Ashley had been Franklin’s go-to lawyer for the past few months and she came to oversee their new home.

“I thought you’d already be unpacking by now,” she remarked, setting her leather briefcase on the table and glancing around the sparsely decorated room.

Daisy, curled up on the couch, smiled faintly. “We’ve been… busy. It’s been a lot to process.”

Ashley arched an eyebrow. “I can imagine. First, acquiring a new company, and now moving into this place—it’s a lot of change in a short time. But at least you’ve managed to get everything squared away legally.”

Franklin joined them, a small grin tugging at his lips. “Thanks to you, Ashley. If it weren’t for your work on the acquisition, we’d still be stuck dealing with endless paperwork.”

Ashley allowed a rare smile to creep across her face. “It’s what you pay me for. Besides, I wasn’t going to let you sign anything without knowing every detail. That’s why I came in person—to make sure you didn’t miss any hidden clauses.”
