Chapter 13 How to Make a Bet
Ashton rolled his eyes. He did not know what Kendra was up to.

However, it appeared that explanations were unnecessary at the time. After all, he had already ended his marriage to Alora. What he did and who he was with were entirely his choice.

Beside him, Kendra could not help but size up Alora with her eyes.

So that was his ex-wife, the woman who caused him to lose control of his emotions.

Her appearance was alright, and her temperament was also not bad. However, she lacked a certain charm when compared to herself.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Kendra's mouth as she walked up to Alora and extended her hand, unsure what came to mind. "Miss Alora, Ashton has made several references to you. Please guide me as this is our first meeting."

Alora did not want to embarrass herself in front of everyone, so she politely extended her hand.

She was subtly scrutinizing the other person at the same time.

She had always taken pride in her exceptional beauty, but she must admit that the woman before her was breathtakingly beautiful.

From certain angles, she appeared even more majestic and outstanding than herself.

"I haven't heard Ashton mention you. Did you two just meet recently? Or have you known each other for a long time?" Alora pursed her lips.

Kendra smiled. "What does it matter? After all, Ashton no longer belongs to you, right?"

Alora nodded. Yes, Ashton was no longer her husband, but she refused to accept it. How could he find a woman who was even more beautiful than she was right after their divorce? Who did he think he was?

"Ashton, we just got divorced, and you're already involved with someone else. Shouldn't you give me an explanation?"

Ashton smiled faintly. "At least I'm better than you. You were already with another man before our divorce. I didn't even ask for an explanation from you. How dare you make such a request?"

That sentence hit Alora hard.

He had asked her if she had become close to Tyson and if the divorce was related to him when they signed the divorce agreement. Her silence was her admitting to that.

She was reaping what she sowed.

"I admit I was wrong, including your treatment of my family. I did accuse you without conducting a thorough investigation. It was entirely my fault. Can we now have a proper conversation?

"Perhaps there is still a chance for us to reconcile."

Ashton smiled ambiguously. "Are you suggesting we remarry?"

Alora raised an eyebrow. "Perhaps it's a possibility. What do you think?"

Ashton stood up from his chair, shook his slightly numb wrist, and a smile spread across his face. He shook his head. "Alora, oh, Alora, what kind of person are you? I understand you better than you understand yourself."

"Are you thinking about remarrying? Right after our divorce, a woman more beautiful than you appeared by my side. You believe it tarnishes your reputation, you feel defeated, and you refuse to accept it.

"You've always been this kind of person, wanting to be an absolute winner in relationships and career. Anyone, in your eyes, is a disposable pawn."

Alora frowned, her eyes turning cold. "Is it necessary for you to be a jerk?"

"Alora, why are you bothering with him? I will kill this little bastard today!" Tyson rose from the ground.

His breath seemed to stop the second he saw Kendra.

What the fuck?

'What kind of lucky star is following this brat? Every woman he encounters is more beautiful than the last. Why don't I have such luck? Now I'm just playing with his leftovers.'

He was so enraged by that thinking that his heart was about to burst.

"Miss, come over here quickly. You've been deceived. He's just a low-life loser from the bottom of society. No money, no power. He doesn't deserve you at all. Let me introduce you to some wealthy aristocratic gentlemen who are a thousand times better than him."

"Aristocratic gentlemen?" Kendra smiled faintly. "What kind of aristocratic gentlemen can match me? Are you talking about yourself? A pathetic man like you, I wouldn't even glance at you if we passed each other on the street."

Tyson's expression froze. Is he a pathetic man? Damn, what does Ashton have that he doesn't?

"Miss, even if you insult me, I won't be angry because you're also a victim. You haven't seen his true colors.

"When he was with Alora, he didn't work or have a job. All he did was live off her, sucking her dry. Later, Alora found out and kicked him out. If you're with him, you'll also be deceived and regret it!"

Ashton chuckled at the words. Not only did she not keep her distance from Ashton, but she also turned her head and hugged his arm tightly. "Deceive and regret? As long as he's willing, I'm his.

"Ashton, tonight I'll book a room and wear something nice. You can do whatever you want with me. How about that?"

Ashton had a vein throbbing on his forehead. That woman was truly a little demon.

Although he knew she was joking, such seductive gestures were not something a man could resist.

Tyson almost lost his sanity due to anger.

"Miss, you—"

"Shut up! Aren't you annoying? Who I'm with is none of your business. A pathetic man like you can only be attracted to someone like her. You don't even compare to a single strand of hair on Ashton's head." Kendra impatiently retorted.

"Mister Cox is now my fiancé. Are you provoking me with such insults?" Alora countered sharply.

Kendra glanced at her with disdain all over her face. "Provoking you? So what? I don't even consider you a rival. You're not worthy of my attention."

"But, I have to thank you for letting go of Ashton. This is to my benefit, after all.

"It won't be long before you realize it was your most foolish decision. So foolish that it drives people crazy."

Alora furrowed her brows tightly. She didn't think Ashton was an extraordinary guy. She just felt uncomfortable seeing her ex-husband being flaunted by someone else. It was like something that originally belonged to her was being exhibited by others, and the worst part was that the other party mocked her for not recognizing its value.

"If you like him, keep him. I never regret my decisions.

Someone like Mister Cox, a successful person, is many times stronger than this freeloader. Alora adjusted her hair with a mocking gesture.

"Tsk, tsk." Kendra smiled nonchalantly, a hint of unusual brilliance flashing in her eyes. "Miss Alora, since you're so confident in this pathetic man by your side and look down on Ashton, why don't we place a bet?"
