“Well, I saw you by chance and decided to follow you. Don't take it wrong. I followed you because I know you're not the kind of person to move around anyhow and was just curious to see who you were probably going to meet after the previous encounter you had.”

“Oh. Then you must have seen those men going into the hotel. I believe there was a fourth person among them, but I couldn't make sense of all the things I was seeing. Did you see a fourth person among them?” Lauren asked again.

“No. I only saw those men when they went in. And that's what made me a little uncomfortable seeing you stay in that hotel where you could encounter horrible people there. Thankfully, my hunch was right about the situation.” Maddox explained and she nodded her head, understanding how he came to save her.
