1. The Divorce

"Sign this divorce paper." Suddenly, a divorce paper was thrown on the table. Right in front of Zayden's face.

Zayden was shocked. His movements stopped instantly. The direction of his gaze was fixed on the divorce paper lying on the table. Then he slowly turned his gaze towards Zevanna.

"What do you mean?" asked Zayden, looking at Zevanna uncomprehendingly.

"Are my words not clear enough? I want a divorce from you now," Zevanna stated without showing any hesitation.

Despite her assertion, Zayden still felt that his sense of hearing was impaired. Zayden was stunned for a split second, asking Zevanna to confirm whether or not she meant what she said.

"Don't joke around, Zevanna. What kind of request is this?" Zayden of course could not immediately accept Zevanna's request.

Zevanna laughed sarcastically and looked away. Meanwhile, Zayden stood up from his sitting position with a confused look at the divorce papers.

Zayden had been busy working as a part-time supermarket cashier and restaurant delivery boy. Zayden had no idea that Zevanna was secretly taking care of the divorce papers for their divorce.

"Since when did you file the divorce papers, Zevanna?" Zayden asked once again.

"One week ago. I've wanted a divorce from you for a long time, Zayden. Don't you remember how many times I told you I couldn't stay married to you any longer?"

Zayden was at a loss for words. He was tongue-tied. When Zevanna's question was heard, Zayden remembered that one year ago Zevanna had asked for a divorce. But Zayden had never agreed to the divorce.

Zayden's love for Zevanna was very strong. Their marriage had lasted four years - and it was supposed to be their fifth wedding anniversary two weeks later.

Zayden had loved Zevanna since they met at the supermarket. One day Zevanna came to Zayden to offer marriage because of an urgent matter. Of course Zayden agreed to it.

Zayden knew that Zevanna loved luxury goods. Her family owned a big company. Meanwhile, Zevanna met Zayden as a supermarket cashier. Even so, Zayden had been working very hard to raise money to give small gifts to Zevanna.

Throughout the four years of marriage, Zayden knew he never got Zevanna's full love. The two of them never even had intercourse. Zayden slept in a different room from Zevanna's.

"I know, but I refused your request repeatedly. Now you're urging me to sign the divorce papers that you secretly took care of?" Zayden sounded annoyed.

Zevanna didn't feel guilty at all. In front of Zayden, Zevanna had a flat expression as she folded her arms across her chest.

"I'm sick of living with you, Zayden. You're a poor man, while I'm the CEO of a fast-growing agency! I'd be embarrassed in front of everyone if I had a useless partner like you!"

Zevanna's words left Zayden speechless. Unexpectedly hearing that statement firsthand, Zayden did not move.

"All my business partners introduce their husbands who are CEOs, businessmen, owners of real estate companies, and me?" Zevanna said again, insinuating Zayden.

Zayden's eyes then moved to the newspaper on the table. The newspaper showed news of an agency company that had a new CEO.

Zevanna's name and photo from the press conference were prominently displayed. There was the name of the agency: Reedy JYP Star Entertainment.

The news told us that Zevanna would be replacing the previous CEO as well as the owner of the company. This was the company that Zevanna had been fighting for.

Zayden knew that Zevanna really wanted to move Reedy JYP Star Entertainment forward. During this time, Zevanna deliberately did not become the main CEO, because she wanted to oversee behind the scenes. But everything went awry when the CEOs of the previous two eras corrupted the company.

Zevanna had experienced a collapse in the company until it almost went bankrupt.

And one little thing Zevanna didn't know, Zayden silently backed up the funds when the agency was almost bankrupt.

"Now, you no longer want to supervise behind the scenes?" Zayden smiled wryly. "Ah, I did hear that your agency earned two hundred million dollars this month."

Zevanna gave Zayden a smug look.

"That's right. You should realize that you are not fit and proper for me," Zevanna retorted.

