CHAPTER THREE

Adam couldn't help but wonder what was going on, and left him confused and worried, realising he wasn't going to get any other information from the landlord, he headed back out to meet the taxi driver.

He met the taxi guy, tapping his steering wheels in anticipation of his return. Without hesitation, Adam opened the back door and slid in, realising he needed to make another call, he silently asked the driver for his phone once again, "Hey Mister, please I'd like to use your phone again" The driver stared on confusingly, and he could feel him getting agitated on hearing the request, the driver turned to look back at him, his eyes filled with irritation.

"Are you trying to play me or something Sir!? If you don't have any money to pay me better let me know! Scrap that! Pay me my money! I've driven you around town, you've wasted my day for nothing. I could have more trips with the time I've taken you round and now you want my phone!?" the driver angrily retorted.

Adam tried to hide his shame and was thankful they were both still in the car, he wouldn't want the driver to create a scene and cause his landlord and neighbours to come out, thereby embarrassing him further and making jest of him.

In all honesty, he didn't have any money on him, or to his name yet as his account had been barred when he became imprisoned, all that was going to change soon but the driver didn't have to know that. Adam silently exhaled and squeezed his eyes shut, as he figured a way to reply to him without getting a rise off the driver.

"I'm sorry to waste your time like this, I didn't expect things to turn out this way. One thing I can assure you is that you'll be heavily compensated. I'll see to that" he reasoned with the driver pleadingly.

The driver scoffed as he muttered underneath his breath a few strings of words that Adam was unable to catch. Reluctantly, he stretched his phone back to Adam

"You had better have my money, including the phone charges you've used"

"Sure, you'll get it." Adam nodded his head as he assured him, taking the phone from his outstretched hand. He dialled Raul's number once more, On the second ring, Raul picked it up

"Young Master?"

"Yes Raul, it's me again. I need you to help me find the exact address of Louisa Martin, I believe she's somewhere in Hillsbury City, when you've done that please make sure to send the address to this phone"

"Louisa Mart… isn't that your… "

"That will be all Raul, thank you" Without awaiting his response or waiting for Raul to reply, Adam cut off the phone.

In less than two minutes, the phone and the chimed with an incoming message, he glanced at it and realised that Raul had sent in his request.

Raul had even added extra details like Louisa's current phone number and social security number, but Adam refrained from calling her until he saw her in person.

Done with the phone, Adam cleared his throat to get the attention of the driver and handed the phone back to him

"Thank you, Sir. Please take me to Hillsbury City in County, that should be our last spot for the day." Adam nodded at the driver as he gave him the address, in return the driver grumbled out saying

"It had better be"

The driver turned left shortly after and exited the driveway.

After about an hour of driving, the driver pulled up to an obvious highbrow community, highrise buildings and penthouses flanking the streets on both sides. The estate was designed in a way that the houses were similar to themselves.

Adam found himself wondering if the driver had missed a turn, they were obviously in the wrong area, this place couldn't possibly lead to where Louisa was.

If she truly lived here, he wondered how Louisa could possibly afford such an area, her family weren't financially okay to afford such a luxurious area.

"Are you sure we're at the right address?" Adam uttered the words before he realised he had voiced his thoughts.

Sneering at him through the rearview mirror, the driver nodded his head

"I've been driving these routes for over ten years, and yes this is Hillsbury. What's the exact address?" Adam called out the address Raul had sent to him and a few minutes later, the driver pulled up on a street with a beautiful lawn and a massive mansion. Adam found himself admiring the exterior of the house, wondering who they knew that could afford such luxury.

Of their own accord, his legs lifted out of the vehicle and headed to the gate of the mansion. As Adam pulled up to the front of the building, the security guard suddenly appeared in his front, sneering disgustingly at him

"I'm sorry Sir, but this building doesn't accept such low-life crass like the likes of you, I'm certain you must have missed your way. I suggest you head back out to where you're coming from and find the right address, because it's certainly not this one" the security uttered as he eyed Adam from top to bottom.

Adam felt quite displeased at the security's utterance but couldn't say anything as he knew the fellow was just doing his job.

"I'm sorry to intrude or come in unannounced but I'm looking for my wife, Louisa Martins. I believe I have the right address. This is the address of the place I received"

While Adam spoke, he didn't fail to notice the look of disbelief and mockery that was evident on the security man's face. The laughter of the latter suddenly filled the air, as he laughed scornfully while pointing at Adam and at the same time holding his belly as he was bent over in laughter.

In an instant, he was back upright as he glared at Adam

"I'm certain that the Louisa that you seek isn't here nor lives here. The only Louisa who lives here happens to be the lady of this mansion and is married to my boss, a very powerful man, and she wouldn't be associated with and by the likes of you. So I'm certain you have the wrong place. Therefore, listen, buddy, I do not know how you got this address or how you got in here, but I highly suggest and advise that you retrace your steps at once and leave, you clearly don't belong here. You are clearly delusional"

As the security man spoke, he kept raising his voice, both he and Adam unaware of the entrance to the main mansion being opened and somebody coming out.

"What's all this ruckus about?? What's with all the noise? You're disturbing my naptime!" she angrily admonished as she made her way over to them.

On getting to the gate, she lifted her head up and was met with Adam's gaze

"You!?"
