The next day, Franklin was in his office. Across from him were, Mr. Hugh and Conor sitting attentively, waiting for him to speak.

“I’ve been thinking about this for a while,” Franklin began, his tone steady but resolute. “The attack on the hotel and the attention Daisy’s been getting—it’s clear we’re not as secure as I’d like to think.”

Conor leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees. “You think someone’s targeting you specifically?”

Franklin nodded. “It’s a strong possibility. I can’t afford to take any chances, especially with Daisy and the baby involved. I need to get her somewhere safe—a home where she doesn’t have to look over her shoulder.”
