On the other hand, Quincy stared at the image of pretty Elise Walter who had been the third applicant. She had been great at cooking and had laughed a lot, showing a jovial side to her, but she had been too young. He had doubted she'd be able to handle keeping the house. She'd have to clean, wash, tidy, and cook. He didn't think she had the patience nor the strength for all that. Also, he didn't want anything that would remind him of Lauren or Kohler. Already, the big turn-off was that she was wearing one of the earrings Kohler used to wear. She was pretty with Auburn hair, and large green eyes, with heart-shaped lips. Of course, he wouldn't want someone as pretty as a maid. He didn't want any situation that Kohler would think he'd moved on already. “This lady applied to your house yesterday as a maid? You should have known such a young, bright lady wouldn't come for an interview unless she had a hidden agenda.” Scott said, frowning down at the photo. “I didn't accept her anyways.”
“Move a bit, and I'll blast your damn brains out! Try me!” She screeched, as she switched the gun back and forth on the both of them. “You shot that dart,” Quincy said, his jaw clenching. “I did!” She replied fiercely, repositioning her fingers carefully on the gun. “Why?” Scott asked, his brows furrowing. She laughed, “I doubt you'll know. Yeah, that's how you rich people always are.”“You doubt I'll know?” Quincy asked. “Because no one else matters. Yes, you can never know what you did.” She said, nodding her head, making her auburn curls bounce. “Drop the gun. Do you know what you did?” Scott hissed. “I intended a car press to press him flat, and have him as flat as my mat!” She hissed, and Quincy stormed towards her, his anger taking over. “Do you know how much…”“Quincy!” Scott shouted. “...I got scared? Do you know how hard it was to breathe?”“Stop! I'll shoot! I said, step back. I will shoot. Hey, I'm telling you I mean it…”“Quincy, stop it!” Scott made to grab Quinc
Quincy stared at the horrible sight for a long time, and so did the maid, as all words were robbed mercilessly from them.“What happened?” Quincy asked Bertha, who was still on the floor, paralyzed from the horror. “I… I… I was about to… to sleep, but… but realized the room was a little dusty, so… so I wanted to do a bit of cleaning before… before concluding the day over, and… and oh goodness…” she shuddered, “the lights were on, and… and I just thought to turn them off, nothing more. I'm… I'm quite sure I turned them off before going to my room, and… and this is what I saw.”Her trembling hand went to her mouth, as her eyes filled up with tears. She shook her head as if trying to erase the image from her head. Quincy helped her to stand, but she was unable to tear her eyes off the horrible sight. “Can I… can I know if… if you've wronged someone? Is someone out to get you? Is there anyone apart from us who has keys to the house?” She asked, and Quincy could tell she wanted to flee.
Lauren’s reflection period seemed to be a serious one, filled with so many flashbacks. She couldn’t help, but go back to the past, and it seemed to be her way of healing and reflecting on her actions, gradually.~flashback~“Lauren, that's the least of your problems right now. What are we going to do about what we feel for him?” If he was going to get engaged, then…” She paused.“What about me? Would I be forced to smile at his wedding? And when he gave birth to his kids, would I have to love them, hold them, and be nice to them?” She thought to herself.Lauren got back home, in an even more sour mood, but happened to run into Quincy in the hallway close to her room. When he saw her, he strode over to her, and surprisingly wrapped her in a hug. Her heart began to beat crazily like it wanted to split itself open against the ribcage of her chest, and her cheeks colored a bright crimson. Lauren wanted to wrap her arms around him, but instead, she retreated, feeling anger wash over me.
Quincy on the other hand, was furious, when he saw the message. “What’s going on, Quincy? What did you see?” Scott asked, out of concern.“Just imagine the message I got, again,” Quincy uttered, and then handed over his phone to Scott.Scott was also shocked to see the message, and it was quite as annoying as it should be. More like the person was engaging them in a hide-and-seek game, which he didn’t intend to join.“I need to get to the root of this.” He said, to himself. Then he stepped out of the living room, to the guards who were in the compound.“Did anyone get into this house, without me knowing?” He asked them, and they shook their heads.“Are you certain about this?” Quincy asked again, finding it difficult to believe that someone had not stepped into the house, if not, how would a message have been scribbled on his maid’s room walls? It was even more confusing as to how the person had gotten his number.“Sir, no one strange has come into this building. We assure you of tha
While Lauren was also thinking back on Quincy, she also thought back on the time she spent with Thomas, who was a very lovely friend, back then, before she finally broke it to him that she didn’t love him.“Ma’am, here are the fruits you asked for.” One of her maids uttered as she placed the tray of fruits, on the table. But Lauren didn’t say a word as she was lost in thoughts, and so, the maid had to leave. She had gone back to the time when Thomas had given her the morale to see her mother, whom she had been apart from, for years, because of her father.~flashback~Lauren had just gotten back to the mansion from college, and while she was feeling exhausted, she was happy about one thing; the time she spent with Quincy, at college. As she got into her room, she fell on the bed, covered her face with her palms, and let out muffled screams. Her mind kept replaying the moment he wrapped his arm around her waist, and how he stared into her eyes when she was about to trip from the stairs
Lauren and Thomas had gotten back to the city, and the mood she left in, earlier wasn’t the same as she came back with. Thomas had taken her to her home and made her hide somewhere around the cars, and she had to watch as he knocked on the door.He was only going to act like he had missed his way, and then Lauren would get to catch a glimpse of her mother. But to her disappointment, it was a new person who was living there, and she had said that the woman living there before, had left, a month ago.“You don’t need to feel bad. I’m sure she’s okay.” Thomas assured Lauren.“She had to leave the house behind; where we’ve had a lot of memories. I don’t even know if she went on to search for me, or she just couldn’t bear living in that house, alone.” Lauren uttered, and her voice broke. Then Thomas pulled her closer to him and hugged her.“I’m sure she is fine. If you don’t want me to regret trying to make you happy, by bringing you here, then do me a favor by taking your mind off it.” Tho
On the other hand, scared Bertha could have almost peed on her body, if not for the door opening, and Quincy walked in. He also thought someone else was in his room, doing a wicked act, and was also relieved it wasn’t who he thought it was.Although he had wished that it was the evildoer, so he would end him, once and for all, because he deserved to be sent to jail. Then he walked into the room to help Bertha up. Her legs were wobbling, but he stood as support until she could stand on her own.“What are you doing here, Bertha? I almost thought it was the perpetrator again. I could have sent for guards, and they could have done something even before opening the door.” Quincy said, speaking out of concern.“I’m sorry sir. But I wanted to clean up your room. Although I cleaned mine up, it isn’t easy to stay or sleep there. And I know it could be the same for you. So, I wanted to give your room a different touch, just so you won’t remember anything about the current issue, in your sleep.
