Chapter 14 Wishful Thinking
"A bet?"

"That's right, a bet. In three months, we'll evaluate their assets, power, and personal abilities to see who is truly superior," Kendra said confidently.

"Are you joking? Forget about three months. Even if I give him three years, 30 years, what does this trash have to compare with me? I lie there doing nothing and still earn millions a month, while he lies there doing nothing and starves in three days. What does he have to compare with me?"

"Mister Cox is right. There's no need for this kind of bet. Ordinary people have their own lives, and there are certain levels that they can never reach, no matter how hard they work. Considering our past as a married couple, I don't want to continue causing trouble for him. This farce should come to an end now."

Kendra sneered and said, "Ashton, they're underestimating you."

Alora frowned; she could not stand the woman's coquettish and disdainful laughter.

"Fine, since you want to bet, I'll play along. Three months, right? What's the wager?"

Kendra pointed to the huge spire building across from the Imperial Court Hotel.

"Stand on the rooftop of the Edren Media Tower and tell everyone that you have no insight."

Alora nodded. "Alright, we'll see the outcome after three months."

"Mister Cox, let's go." After speaking, she turned and left, not wanting to stay a second longer.

Ashton had also left the lobby; he went to the central garden area.

"Mister Levin, were you satisfied with my performance just now?" Kendra changed her icy and indifferent expression and stood behind him playfully.

"You're the head of the Edren branch of the Royal Sealift Group, and you're getting involved with me in public. Aren't you afraid of more trouble in the future?" Ashton turned to look at her.

"What's there to be afraid of? Corporations would queue to have a chance to cooperate with the Royal Sealift Group. I've always been the one to choose our partners, not the other way around. Besides, you are my fiance, aren't you?" Kendra walked up and boldly linked her arm with his, looking proud.

Ashton quickly distanced himself and helplessly smiled. "Let's not talk about that. What's this bet about? I don't want to become a tool for your entertainment."

Kendra quickly shook her head and said, "I just don't like that despicable man, and I also want to teach your ex-wife a lesson. Let her know what precious thing she has lost.

"Humans are always ready for revenge. Mister Levin, I don't believe that you did not react when your ex-wife brought a worthless man and paraded him in front of you," Kendra said.

Ashton fell silent.

His reaction?

Indeed, he had some, but it was not about revenge or comparing him and the other man. He felt only sadness that Alora had found such a man after leaving him. Perhaps he never really understood Alora, and maybe she never understood him, either. Maybe she only treated him like an employee.

From that perspective, what Alora did was quite considerate and selfless. After all, she wanted to climb higher, to experience a broader world. How could she tolerate having a partner who was just an unproductive worker?

In comparison, Mister Cox, the young master of the Cox and the founder of the Dormund Grand Three Elements Club, could provide her with more significant support.

"That's what you say now. Aren't you afraid that I won't do anything and end up apologizing after three months?" Ashton looked at her and smiled slightly.

Kendra raised an eyebrow. "Mister Levin, I'm standing up for you today. If I lose, then you owe me a favor. Compared to a favor from you, I don't think apologizing is a big issue. What do you think?"

Kendra smirked cunningly. "Besides, I don't believe you would willingly lose to that despicable man, especially one who stole your ex-wife."

Ashton shrugged, indicating that he did not mind.

At the same time, on Alora's side...

Just as Tyson was about to reach out and grab her hand, Alora instinctively avoided it.

"Alora, calm down. That guy is playing tricks. Otherwise, with my methods, I wouldn't lose to him!

"Alora, with our power, there are a thousand ways to make him kneel and apologize once we leave the Imperial Court gala. You can humiliate him in any way you want then. Why are you gloomy?"

Alora stopped walking. "Mister Cox, it seems like you misunderstood. I feel that we haven't reached that kind of relationship yet. Isn't it impolite for you to casually touch my hand?"

Tyson's expression stiffened, apologizing with his mouth while cursing in his heart. 'Little slut, she has slept with that Levin man countless times, yet she dares to act innocent in front of him. Truly shameless.'

Of course, Alora had no idea about his thoughts. She said, "As for Ashton, he will reveal his true colors in three months. Why should I be in such a hurry to deal with him?

"If that woman finds out, won't she mock me for being unable to handle it and resorting to underhanded tactics? I am not so despicable.

"By the way, Mister Cox, you're not afraid, right? If you lose to Ashton, I would be shocked! Very disappointed."

"Ridiculous!" Tyson sneered, full of disdain. "As the Cox family's eldest son, I am worth billions. Am I afraid of a poor loser? In three months, not only will I make him suffer a crushing defeat, but I will also make him understand the consequences of offending me. The only outcome for him will be death!"

"I'll be watching." Alora nodded.

Her emotions were quite complex at the moment.

The incident with the jade pendant made her feel a little guilty. She wanted to make it up to the man somehow. But after the confrontation, her disgust toward Ashton grew, and she could not wait to retaliate and make him understand that without her, he was nothing. If he dared to oppose her, his outcome would be extremely tragic.

"Miss Latham."

Chloe Lowery, the secretary, came toward her, holding a thick file folder.

Alora quickly asked, "How did it go? Did you manage to make an appointment with the person in charge of the Royal Sealift Group? Did they review my cooperative project?"

Miss Lowery smiled and handed over the documents. "Miss Latham, you didn't disappoint. They have chosen your proposal and made it to the top four."

"The Royal Sealift Group will select three partners this time, and we're almost a sure thing!"

Alora's eyes lit up. "Well done! Come with me to meet the person in charge of the Royal Sealift Group."
