Nathan arrived home that night, tired and slightly angry. How dare Thomas open his mouth and spew such nonsense?

Doris was already waiting for him. "What's the matter?" The woman jumped up and rushed forward to meet her husband the instant he stepped in. "Are you okay?"

Nathan managed a smile, kissed his wife on her forehead and then made his way over to the couch. She followed too, taking his bags off his shoulders. "Nathan?"

He knew he would have to tell her. He'd hidden enough from her already. "It's your father." He said at last, and Doris listened quietly. "He asked that the dare changed. That you shouldn't become the family's CEO again,"

Her brows ceased. "But it won't be me again, it'll be our unborn child." She said,

"He doesn't want that either." Nathan explained. "He wants to be the family's CEO, you see."

Doris wasn't surprised. Her father was partially a greedy man, but it was always for a cause. "Perhaps he has his reason?"
