecting Franklin's arrival.

Walking inside, Franklin closed the door behind him and looked around with satisfaction. The office was furnished just the way he liked it – simple yet elegant.

Mr. Russell noticed the pleased expression on Franklin's face and smiled, saying, “This is the document, please sign in your signature."

Nodding in agreement, Franklin accepted the documents handed to him by Mr. Russell. Sitting down, he carefully read through each line before confidently signing them with a smirk.

"Congratulations, young master. You're now the CEO of Miles Empire," Mr. Russell congratulated him.

"Thank you," Franklin replied gratefully.

Reflecting on his previous attempts to convince Franklin to take over the company, Mr. Russell felt relieved that Franklin had finally agreed.

He immediately sent an email to the management team, introducing Franklin as the new CEO and attaching a photo of him for reference.

"Is there anything else I need to do?" Franklin asked as he handed the documents back to Mr. Russell.

"No, why?" Mr. Russell responded.

"I need to get some new clothes. Wearing a delivery uniform isn't really ideal on occasions like this. I need to change," Franklin explained. Then, realizing he doesn't have a bank card, he added, “Let me have my debit card."

Mr. Russell retrieved a VVIP bank card from the drawer and handed it to him, saying, “We got a customized card for you at your father's request.”

"Thanks," Franklin said, rising from his seat. He was ready to leave. This week could be considered a free week for him since he would resume his duties as the CEO after his convocation.

Mr. Russell pressed a button on the desk. Within moments, several security agents in black suits and black glasses entered the CEO's office.

Bowing respectfully, they approached Franklin. "We are at your service, young master," they said in unison.

Franklin was taken aback by their display of respect. He hadn't expected such a formal reception. Nevertheless, he nodded in acknowledgment, feeling a sense of authority wash over him.

"Thank you," he replied.

"We're here to keep you safe, young master," Conor, head of the security agents assured him.

Mr. Russell addressed the agents, "Please accompany our new CEO, and ensure his safety at all times."

The security agents nodded. "Yes, Mr. Russell," they replied in unison.

With that, Franklin led the way out of the office, followed closely by the security team who maintained a protective perimeter around him as they exited.

The security team accompanied Franklin to the elevator. They walked beside him, showing respect for the new CEO.

As they reached the elevator, Franklin pressed the button to call it. The doors opened, and he stepped inside, while his personal security entered a different elevator.

With the security agents by his side, Franklin felt empowered. As the new CEO of Miles Empire. There were a few things that needed changing, and he was going to fix them. It was his way now, not his father's.

***

While Franklin was in the office, the junior staff and the guards were still waiting for his return when the General Manager, Ms. Deborah, approached them with concern and confusion. She couldn't understand why they were gathered there instead of being at their workstations.

"What's going on here?" Ms. Deborah addressed the workers.

"Good day, Ms. Deborah," Reina greeted nervously. "We were working when a guy in a delivery uniform walked past us. He said he wasn't here to deliver food, and when we tried to stop him, he was stubborn. I called the guards to arrest him, but he ran into the elevator. We're waiting for him to come out," she explained, pointing at the elevator.

The other workers chimed in. "We're not even sure if he really is a delivery guy. Maybe he just pretended to be one," said Daniel.

"Maybe he's a thief, coming to steal from our company,” Alex suggested.

"Or most likely he's a crazy person who escaped from the mental hospital," added Nancy.

"And you all let him leave? Did you know that the new CEO is arriving today? What will he say when he finds out? That a random guy broke in and none of you could stop him? It'll be his first day, and this is what you'll present? How incompetent!" Ms. Deborah scolded furiously.

"We're sorry, Ms. Deborah," they apologized.

"Save it until you get him arrested." She bashed and walked away from the scene.

Just then, the elevator beeped and moved. "He must be in that elevator," Sarah remarked.

They watched as the elevator stopped, and Franklin bounced out with the security experts following behind him.

Reina sniggered and went forward to slap Franklin, thinking he had been arrested by the security team.

"How dare you? This isn't a place where you can just enter and wander around. This isn't your regular delivery spot.”

Franklin was already losing his patience. He wanted to slap her back, but he restrained himself and signaled his personal security to calm down.

"You must be a psycho. No sane person would act like you. Who do you think you are?" Nancy berated angrily.

‘Where did they get such disrespectful people from? They are not even from a first-class family, nor do they hold any title in the company, ordinary junior staff!’ he thought, mentally facepalming himself.

"You really want to know who I am? I am the new CEO of this company!" Franklin asserted with authority. The receptionist's actions puzzled him.

"If you are the CEO of this company man, then I am the President of this country," Daniel mocked, causing everyone present to laugh.

That was more than embarrassing. They had gone too far. They had no right to bully anyone, and it was against the company's rules.

Just as Reina was about to take further action, she heard a voice that made her freeze. “How dare you touch the new CEO!"

Everyone turned around in surprise!