"You want a divorce?" Zayden asked.

Zevanna nodded her head.

Because Zayden remembered all of Zevanna's disrespectful treatment of him, Zayden couldn't argue.

"Alright."

After that, Zayden took the pen that Zevanna handed over. Feeling confident, Zayden signed the divorce papers on the table.

"You left me when your agency started to grow rapidly. Now, I won't argue with you anymore," Zayden said as he signed the papers.

Zevanna remained silent.

As Zayden finished signing, he suddenly felt the vibration of a message notification. He quickly grabbed his cell phone, which was placed in the pocket of his shabby shirt.

A message from an unknown number.

Zayden frowned as the message sent him a video. He opened the message and was surprised to see a dimly lit setting. It looked like he was in a nightclub.

When the video was opened, Zayden watched the camera focus on the two people on the sofa. Although it was dimly lit, the video still showed that the woman and man on the sofa were kissing passionately.

Zayden frowned deeply. His hunch was suddenly uncomfortable.

The more he watched, the more he could see that the two people kissing were Zevanna and another man. After the kiss was over, Zevanna embraced the man beside her while stroking his broad chest.

Zayden recognized the man as Andreas Tomlinson, a well-known owner of a real estate company. He was also the boss of a major agency.

Below the video, Zayden read a message from someone.

[My Lord Zayden, this is Zevanna's umpteenth night with the same man]

Zayden grinned sarcastically after reading the message. Actually, the report of Zevanna's affair with Andreas had been sent to him one month ago.

"My efforts to preserve our marriage are in vain," Zayden said as he put the phone back into his shabby shirt pocket.

Zevanna was cold to Zayden.

"You better get out of my mansion, now!" Zevanna said firmly.

Zayden nodded his head. "Of course, I'll leave your mansion," he replied confidently.

Without thinking, Zayden grabbed his torn briefcase and left Zevanna's presence. Zayden got ready to grab a suitcase to pack his clothes and some personal items.

When he arrived near the door of the mansion, Zayden's steps immediately stopped when he met Petra and Rebecca. Petra looked at Zayden sharply and hatefully, while Rebecca looked at him sarcastically.

"You want to get out of this mansion?" asked Rebecca when she noticed the suitcase in Zayden's hand.

Zayden was silent for a moment. "That's right. Will you guys be happy that I'm leaving the mansion?"

"Of course. You're finally willing to divorce Zevanna," Rebecca replied with a sigh of relief. "I'm so sorry that my only daughter has to feel ashamed. Marrying a useless, poor, lowly, and despicable man like you will not make her happy."

Zayden felt no offense at Rebecca's words. His heart was already hard. It wasn't the first time Rebecca had given such insulting words.

"You should have left the mansion a long time ago. Why did you stay?" interrupted Petra, Zevanna's father.

Zayden just took a deep breath, then let it out.

"I don't know why you guys hate me so much. You've never respected me all this time," Zayden retorted, looking at Rebecca and Petra with sharp eyes.

Petra laughed sarcastically, deliberately showing contempt for Zayden.

"Since you're completely worthless, we don't need to appreciate you. After all, what would you be without us?" said Petra.

Rebecca nodded in agreement. "That's right. After this, you'll definitely be homeless."

At that moment Zayden didn't want to pay too much attention to Rebecca and Petra's words. In the end, Zayden just shook his head in disgust, then returned to gripping the handle of the suitcase tighter.

Zayden left the mansion with emotions welling up in his chest. Zayden simply did not want to listen to the condescending laughter from Rebecca and Petra.

Just as Zayden was about to take his cell phone out of his shirt pocket, his eyes caught sight of a swarm of footsteps coming towards him.

Zayden stopped walking once more, then slowly raised his face and saw four men in police uniforms. Zayden was stunned when one of the men pulled out a pair of handcuffs.

"Zayden Alexander Lee, you are under arrest for fraud in the amount of USD 100,000,000."
