Meanwhile, back in Jerry’s house, Cecilia sat with her nose in the air, a snide look on her face, her lips curled in hate and disgust as she glared at her ex-husband and simultaneously glanced around the room.

She would forever be grateful that she left and divorced the pauper of an ex-husband who seemed to lack foresight and had the effrontery to insult her in the presence of the useless Adam.

Louisa sat gingerly on the threadbare couch, subtly perusing the room and berating herself for coming. Seeing Adam here had ruffled her feathers, catching her off guard.

She couldn't get over his last threat to her, what did he mean by his statement,

“Wherever it is that you have my daughter hidden, I will unearth it, and when I'm done, I'll be coming for you” she involuntarily shuddered at the thought, if Williams had been around, he would have known what to say and how to reply to him.
