“Hi officer.” Cecil greeted with a smile as the officer lowered his window to get a better view of them,

“Ma’am, where are you headed and where are you from?”

The police asked as he averted his gaze from Cecil to Logan,

“We are travellers from Brazil, and we are headed to the southeastern province.” She said and cleared her throat while trying to maintain a smile,

“We got displaced from our family and now we are stranded here.” She said to the officer, observing his facial expression to see if he had bought her story.

“So, how about I take you to the nearest police station? So a search can be launched on your family to enable them to find you easily?”

The officer asked and Cecil's face became pale immediately,

“No...no...no, officer.” She retorted immediately,

“That would not be necessary Sir.” She said immediately trying to feign a smile to convince the officer that everything was fine.

“Uhmm, we just need a phone to put a call through to them.” She said and Logan seconded immediat
