Adam looked up at Mira with a mixture of gratitude and pride, a genuine smile breaking on his face,

“I appreciate your gesture, but I insist on paying for my meal. I'm confident my card has the funds. Could you please try running it again?"

His request seemed to reignite Cecil's fury, and all the other patron’s anger,

“Such insolence!”

“What arrogance!!!”

“He finally has a way out, yet he chooses to be proud and arrogant! What a fellow!”

Cecil finally found her voice again, sharper and more biting than before,

"Don't bother with his charades"

Cecil spat out, her teeth and first clenched tightly,

"He's just a pretender, trying to claim what he's not. If you're seriously considering his plea, then you might as well say goodbye to us. You know very well the kind of business we bring." She called at the waiter, not knowing she was addressing one of the owners of the establishment.
