Kyle stood there, unable to move his legs, his hands trembling as he stared at the child before him; her brown eyes sparkled with curiosity while she stared at the strange man who had more bruises on his body than she had ever seen.

She was older than four years old, and it could only mean one thing to him: Anna didn't wait even for a day for him to leave like she was praying for him to leave to continue her life.

His heart sank at this thought yet he remained indifferent.

“This…. This is your child?” His heart rippled in pain as he fired the question even though the evidence was clearly before him.

“Yes Kyle, I just told you that you don't expect the world to stop moving just because you went to jail, I moved on and I think that it is time that you do the same”

Her voice was cold and nonchalant, devoid of any form of emotions

“If you don't mind me asking, how old is she?” his voice was above a whisper as he asked.

He was so scared of the answer he was about to get, even though it was evidently staring at him in the gut.

“Sasha is five!” She expressed, not a hint of remorse in her eyes, a nonchalant expression swept through her face as she responded, causing Kyle's heart to sink in pain.

Kyle felt like he was drowning in a sea of betrayal; this was a woman he had sacrificed everything for, and he was ready to do more once the need arrived.

“Were you cheating on me with him, even before I left? Is that why your parents begged me to go to jail in your place with the promise of finding a way to let me out?”

Realization slowly stroked him; all of it was planned from the beginning, and he was just a pawn in their game, which he had failed to see until now.

“That is enough, Kyle; we can't keep talking about this. Come with me!” She ordered and although he had no idea what this was going to be about, he followed Anna and Jake upstairs.

They both stopped in her room; Mr. Paul was already there holding a file; they all had their gaze on him, curiosity laced through his face while he struggled to figure out what was going on until the file was thrown at his face, face stashed with disgust as they did.

“Sign this And we will help you with a huge amount of money as compensation for your help and for you to keep your mouth shut!”

Mr. Paul suggested. First, Kyle was silent; he went ahead to go through the file. He slowly scrutinized every page of the document, and once he was done reading, a disgusting smirk spread through his lips.

“What the hell is this, Anna?” she inquired, his eyes red, a hint of rage in them, yet he was trying so hard to remain calm, knowing how hard her betrayal had sliced through him.

“I believe that you still know how to read, it's a divorce document, Kyle, I have kept it for five years, waiting for you, I think that I have done my path, it is your turn”

“Your part?” He stared at it in disbelief; everything felt like a dream to him, and it was difficult for him to believe that it was indeed happening.

“How could you Anna! I did everything for you; you were my priority, and I was ready to make you happy at all costs. It was the death of my family that we were talking about, yet I was ready to take the blame for you!”

Kyle paused, fighting back the tears as he maintained a cold expression, his voice was starting to crack, yet it did not stop him from speaking.

“Everything! Everything that I did was for your sake, and this is how you pay me back, you really broke my heart and you stand before me to say that you have done your part, your part of cheating with another man, sending me to jail so you could have your way with him”

“Then what kind of repayment do you want? Go ahead and name your price, and I will write you the cheque right now!”

She suggested with a cold expression, yet he had seen a flicker of sympathy in her eyes, which meant nothing to him.

Kyle let out a subtle chuckle, all of this felt like a dream to him that it was so hard for him to believe.

“I don't care what you chose to think, but I waited for you, I waited for an entire month, but it did not look like you were going to come back, Jake was there for me, he was there for me through all thick and thin, but you Kyle, you weren't!”

“Yes and that is because I was in jail, for your sake, fighting to keep you out of that dreadful place, take a look at me And all the scars around my body, that is what that place does to a person, I took all this pain all for your sake, hoping that one day I will come back home to my wife and this is what I get, your father promised me a lawyer, none ever showed up”

This time, he turned his attention to Mr. Paul, hoping to hear some explanations for their decision, but Mr. Paul caressed the bridge of his nose, not ready to say a word.

“We know fully well what you did for us and we are grateful, which is why we are going to compensate you for all the pains you went through, just sign the document, promise to keep your mouth shut and I promise you that my Dad is going to help you start a life back at Harper town”

She assured, but he scoffed sarcastically, looking down at her with disgust; he could not believe that this was the woman he loved so much and held her in hug regards.

“You mean to say like the same promise your dad made about getting me a lawyer and pulling some strings in the army to get me out, yeah, I think that we have been there and we have done that”

He scrunched up as he turned around and was ready to walk out of there, but Anna quickly rushed over to him, grabbing his hand with desperation lingering in her eyes.

“Please Kyle, I need you to sign the divorce documents, please…. My life with Jake is at a hinge here”

“It's so funny about the fact that you always need a favor from me and yet you stared at me when I first walked into this house like you didn't need anything. The only thing that I ever asked for was your love and yet I couldn't get it”

“I know, but it's not my fault, you barely kept a job even when you were here, you had to live and depend on my family for survival, let me be realistic here, but you have always been worthless and pulling me backward”

“What ….” He heard so many things from her, but that seemed to have struck a nerve; he stared at her, not able to believe that she was saying that right to his face.

“You know what, hand me the document!” They hurriedly handed it to him; Kyle glanced at the divorce documents one last time before scribbling his signature and tossing it back at them.

But just as he was about to walk out on them, Mr. Paul called out to him again. “Kyle”

He pulled out some cash from his pocket. Kyle did not hesitate to accept the money, but staring right at it with disgust, he tore the entire cash, throwing it at their face and walking out of there.

Everyone froze right there; they could not believe that a man who had just gotten out of jail and had nowhere to start would have this much pride to destroy such a huge amount of money handed to him.

Outside the huge mansion of the Gold family, Kyle pulled out the cell phone that had been lying in his pocket as he placed a call.

“Come pick me up!” He spoke coldly and within a few minutes, a convoy of Roy Royce arrived there.
