Chapter 17 Perfect Way to Meet Unexpectedly
"I have to bear the responsibility?" Ashton was angry and amused. He glanced at the ID card around Director Zander's neck and said, "You're the one who pulled the silver needles out, causing Elrich's life to hang by a thread, but you want me to bear all responsibilities? Is this the standard for the Director of Internal Medicine at the Edren Hospital?"

Ashton pointed at Morgan. "You and that old fart are cut from the same cloth. It's no wonder that the same person trained you."

"How dare you—"

"What? I let you off the hook once because you're an old man. Do you really think I'm that good-tempered?" Ashton cut him off.

"You son of a bitch! How dare you talk to Doctor Cook like that? Do you know who he is? You better watch it, or you won't be able to survive Edren County!" Director Zander gritted his teeth in anger.

Ashton glanced at him. "You're an incompetent trash who likes to act on your own will and blame others. If I were you, I'd shut my mouth, so I won't make a fool of myself and be a laughingstock."

"Bullshit!" Director Zander felt infuriated; he had never been insulted like that before.

At that moment, Elrich—whose condition had just been stabilized—started bleeding from his nose and mouth again, showing a faint sign that his condition was getting uncontrollable.

"Sir, please save my grandfather. We can talk about the other things later." Nazeem pleaded anxiously.

Ashton nodded, picking up the bag of needles at the side. Just as he was about to administer the needles, Morgan stood beside him quickly. Ashton glanced at him and asked, "Are you trying to learn from me?"

Morgan sneered. "Hmph! Learn from you? Even if you started studying medicine from birth, you're still nothing compared to me. Why would I need to learn from a person like you? I'm just trying to watch how an unlicensed quack like yourself would panic and embarrass yourself. You don't have the skills, yet you're showing off. You'll meet your miserable end today!"

Director Zander immediately jumped in, saying, "Yes! You'll be finished today! You're practicing without a license. I'll call the cops on you later!"

Ashton was a little shocked when he heard that. He wondered if Director Zander had lost his mind. He did not allow him to treat Elrich. Would that not be equivalent to leaving Elrich to die?

Ashton immediately threw the silver needles away. "You heard him. It's not that I don't want to save him, but this man is trying to call the cops on me. I'm not licensed, so I'll be detained. I don't want to take such a risk."

Nazeem immediately slapped Director Nazeem. "You fucking asshole! I'll make you regret the day you were born after the gala tonight."

Director Zander held his face, finally realizing he had said the wrong thing.

The Wesleys depended on that young man to save Elrich's life, but he said he wanted to report him. That meant he did not want Elrich to live.

"Idiot." Ashton shook his head, but he did feel a little better.

Then, he turned to check on Elrich's condition again. "The situation's not looking good. The damage to the organs can't be reversed. He could have lived for three to five more years after I inserted the silver needles and extended his lifespan, but three years is the maximum now." Ashton concluded after examining Elrich.

"Mister Levin, please do your best to save my grandfather." Lance's tears welled in her eyes.

"Yes, our family will pay a sum that you'll be happy with, Mister Levin," Nazeem said, glaring at Director Zander simultaneously, eagerly wishing to slice that idiot up.

There was merely two years of difference between three and five years. However, it was a world of difference to the head of the household whose life was about to end. Those two precious years were snatched away by that idiot so casually.

Ashton did not use the ordinary method to insert the needles. Instead, the needles were inserted in a row, and he made the needles in tune with Elrich's natural pulse. Therefore, once he inserted the needles, they would vibrate in rhythm.

"These are just some tricks to fool people." Morgan crossed his arms, looking at Ashton indifferently.

"I've never seen anybody inserting needles like this while practicing the ancient technique. Mister Wesley, Miss Wesley, I am insignificant, so you won't believe me. But Doctor Cook is a figure of authority. If he said the man's fooling you, that's certainly what he is doing. He's the one who made Elrich's condition get so severe. He only has one goal—to extort and scam you!" Director Zander tried to shift the blame.

Seeing that Nazeem and Lance started to look worried, he turned to Ashton and sneered. "When Elrich's condition worsens, I hope you can still be as calm and collected as you are now, you son of a bitch!"

Ashton inserted the needles calmly. He inserted 24 needles, starting from Elrich's stomach to his throat.

Elrich's body began to shake violently after each needle insertion starting with the 18th needle. Morgan was perplexed by the strange situation, and his gaze was solemn.

He had practiced the ancient technique for over 30 years and was proficient in various needle-insertion techniques. He had, however, never seen a method that could cause a person's body to vibrate, resulting in a strange resonance. It was illogical.

"If you continue inserting the needles like that, Elrich might become a zombie and start to bite others, right?" Director Zander mocked Ashton as if he had been slapped hard enough.

Then, Nazeem slapped Director Zander again, as hard as he could, making him fall to the ground. He stepped on the man's chest and said, "Shut your damn mouth! I'll cut off your tongue if you dare to say another word."

Nazeem turned to Ashton. "Mister Levin, please continue. You can ignore this clown."

Ashton nodded.

The 22nd needle.

The 23rd needle.

As soon as he inserted the 24th needle, Elrich sprang up and sat on the bed, his eyes wide and bloodshot.

"How is this possible?" Morgan was so frightened that he shouted and fell after he lost his footing.

On the other hand, Ashton packed up his bag of needles with a smile.

The magical part about the 24 Balancing Needles method was the ability to balance the forces in the body, using that to nourish the organs, which would cure long-term conditions and extend life expectancy.

After a while, Elrich regained his senses, his eyes became clear, and he exhaled deeply. "Amazing! I feel so good!

He turned to look at Director Zander and Morgan.

"I might have been unconscious, but I was aware of everything that happened around me. Nazeem, this man almost killed me. Our family has always had a clear distinction between who's our friend and who's our foe. You know what to do, don't you?" Elrich pointed at Director Zander.

"Don't worry, Grandfather. I'll take care of it." Nazeem nodded.

Director Zander was lying on the floor when he heard that. He got so terrified that he immediately fainted.

"Doctor Cook, I used to respect you for being a doctor in a class of your own. I've helped you and the Edren Hospital immensely. However, you've disappointed me too much at this point. Lance, show him the door."

Just like that, Doctor Cook and the rest were kicked out of the room.

Other than the Wesleys, Ashton was the only outsider in the room.

"Mister Levin—"

Ashton raised his hand, signaling to him that there was no need to say anything else. "There's no need to thank me. I have to see that 500-year-old medicinal herb in three days. Otherwise, I'll make you repay me with interest."

Elrich smiled. "Mister Levin, you've saved my life twice. If I'm still reluctant to give you that herb, then I would be shameless."

Everybody in the room smiled in relief.

There was a knock on the door.

Lance went to take a look through the peephole. "It's Tyson from the Cox family of Durmund City. Alora is also here. She is the beautiful corporate group president trying to collaborate with us. She's very popular recently and has often appeared on the front page of our local newspaper. Do you want to meet with them?"

Elrich gave it a thought and nodded. "Let them in."
